Chelsea plotting a club-record deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland ahead of rivals. Chelsea has made Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland their top summer transfer target and will try to steal a march on other European giants by offering more than his release clause. The 20-year-old has been in blistering goalscoring form ever since moving to Germany and has netted 12 goals in just 11 Bundesliga appearances this season, as well as registering two assists. Haaland is one of Europe’s outstanding young talents and is on the wishlist of a number of clubs, notably Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City. A massive scramble to sign him was expected to happen in 18 months’ time, after the end of the 2021/22 season, when his £66.6million release clause becomes active. But, according to The Athletic, Chelsea is trying to jump ahead of their rivals by offering a mammoth fee this coming summer – a year before the buyout clause comes into effect. The west London club is ‘going to do their utmost’ to lure him to Stamford Bridge and is prepared to smash their transfer record, with a fee in excess of £100m likely needed to prise him away from Dortmund. The Bundesliga club wants to keep Haaland for as long as possible, even if it means losing him for a smaller fee in 2022, and will therefore demand a massive price to let him go a year early. Although most clubs have seen their finances severely hampered by the coronavirus pandemic, Chelsea has spent freely – spending over £200m last summer – and feel they can exploit the market and their rivals’ current inability to spend big. It could also mean they get a free run at Haaland over the coming months, particularly as Chelsea believe their rivals for the striker’s signature are waiting until 2022. However, Chelsea still faces a number of significant obstacles in trying to sign Haaland, not least dealing with the forward’s agent Mino Raiola. The Blues are not on the best terms with Raiola after they failed to sign Romelu Lukaku back in 2017, while Haaland himself will also need persuading to move to the Premier League having been favouring a switch to Real Madrid. Chelsea, meanwhile, do not view Haaland as a replacement for the misfiring Timo Werner and feel they would complement each other, with Olivier Giroud’s looming exit when his contract expires accelerating the need for a new target man up top. But at the core of the Warriors were the young Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis. The Warriors almost traded Curry away and built around Monta Ellis, but were absolutely lucky. While Stephen Curry would thrive, Monta Ellis would find himself out of the league at the age of 31, not because of injury, but because no one wanted him anymore. As a 6’ 3” combo guard coming straight outta high school, he had experienced nothing but success. In his senior year of high school, Monta averaged a ridiculous 38.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 4.5 steals. At one point he scored 72 points in a game, and he was named the National Player of the Year. He won two state championships and was runner up twice in his 4 years of college. Monta had the utmost confidence in himself and you could see it in his game. He was a ball hog. In fact, even before the draft, this is what scouts had to say about him. “He loves to dribble and dribble and dribble and then dribble some more. AAU ball has basically left him no grasp or comprehension of team basketball or fundamentals, and he probably wouldn't understand what's wrong with that if you tried to explain it to him.” That same report said that “He's a 6-3 SG with absolutely no PG skills whatsoever. That will limit his potential to contribute minutes initially unless he ends up on a horrible team.” And he did get drafted to a bad team. The Warriors were coming off of a 34-48 record. They hadn’t made the playoffs for 11 straight years at that point. All this led to the one player who would inadvertently drive Monta Ellis away from the Warriors. And that would be the baby-faced Stephen Curry, everyone's nightmare. As soon as Curry was drafted, Monta Ellis immediately had a problem. When asked by the media how him and Steph could play together, he simply said, “We can’t.” and that “We’re not gonna win that way.” Monta already played with a point guard like Baron Davis so you would think drafting Stephen Curry wouldn’t be that big of a problem, except drafting Curry who hadn’t shown that great of point guard skills, made people think that Monta would play more of the point guard position. I can understand where he’s coming from and after his girlfriend persisted that he apologize to Steph for those comments, Monta did and said his problem was with management. Monta went on to have his best season in 2009-10, averaging 25.5 points and 5.3 assists on 45% shooting and 31% from 3 in 41 minutes a game. Steph was surprised when he got an invite to Ellis’s wedding and thought it was Ellis’s fiance. Of course the Warriors management noticed this and saw that Curry had a great rookie season averaging 17.5 points and 5.9 assists off of 46% from the field and 44% from 3. Stephen Curry even won the sportsmanship award. But… the Warriors management wasn’t the management of today. They chose Monta and looked to trade Steph, at least based off the Bucks owner Marc Lasry who said the Warriors offered Stephen Curry for Andrew Bogut and the Bucks rejected them because of Steph’s ankle health. Steph had tweaked his ankles five times in the season before and in the offseason, he went through offseason surgery and in January of 2012, he sprained his ankle again. So the Warriors with no other real options, decided to trade Monta instead of Steph and take a chance on Steph. Warriors fans loved Monta and booed Chris Mullin at his jersey retirement. The Mavericks would make the 8th seed in 2014 and Monta averaged 20 points in that series losing. In the 2015 playoffs at the age of 29, Monta averaged 26 points in 5 games in the playoffs along with 5.2 assists shooting 47% from the field and shooting 37% from 3 on 6 3s a game. It was his peak, but the Mavs still lost. The thing is I think Monta could be effective if he’s added a 3 ball and if he’s the leader of the second unit. Being out of the league should be a humbling experience and make you hungrier. He’s only 33 and so he definitely shouldn’t be a washed player, even with all those minutes. Teams are worried about Ellis’s knee, but at the end of that day, Monta Ellis has himself to blame for his career, but I think that if he’s changed himself, he really can be exciting and help a team out. What's Up YouTube, On First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman they discuss The Houston Rockets James Harden. James Harden thinks he was cheated by the referees. Oh the irony! James Harden has been a well known flopper for the past year. For him to complain about not getting calls is down right ridiculous! I am happy the referees are not playing into James's flop tactics. The referees let it go during the regular season. But now it seems they are making sure you are using pure skill to get points and not rely on the referees as the sixth man. It will be very difficult to win a Championship off of flopping. You should not be able to win a Championship off of flopping, because it cheats the game! I think this will be a great series. James Harden is a great player and I have the utmost respect for his skill set, when he uses it! I think this series will most likely be better than than the Finals. That is why I want to see James Harden playing hard and not flopping! I will periodically give my opinion throughout this video, [COMMENTARY STYLE]. Since the close of the last NPFL chapter, 2015/2016 season in November which saw FC Ifeanyi Ubah finish 4th and the confirmation of the Anambra Warriors as Continental Ambassadors come the 2016/2017 chapter of the NPFL last December, His Excellency, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has sunk at least over 500 million Naira into the stadium. The monies were spent on the follwoing areas: 1. Importation of natural grasses from Holland and intensive fertilizer injection to yield the best natural turf in Nigeria if not the best privately owned natrual turf in Africa 2. Acquisition of customised and branded spectator seats. Over 100,000 of these hard plastic seats have been acquired for the comfort and pleasure of our esteemed fans who are the main reason behind our astronomical success. The seats come in different colors but are of the same high quality and standard and also flexible on the back to avoid back pains when leaned on. 3. Installation of the FCIU seats. Customised bolts, nuts and rivets were used in the installation of about 60,000 seats. This ensures that every dedicated sqaure inch of the spectator arena, has a seat which eliminates the need to fight for or struggle for seats. 4. Construction of VIP Lounges and Parlors. The Dr Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium will come equipped with private and customised VIP Lounges and Parlours for fans of the club who which to indulge in experiencing the unique entertainment provided by the Anambra Warriors in grand style. 5. Acquisition of FIFA/CAF approved goal posts. Ahead of the continental engagement, massive upgrades have been undertaken to meet the required specifications as enumerated by the relevant authorities which include but not limited to the acquisition of approved goal posts and the accessories. 6. Installation of Safety Barriers. Safety and Security is paramount at Dr Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium, Nnewi which is highlighted by the installation of safety barriers to prevent pitch encroachment and discourage crowd unrest thereby, guaranteeing a very safe environment fit for everyone: mothers, children, family even pregnant women and men. 7. Initial Casting For Stadium Cover. The stadium will be covered to protect fans from the elements during games which will allow them enjoy matches in the utmost comfort and ambience.
