Regular Season Game 62 of 72: Welcome To The (Danger) Zone
Regular Season Game 62 of 72: Welcome To The (Danger) Zone

In Friday’s win against the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Clippers opted to break out a zone defense more than usual. How many times? Well, 31 to be exact, according to Synergy. It was an interesting shift for them. They don’t run it a ton, but they do run it at times throughout the course of a game here and there. But it also meant that they’ve used it 45 times over the last two games. You’re probably wondering how they did. They actually did quite well with it against Houston, which was probably aided by the Rockets not being a quality three-point shooting squad. Hence why they opted to use it. This video breakdown is going to look at a few of the plays in which the Clippers decide to use a zone, and we broke down just how well it worked and why it worked. Enjoy and stay safe! Regular Season Game 61 of 72: Hey Boo Boo, Yogi Shines In Debut
Regular Season Game 61 of 72: Hey Boo Boo, Yogi Shines In Debut

Yogi Ferrell made his Los Angeles Clippers debut in Wednesday’s win against the Memphis Grizzlies. And what a win it was with six key rotation players for the Clippers out for various reasons. Ferrell wasn’t flawless, but he got better as the game went along and definitely came alive in the fourth quarter as the Clippers stormed back from an 18-point deficit to essentially rout the Grizzlies down the stretch. Enjoy this video breakdown as we look at the positive contributions that Ferrell had on this game, primarily on the offensive end, thanks to his floor mastery and intelligence. Stay safe! Regular Season Game 60 of 72: Winning In The Last Two Minutes
Regular Season Game 60 of 72: Winning In The Last Two Minutes

Staring a 6-point deficit in the eyes with two minutes to go, as well as a 5-point deficit with a minute to go, the Los Angeles Clippers never wavered on Tuesday night. They ended up defeating the Portland Trail Blazers, 113-112, thanks to the leadership and poise of Paul George, who finished with a game-high 33 points, including 8 of the team’s final 10 tallies. This video breakdown examines the final two minutes of the game and walks through how the Clippers were able to pull a victory from the jaws of defeat in a very hostile environment. Regular Season Game 59 of 72: Hunting For The Best Threes
Regular Season Game 59 of 72: Hunting For The Best Threes

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Clippers blew out the Minnesota Timberwolves by using the best weapon they have at their disposal: three-pointers. The 2020-21 Clippers are on pace to be the single greatest high-volume three-point shooting team in NBA history. In fact, it even goes beyond that. This Clippers team is currently second all-time in three-point percentage for a single season, but the team in first (Charlotte, 1996-97) did so during a season in which the line was moved in. All of this is just a long way of saying you’re watching the best long-distance shooting team we’ve ever seen. The numbers don’t lie on this. But how are they generating these shots? Well, that’s what this video breakdown of Sunday’s game is going to look at. They got them in transition, off of small-small pick-and-rolls, ball movement, attacking mismatches, etc. There’s no one way they’ve done, and that’s what makes it amazing to watch. Regular Season Game 58 of 72: Patterson Provides Stellar Spark
Regular Season Game 58 of 72: Patterson Provides Stellar Spark

Even though the Los Angeles Clippers lost a competitive game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, there were still plenty of positive takeways. One of them: veteran big man Patrick Patterson. Patterson finished with 18 points, knocking down five three-pointers, which allowed the Clippers to claw their way back into a game that they were seemingly out of early on. The contributions of Patterson, even in a loss, should not go unnoticed. Neither should his play this season, which has been good and helpful. This video breakdown aims to look at some of the positive plays he had on the offensive end during his time on the floor. Enjoy and stay safe! Regular Season Game 52 of 72: Diligently Dominating Dame Defensively
Regular Season Game 52 of 72: Diligently Dominating Dame Defensively

The Los Angeles Clippers soundly defeated the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night, but the biggest story from the game wasn’t the win or the offensive performance by the Clippers. Rather, it was how the team defended Damian Lillard, one of the premier shooters and scorers in the league. It was truly astounding to watch, and it’s something they’ve succeeded at time and time again. During the pre-game presser, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue said they were going to blitz Lillard from the outset. And, well, he wasn’t lying. That’s exactly what they did. This video breakdown looks at how the Clippers disrupted Lillard by blitzing him, denying him, switching against him, etc. It was one of the best defensive performances against an individual superstar all season by any team. Regular Season Game 49 of 72: Luke Kennard's Defensive Exploits
Regular Season Game 49 of 72: Luke Kennard's Defensive Exploits

Despite the Los Angeles Clippers losing to the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, there was still a positive to take from the game: Luke Kennard’s overall defense. Kennard doesn’t get a lot of credit for his defense, and sometimes that’s rightfully so, but Tuesday saw him play a good game on that end of the floor even despite him fouling out late in this one. There wasn’t much to take from the game considering it was a back-to-back, and a fourth-in-five, without four starters. And, so, with that said we decided to focus on this instead. Regular Season Game 48 of 72: Zubac, Clippers Wall Off Giannis
Regular Season Game 48 of 72: Zubac, Clippers Wall Off Giannis

Monday was probably the most impressive win of the entire season for the Los Angeles Clippers. They defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, 129-105, which sounds great overall but then you peel back the layers and see how they did it, and it becomes all the more impressive. The Clippers held Milwaukee to just 67 points in the game’s final three quarters, and a large part of that was limiting how often the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and two-time Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo was able to get a free release to the rim. Antetokounmpo finished with 32 points, but it wasn’t easy. They forced him into a lot of jumpers and kept him away from getting direct shots at the rim. A huge part of the reason for that was none other than Ivica Zubac. Zubac and the Clippers walled Antetokounmpo off tremendously. It wasn’t just a one-man effort on this night, and that’s what we’re going to look at it. We’re going to look at a few plays from the time Antetokounmpo spent against Zubac on the court and see how the Clippers, as a whole, defended him. There was some good and some bad, and sometimes you do need to look at the bad to appreciate the good. And the process with all of that matters, as we will see in this video. Stay safe and enjoy!
