Regular Season Game 62 of 72: Welcome To The (Danger) Zone

In Friday’s win against the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Clippers opted to break out a zone defense more than usual. How many times? Well, 31 to be exact, according to Synergy. It was an interesting shift for them. They don’t run it a ton, but they do run it at times throughout the course of a game here and there. But it also meant that they’ve used it 45 times over the last two games. You’re probably wondering how they did. They actually did quite well with it against Houston, which was probably aided by the Rockets not being a quality three-point shooting squad. Hence why they opted to use it. This video breakdown is going to look at a few of the plays in which the Clippers decide to use a zone, and we broke down just how well it worked and why it worked. Enjoy and stay safe! Western Conference Finals, Game 5: Paul George's Third Quarter Saves Clippers

With their season on the line as they went on the road for a Game 5 against the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Clippers needed a big performance out of their lone remaining star. That star delivered as Paul George finished with a playoff career-high 41 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and three steals in 41 minutes of action. George made 15 of his 20 field goal attempts, but it was his work in the third quarter alone that really salvaged and saved the season for the Clippers. George dropped 20 of his 41 in the third quarter as he took turns abusing whichever defender was thrown his way. It honestly didn’t matter who it was. They all got the work. This video breakdown will focus on the baskets that Paul George made in the third quarter en route to his 20-point barrage in that frame. He did it in a variety of ways—driving, threes, mid-range, etc. It was the best quarter he’s had in the series and it deserved to be showcased. Sit back and enjoy! Western Conference Finals, Game 1: Devin Booker Obliterates Clippers In Mid Range
Western Conference Finals, Game 1: Devin Booker Obliterates Clippers In Mid Range

A mere 36 or so hours after they bested the Utah Jazz in Game 6, the Los Angeles Clippers had to go on the road to open up the Western Conference Finals against the Phoenix Suns. In the end, the Clippers suffered a loss, their third straight series-opening loss of the postseason. The biggest reason for the loss was due to the unbelievable play of Devin Booker, who finished with 40 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. But it was what Booker did in the second half, namely in the mid-range, that was the biggest eye-opener. Booker is a fantastic mid-range player, but the Clippers just had no answer for him in that regard. Time and time again, Booker got to the spots he was most comfortable with and made the Clippers play. It wasn't necessarily bad defense all the time, but you can't allow an offensive player to dictate the tempo and area of the floor that they're going to operate in. That's what this video breakdown is going to take a look at. Enjoy and stay safe everyone! Round 2, Game 6: Terance Mann's Out of Body Experience
Round 2, Game 6: Terance Mann's Out of Body Experience

On the biggest stage in his entire life, second-year player Terance Mann delivered when the Los Angeles Clippers needed him the most. The Clippers, down superstar Kawhi Leonard and trailing the Utah Jazz by as much as 25 points in the third quarter, found a way to win Game 6 and, as a result, earn a trip to their first ever Western Conference Finals. It took 51 years for the franchise to do so, but they were ultimately led by one of their youngest players. Mann finished with a game-high-tying 39 points, and did so on some of the most ridiculous efficiency that you’ll ever see. Utah consistently left him open in the corners and he made them pay for it. He attacked them downhill, uphill and around the hill. The Jazz were left lifeless. It’s one of the greatest singular performances in the history of the Clippers franchise, and that’s what this video breakdown is going to examine. We’re going to look at just some of the ways that Terance Mann killed the Utah Jazz and helped send the Clippers to a place they’ve never been before. Enjoy and stay safe! Regular Season Game 71 of 72: A Scrubb To Be Proud Of

Second round rookie Jay Scrubb had only played eight career minutes prior to getting his first ever start on Friday night against the Houston Rockets. The Los Angeles Clippers wanted to see what they had in him. In the end, the Clippers lost the game. But they learned a lot about the type of player that Scrubb can be. The youngster finished with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists in 40 minutes. He was a plus-3 and shot 6-of-16. The offensive package is there for Scrubb, and this video breakdown will look at the baskets he scored to see what ways he’s able to generate his looks offensively and the areas he’s good in. Regular Season Game 68 of 72: Losing Track Of Shooters
Regular Season Game 68 of 72: Losing Track Of Shooters

It’s no secret that Sunday afternoon games at STAPLES Center don’t always breed the best results for the Los Angeles Clippers. It was no different this past Sunday as the New York Knicks toppled them. The Knicks made the Clippers pay time and time again as Los Angeles just kept losing track of shooters. It ultimately led to a loss, but just how did it happen? This video breakdown will take a deeper dive into some of the plays in which the Clippers got burned on defensively as the Knicks hit a multitude of three-pointers. Some of it was lazy defense. Some was good shooting. And some just happened to be a mixture of the two. Such is the way of life in the NBA. Enjoy and stay safe! Regular Season Game 65 of 72: By George, What A Bad Night
Regular Season Game 65 of 72: By George, What A Bad Night

Saturday was a pivotal point in the season for the Los Angeles Clippers. With a win, they secure the tiebreaker over the Denver Nuggets and a stranglehold on the 3-seed. Instead, they suffered defeat. It wasn’t the biggest reason that they lost, but one of the reasons they came away on the losing end was how cold Paul George went from the field. It wasn’t even just the field, either. He struggled at the free throw line, which is abnormal. George seemed to get plenty of quality looks, but he also took some rushed shots that cratered a few possessions for the team. In this video breakdown, we examine several of George’s misses and try to see what went wrong in the process. As a reminder, not every missed shot is a bad shot. Sometimes it just doesn’t go in.
