Game: Gran Turismo 7 Track: High Speed Ring Date: 7th May 2022 Episode: 2 - Licence B-2 - Starting and stopping Finish: Licence B-2 - Gold Summary: At O.S. Racing we trying something a little new. We set Oli a challenge, moving from karting to take the first steps into sim racing. Can he complete the National B licence, no assists except those that come with the car (and automatic gears) in Gran Turismo 7 using a playstation 5, Fanatec DD Pro wheel base and Fanatec pedals? This video is the second in a series of videos following Oli as he tackles the Gran Turismo 7 licence structure on the road to online sim racing. Ultimately adding sim racing to Oli's options for racing will allow for additional opportunities to race at a low cost. We hope to learn more about car control as well as discovering and learning tracks without racing lines, brake markers etc. In this second video Oli is attempting to learn how to get the power down to quickly get off the line at the start, as well as identify where to best brake and understanding the brake pressure needed to get the car stopped. Licence B-2 is the second of 10 modules for the Gran Turismo National B Licence which is the same as B-1 except it uses a faster car. Follow Oli has he attempts to achieve this first licence. HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal vs Leeds United (2-1) | Premier League | Eddie Nketiah at the double!
Eddie Nketiah’s first-half brace was eventually enough for us to claim all three points, but it was far from straight forward, despite Leeds being reduced to ten men from the 27th minute. Our striker scored twice in the opening ten minutes, and we looked to be in total control, especially after Luke Ayling was dismissed for a lunge on Gabriel Martinelli. But Diego Llorente’s second-half goal from a corner ensured a nervous finale. We started like a train though. Nketiah created the opening goal out of absolutely nothing. Illan Meslier pondered on a back pass just too long, Nketiah pounced, dispossessed the keeper and bundled the ball over the line. The Emirates was bouncing, and within minutes Nketiah dialled up the atmosphere even more with his second. Gabriel Martinelli deserves a huge amount of the credit for the way he hassled and harried away on the left wing, broke into the box and cut the ball back for Nketiah to sweep home first time. We were 2-0 up inside ten minutes, and looking to maintain the frantic early pace. Martinelli swung in another deep cross but it was just beyond Nketiah on the stretch. Cedric – playing at right back with Takehiro Tomiyasu shifted over to the left – was next to try his luck, firing over after Martin Odegaard’s cut back just evaded Nketiah. A wonderful first-time pass from Odegaard set up Saka inside the box, but his powerful shot was straight at Meslier. Leeds were reduced to 10 men when Luke Ayling was red carded for a reckless foul on Martinelli on the byline. The former Arsenal youth player went in two-footed on the Brazilian, and referee Chris Kavanagh’s initial booking was overturned after VAR intervention. In the ensuing melee Raphinha was booked – you could start to see why the visitors had set a new record for most yellow cards in a Premier League season. We were starting to camp out in the Leeds half. Martinelli squeezed a shot right across the line before Odegaard had a free kick cleared from underneath the cross bar by Diego Llorente. We continued to dominate after the break. Martinelli twisted and turned his marker before shooting at Meslier at the near post, while Nketiah had a header from a corner blocked. From Leeds’ first shot of the game they got back into it. Junior Firpo flicked on a corner and Llorente was unmarked at the far post to score past Aaron Ramsdale. All of a sudden from a position of total control, there were now some nerves around the Emirates. Leeds – throwing everything at the game now in their relegation fight – sent Meslier up for a late corner. We cleared it to Pepe but he couldn’t get it under control on the halfway line with the goal vacant. Ramsdale had to make a late save from Rodrigo, as incredibly we were hanging on for the points. There was no little amount of relief when the final whistle went. Four points clear, three games to go. Earlier in the season we witnessed a great partnership forming between Jota and Kyogo. injuries put a stop to that partnership during the season but just as we enter the business end of the season it seems that the duo are ready to rekindle that perfect partnership. As we entered the business end of the season after the SPFL split Celtic travelled for a tough game to Dingwall where they were kicked from pillar to post by the home side’s hatchet men but the cream of the crop always rises to the top and on the day it was Jota and his perfect pass into the box saw Kyogo lose his markers and rise high into the air to head the ball home to give Celtic a 1-0 lead. Jota picked up a man of the match award for his performance, but honorable mentions must go to Tony Ralston and Greg Taylor both full backs put in full shifts again, both players have improved under Ange Postecoglou and let’s hope that form continues when the Rangers come to Celtic Park on Sunday. The disappointment of the cup semifinal exit at Hampden will be banished if we can wrap up the title and take home the SPFL trophy. Revenge is best served on a Sunday lunchtime. The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins added another memorable chapter to their historic rivalry on Sunday night. The Habs celebrated the life of legend Guy Lafleur who passed away Friday. Down 4-1, Montreal (20-49-11) rallied with two goals in the third period but the Bruins escaped the emotional Bell Centre with a 5-3 win. "The rivalry, it's still there from the years so every time we play Montreal, we want to make sure we put our best foot forward," said Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. "I'm sure they feel the same way, especially at home on a night like tonight. We had the upper hand early and they had no quit their game, give them credit. They battled back right to the last 30 seconds it took us to put them away." Erik Haula scored twice, including a penalty shot. Patrice Bergeron had a three-point night (two goals, one assist) to help Boston notch back-to-back wins. Charlie McAvoy added the eventual game winner. Jeremy Swayman made 23 saves. Cassidy added that the Bruins considered giving Bergeron a night off but he refused in order to play in front of family. Bergeron broke the ice for Boston (49-25-5) by tapping in a loose puck in an open net. The centreman passed Raymond Bourque as the fourth all-time goal scorer in Bruins history. "He's a legend in Boston, obviously. You know, like (Jean) Beliveau was here or (Jacques) Lemaire," Cassidy said. "To do it here in his home province, good for Bergy. It's a long year for him when you get to be that age to play that many games. It's game 79 for him and back-to-back." The Bell Centre crowd had an opportunity to celebrate the passing of Guy Lafleur prior to the game. Following a pre-game ceremony, the crowd cheered for 10 minutes to honour the Canadiens legend. "It was an emotional night in Guy's honour. We felt that Guy was with us in the third," said Canadiens interim coach Martin St. Louis. "Like I told my players, you play so many games in the league, you might remember a few regular season games but you will remember that one." "On a night like this, if (the players) didn't know what the Canadiens are to the province of Quebec I think they know now tonight." Following the final buzzer, Brendan Gallagher led his teammates back onto the ice to salute Lafleur's retired No. 10. "That's a big show of respect, I'm happy that (Gallagher) did that. Guy deserves that respect," St. Louis said. "It's important to give this to the next generation of players. The legacy is important." Josh Anderson, Mike Hoffman and Nick Suzuki added goals for Montreal while Jeff Petry recorded two assists. Samuel Montembeault made 37 saves. The Bruins were awarded a penalty shot at 18:03 of the first period when Mike Hoffman slashed Erik Haula. The winger over-skated the puck but then managed to beat Montembeault. "I had to bite my jersey because I didn't really know how to react to it myself and the guys were laughing," said Haula who added that Brad Marchand wanted him to fail. "He was hoping that I touched it because he had done it before so that he wasn't going to be alone in that boat but thankfully I didn't and ended up scoring but there was a lot of laughs." "I didn't really understand what was going on," said Montembeault. "The crowd started screaming and I'm not sure he understood either, he was skating slow, it was weird but I still needed to save that." The Canadiens scored their first of the night at 1:51 of the second period on the power play. Anderson grabbed a loose puck in the slot and backhanded his 19th goal of the season. Boston regained its two-goal lead when Tomas Nosek found Haula on the rush for his second marker of the night. McAvoy got Boston up by three just before the second intermission with a shot from the point while both teams were playing four-on-four. Montreal rallied with two goals in the third period. Hoffman cut Montreal's deficit back to two goals on the power play with a one-timer slapshot from the point. Suzuki, left alone in the slot, brought the Habs back to one goal at 7:19. BCHL 3 Stars - Week Twenty-Three
Cowichan Valley Capitals forward David Jacobs, Cranbrook Bucks forward Tyson Dyck and West Kelowna Warriors defenceman Charles-Alexis Legault have been named the BCHL 3 Stars of the Week. 1st Star – David Jacobs (F) – Cowichan Valley Capitals Jacobs collected a pair of goals and added four assists for six points in two games last week, tying for the league lead in points over that stretch. The 20-year-old played setup man in Friday night’s 6-2 win over the Victoria Grizzlies. Jacobs assisted on both of Cowichan’s first-period goals and added a third helper midway through the middle frame to finish with three on the night. He was named the game’s first star. On Saturday, he registered his second straight three-point night, scoring twice and adding an assist in a narrow 4-3 defeat to the Nanaimo Clippers. The Needham, Mass. native had a goal and an assist in the second period, then added his second marker late in the third to cut the lead to one. Jacobs finishes the regular season as the Capitals leading scorer with 52 points in 54 games. His efforts last week helped Cowichan clinch the final playoff spot in the Costal Conference. 2nd Star – Tyson Dyck (F) – Cranbrook Bucks Dyck racked up six assists in two games over the weekend to lead the league in assists and tie for the most points. The 2022 NHL Draft prospect did the majority of his damage on Friday night in a home matchup against the Penticton Vees. Dyck recorded five helpers, assisting on all of his team’s goals, in a 5-2 win. After collecting an assist in both the first and second periods, he assisted on three straight Cranbrook goals in the third period to seal the win. All five of his assists were primary. The following night in a rematch against Penticton, Dyck had another assist in his team’s 6-1 loss. The Abbotsford, B.C. product is fourth in league scoring with 74 points in 53 contests. 3rd Star – Charles-Alexis Legault (D) – West Kelowna Warriors Typically more of a defensive defenceman, Legault tied for the points lead among blueliners last week with five in three games. He scored three goals over that span and all three were game-winners. The 2003-born defender collected three points in Thursday’s matchup with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. He scored a third-period goal, his first since Jan. 29, to go along with two assists to finish with three points and first-star honours in the Warriors 5-3 home win. On Friday, West Kelowna was on the road in Merritt where Legault scored once again in a 7-1 win. He finished the week out on Sunday by scoring a goal for the third straight game, his sixth of the year, to help the Warriors to a 6-1 win against the Vernon Vipers. Legault now has 16 points in 35 games this season.
