Sunderland remain at the top of League One after defeating 2nd place Accrington Stanley 2-1 at the Stadium of Light. Dan Neil scored an incredible goal after 15 minutes to put us 1-0 up before Michael Nottingham equalised on the 30th minute. Carl Winchester put us back in front at the 57th minute and we defended well until the final whistle. My MOTM is Carl Winchester. SO FRUSTRATING!! BURTON ALBION 1-0 SUNDERLAND MATCH REVIEW
Sunderland picked up their first loss of the season as we lost 1-0 away to Burton Albion. We had some glorious chances that weren't taken and we were made to rue them as Burton won the game with their only shot on target; Jonny Smith scored that in the 66th minute after some comedic defending (once again). Tom Flanagan thought he equalised in the 93rd minute but it was harshly ruled out for offside. It was a tight call but after looking at it again, it was the right one. Onto Wimbledon on Saturday! Sunderland opened the 2021/22 season with a 2-1 win against Wigan Athletic. Gwion Edwards put Wigan ahead in the 15th minute before Aiden McGeady scored from the penalty spot 90 seconds later. Ross Stewart put Sunderland ahead in the 50th minute and then the game slowly fizzled out. I got a bit carried away at the end and I forgot to do player rating and my man of the match. WE WON?? PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 1-3 SUNDERLAND MATCH REVIEW
Sunderland picked up their first win in 30 days as they beat Plymouth 3-1. Ross Stewart opened the scoring with a lovely finish from a tight angle in the first half. Joe Edwards equalised for Argyle after some poor defending from Sunderland. However, Jerome Opoku was sent off only a minute later which saw Sunderland dominate the rest of the half. Chris Maguire put Sunderland ahead in the 84th minute with a lovely penalty before Denver Hume wrapped things up in added time with an easy tap in. Sunderland secured their spot in the play-offs with this win. Will we go up through the play-offs? Peterborough dramatically got promoted after coming from 3-0 down to draw with Lincoln and Rochdale and Northampton were relegated after losing their games. WE DIDN'T LOSE!!! HULL CITY 2-2 SUNDERLAND MATCH REVIEW
Sunderland avoided defeat for the first time in 4 matches as we drew 2-2 away at Hull this evening. Jordan Jones put us ahead in the 10th minute before Josh Magennis got the equaliser after some poor defending from Sunderland. Callum Elder handled the ball in the box which saw Grant Leadbitter convert from the spot to put us back in front. Josh Magennis got his and Hull's 2nd on 70 minutes to ensure the spoils were shared. With Peterborough losing tonight, it almost feels as though we've missed any opportunity to close the gap and playoffs is basically certain now.
