Jamshedpur FC knocked Hyderabad FC off their perch with a clinical 3-0 victory over them in a top-of-the-table rescheduled Hero Indian Super League encounter at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim here on Tuesday. The result saw Jamshedpur qualify for the semis for the first time. The only blemish in an otherwise spotless performance was the sending off of Mobashir Rahman in the 68th minute. Chinglensana Singh (5th OG) scored an own goal to help Jamshedpur take the lead before skipper Peter Hartley (28th) doubled the lead with Daniel Chima Chukwu (65th) extending his rich vein of form with his fifth goal since joining Jamshedpur to crown a brilliant performance. Jamshedpur now are in pole position with 37 points from 18 matches, two more than Hyderabad (35 points) with a game in hand. The result is more credible as Jamshedpur won against the leaders without Greg Stewart who has been arguably their best player. Stewart is serving a one-match suspension after picking up four yellow cards. Hyderabad made a lot of changes to the side from the last game with Bart Ogbeche also not kept in the mix. The game started on a frantic note, Chinglensana putting the ball in his own net after a Mobashir Rahman low shot took a wicked deflection off his foot and wrongfooted goalkeeper Gurmeet Singh, playing for the first time this season in place of seasoned custodian Laxmikant Kattimani. The early goal hurt the league leaders as they shifted gears, seeing more of the ball in the final third with Jamshedpur pressing them higher up the park. Aniket Jadhav pulled wide after beating his marker with a neat piece of skill while the yellow shirts seemed to be finding their mojo. But Jamshedpur doubled their advantage from a set piece. Alexandre Lima swung in a delightful corner for Hartley to leap highest and head home across the face of goal leaving Gurmeet rooted to his spot. At halftime, the Men of Steel led 2-0 and in the second half, the Owen Coyle-coached side never took their foot off the pedal. Hartley came close to doubling his goal tally from a corner and Chima dragged wide from close. The in-form Nigerian did not have to wait too long though for a goal, slotting home a botched Khassa Camara clearance which was set up for him by Lima. Three minutes later, Mobashir was given the marching orders for his rash behaviour after hacking down Akash Mishra. Hyderabad could have pulled one back but Javier Siverio missed from close range as Jamshedpur capped off a perfect night. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #IndianSuperLeague 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... Odisha FC and Chennaiyin FC were dealt body blows to their flailing semifinal aspirations as they shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in the Hero Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium here on Wednesday. Both teams had to win this game in order to keep their slim chances alive but a stalemate means while they are mathematically still not out, their chances of making the cut are all but over. Rahim Ali (2nd) opened the scoring for Chennaiyin before Javi Hernandez (18th) pulled one back for Odisha for Jonathas Cristian (51st) to help them go in front in the second half. But Nerijus Valskis found the back of the net for Chennaiyin to ensure their rivals don't get all three points. Chennaiyin remained in eighth place with 20 points from 17 matches while Odisha stayed in seventh spot having 22 points from 17 matches. Chennaiyin nosed ahead inside the first two minutes, Rahim Ali tucking in a free-kick from Nerijus Valskis which was initially blocked but fell to the striker who was unmarked at the far post. It was all Chennaiyin in the opening 15 odd minutes but Sabir Pasha -- in charge of the team after Bozidar Bandovic parted ways with the club -- saw his team not being able to make the most of the great start. Javi equalised in the 18th minute after some brilliant off-the-ball movement saw him get past his markers to then play a one-two with Jonathas Cristian and curl the ball with his left foot from outside the box and into the back of the net. Chennaiyin tried to keep more of the ball after the equaliser with Ariel Borysiuk's ambitious attempt from yards outside the box flying over the bar. Borysiuk did better with another effort closer to halftime but the ball just missed the target to sail over the bar. Jonathas then forced Debjit Majumder into a good save as the referee blew the whistle for halftime. Odisha started on the front foot in the second half and Jonathas helped them take the lead for the first time in the game, smashing home off a rebound after Chennaiyin defenders failed to clear the ball inside the area. Soon after, Jonathas chipped an effort before Valskis nodded in a powerful header into the bottom corner from a cross isl 2021 🔊 LIKE ➡ SHARE ➡ SUBSCRIBE For More Updates: English: https://newsable.asianetnews.com/ Hindi: https://hindi.asianetnews.com/ Malayalam: https://www.asianetnews.com/ Kannada: https://kannada.asianetnews.com/ Tamil: https://tamil.asianetnews.com/ Telugu: https://telugu.asianetnews.com/ Bengali: https://bangla.asianetnews.com/ Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AsianetNewsa... Only 17 years old Juraj Slafkovsky from Slovakia and his two goals against Finland at Olympic Games in Beijing 2022. Slovakia is one of the more intriguing teams competing in the men's hockey tournament at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Not because the country is expected to win gold or even compete for a medal, but because two of its top players — Juraj Slafkovsky and Simon Nemec — are competing at just 17, and both are likely to be selected early in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft in July. The Slovaks fell to Finland in their tournament opener early Thursday morning by a score of 6-2, but Slafkovsky, who's the youngest player competing in the men's tournament, gave fans in his home country a whole lot to cheer about. Early in the first period, he opened the scoring from point-blank range where he cleaned up a rebound and roofed the puck past Finnish netminder Harri Sateri. He later scored again with a wicked wrister from the right faceoff dot to briefly shift momentum back in his squad's favor. In the end, though, Slovakia was unable to keep up with the Finns in the scoring department. Finnish forward Sakari Manninen netted a hat trick while Harri Pesonen and Miro Aaltonen (who scored twice) both earned markers of their own. While it was a disappointing start to the tournament for the Slovaks, the strong play of Slafkovsky certainly gives them something to build on going into their next tilt. They'll face off against Sweden Friday morning at 3:40 a.m. ET while Finland will next take the ice against Latvia Friday morning at 8:10 a.m. ET.

Nugent-Hopkins' shorthanded marker stood as the game-winner as the Oilers head into the NHL All-Star break on a high note.
#Millwall Vs #PrestonNorthEnd Match Report. Millwall and Preston North End played out a 0-0 draw in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday night. Gary Rowett opted for an unchanged starting XI for the visit of The Lilywhites, with two changes coming on the bench, as Jed Wallace and George Saville returned from injury. The first 15 minutes lacked action, but The Lions penetrated the Preston penalty area for the first time with 15 minutes on the clock, but Oliver Burke's low cross was cleared away before reaching Benik Afobe. out.stream powered by ADITION An intelligent pass from Murray Wallace saw Mason Bennett turn his marker before being hauled down by Sepp van den Berg - who was booked - before The Lions had a free-kick in a promising position with 19 minutes played, but Bennett's kick struck the wall before Burke's touch took the ball out of play. The game came to life shortly before the half-hour mark as a Scott Malone corner-kick was cleared out as far as Maikel Kieftenbeld on the edge of the area - the Dutchman unleashed a goal-bound effort on the volley, but a Preston body was there to deflect the ball behind. Bennett was then the next to strike from distance, but his attempt was comfortable for Daniel Iversen. North End's first shot of the night came from Emi Riis with 33 minutes played, but the attempt from outside the area was gathered by Bartosz Bialkowski. Danny McNamara's ball over the top set Afobe away as the second-half got underway, but the striker's first touch was heavy and allowed Iversen to rush out and smother any attempt on goal by the frontman. Bennett's effort from distance went wide just before the hour-mark in a night of little action in front of goal, with the double introduction of both Jed Wallace and Connor Mahoney injecting some life into The Lions on 61 minutes. However, three minutes later it was the visitors who could have taken the lead as Shaun Hutchinson pulled down Liam Lindsay inside the box, directing referee Kevin Friend to point to the spot. Ben Whiteman stepped up, but his spot-kick struck the post before bouncing to safety. Despite both teams huffing and puffing from there, further action in front of goal was limited - Murray Wallace clipping a right-footed cross across goal and wide with five minutes to play, before substitute Tyler Burey tried his luck on 88 minutes in the final true event of the evening. #Millwall vs #westbromwichalbion full time #Matchreport Millwall recorded a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the Sky Bet Championship at The Den on Saturday afternoon. Mason Bennett opened the scoring after 67 minutes with a finish from an acute angle, before Benik Afobe doubled the lead with a classy strike just nine minutes later. Gary Rowett made one change for the visit of The Baggies, as Oliver Burke came in for his home debut at the expense of George Evans, who dropped to the bench. The visitors started the afternoon on top and almost scrambled home the opening goal with just four minutes on the clock, but after a corner-kick failed to be clear, Bartosz Bialkowski managed to clutch the ball in amongst a batch of flying boots inside the six-yard box. Bialkowski then had to pull of an outstanding save from Baggies new boy Andy Carroll just a minute later, as the Pole got down quickly and well to parry the attacker's strike away from goal. Sloppy possession then led to Karlan Grant shaping to shoot, but his effort sailed over. After all four sides of the ground rose to their feet in memory of Isla Caton, Albion continued their charge on The Lions' penalty area, with Darnell Furlong's cross going across the face of goal without any telling touch, before Carroll fouled Danny McNamara on the far side to relieve the pressure. At the other end, Millwall's first chance of the game came on 12 minutes, but after patient build-up play saw McNamara cross to the back post, Scott Malone ballooned an effort over. McNamara's half-chance then went wide of the far post six minutes later, before the biggest chance to date went begging just after the midway point, as Benik Afobe was just unable to reach McNamara's cross, fashioned from Burke's smart pass on the halfway line. There were just over 30 minutes elapsed when determination from Bennett saw the ball deflect into the path of Afobe, but the striker could not control in what would have left him in a one-on-one situation with David Button, allowing the Albion defence to clear. Millwall had the first chance of the second-half, but after Burke's header set-up Afobe for a chance on goal, he sliced his effort over the crossbar. Burke then beat his man and looked set to score before a top save from Button kept Albion's sheet clean, before the loanee had another chance to open the scoring as he took down Malone's long pass, but his first touch took him away from goal. The opportunities kept coming for Millwall, with Maikel Kieftenbeld threading a pass through to Bennett with 56 minutes on the clock, but the close attentions of Cedric Kipre were enough to ensure that the frontman's effort failed to trouble Button. Shortly before the hour-mark, West Brom substitute Callum Robinson nearly made an instant impact as his deflected effort had to be tipped behind by Bialkowski, but with 67 minutes played, the deadlock was broken - by Millwall. As a Malone free-kick was sent in, the ball bobbled around, hitting the head of two, before dropping to Bennett at the far post, who made no mistake in firing home, despite the attempts to clear on the line. Nine minutes later, it was two - as Afobe chased down a lofted ball, he beat his marker before checking back onto his left foot and striking a stylish effort past Button to double the advantage. Afobe almost had a chance to notch a second - and Millwall's third - but his touch let him down as he sprung past the last line of The Baggies' defence, with The Lions seeing out the remainder of the game in no real trouble of conceding.
