In Friday’s win against the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Clippers opted to break out a zone defense more than usual. How many times? Well, 31 to be exact, according to Synergy. It was an interesting shift for them. They don’t run it a ton, but they do run it at times throughout the course of a game here and there. But it also meant that they’ve used it 45 times over the last two games. You’re probably wondering how they did. They actually did quite well with it against Houston, which was probably aided by the Rockets not being a quality three-point shooting squad. Hence why they opted to use it. This video breakdown is going to look at a few of the plays in which the Clippers decide to use a zone, and we broke down just how well it worked and why it worked. Enjoy and stay safe!
