Alan Shearer disagrees with Jamie Carragher on the 'rubbish' incident in Chelsea vs Liverpool.
Alan Shearer disagrees with Jamie Carragher on the 'rubbish' incident in Chelsea vs Liverpool.

Chelsea news: Alan Shearer has had his say on Sadio Mane's challenge in the opening six seconds of the Blues' thrilling 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. Alan Shearer is adamant Sadio Mane should have been shown a red card in the opening seconds of Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday. The ball was played out to the left-hand side of the pitch, with Mane and Cesar Azpilicueta both jumping and challenging for the ball, with the former clearly catching the latter with his arm. However, Anthony Taylor only showed Mane a yellow card with just six seconds on the clock - leaving Thomas Tuchel incensed on the touchline. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, when speaking after the match on Sky Sports, does not think Mane did enough to warrant a sending off. Chelsea boss Tuchel has claimed the VAR never checked the Mane incident - and also referenced the reverse fixture earlier in the season where Reece James was shown a straight red card. Tuchel said this after the game: "In the first game, we got the red card and the referee was so quick to give the red card. They did not check it, I hate to say it normally as I don't like a red card early in the game, it can kill it. "The public is here to see 11 vs 11, Sadio Mane should always be on the pitch because he is a brilliant player and a good guy, but it is a red card. "If you do not check and then can check our goal and maybe take it away... it is hard to swallow, but what can we do?" https://youtu.be/MlR8HrMou9o

You can have it all delivered straight from me to you, please subscribe for my daily video, It's free and only takes a few seconds. Tuchel explains the reason why this Chelsea ace got their first league starts this season against Fulham and Abramovich is a “football nut” claims Sky pundit. Thomas Tuchel reveals why Billy Gilmour got a rare nod for Chelsea against Fulham. Speaking to Sky Sports, Thomas Tuchel explained that Billy Gilmour started for Chelsea against Fulham because of his commitment shown in training sessions and due to fitness concerns for his side. The Scottish midfielder has found game time tough to come by under Tuchel ever since his appointment. The former PSG boss even stopped a loan move for Gilmour at the end of the January transfer window. Finally some minutes Tuchel started before the game that it was necessary to rest midfielders N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, which is why Gilmour got the nod. Not just that, but the manager was also impressed by the youngster’s attitude in training. Speaking further, Tuchel added why Gilmour is not being used so frequently. He said that it was because he did not want to overwork the teenager. They’ve ended up having a discussion about the protest against the “Super League”, and in this case against the Glazer family, who own Manchester United. Graeme Souness - "I've been in Abramovich's company a couple of times and he's a football nut. He doesn’t care about doubling or tripling his investment, he’s just a football nut.” Graeme Souness made an interesting comparison between the United owners – who bought the club with debt and have extracted money from it, and Roman Abramovich, who owns Chelsea. He pointed out that – having met Abramovich – he knows he’s a “football nut” and owns Chelsea (at least in part) because he likes the sport. Man U’s owners are apparently only in it for the cash. In the end, the result was the same in this case. Both teams signed up for the Super League. But perhaps we can expect a more understanding attitude from above at Stamford Bridge now we’ve made it clear we don’t want it. How many points Chelsea need to win the top-four battle against West Ham, Liverpool, and Tottenham Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel know what it will take to ensure Champions League qualification for the 2021/22 season, the Blues have four Premier League games remaining. Chelsea's hopes of a top-four finish in the Premier League this season have been given a massive boost. Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel has refused to get carried away, but with a maximum of five games left of the campaign for some, it is becoming clearer as to which four teams will qualify for the Champions League next season. Although, anything can happen in the Premier League and there's still work for the Blues to do in order to ensure they are at European football's top table in 2021/22. Following Everton's 2-1 loss to Aston Villa, it is looking like one from four for the final Champions League spot - but it could very well turn out to be two from five. So what does this all mean for Chelsea, Tuchel, and the top-four battle? Well, the Blues have four games left in their season, which means they can achieve a maximum of 73 points by the end of the campaign if they beat Manchester City, Arsenal, Leicester City, and Aston Villa. With that said, three wins could be enough. That is because West Ham - in action at Burnley on today night - has five games remaining but can only achieve a maximum points total of 70. And as a result of Chelsea's superior goal difference, 70 points should be enough to seal yet another top-four finish. Liverpool and Tottenham's maximum points total is 69 and 68 respectively, which means Chelsea needs three more wins to ensure neither club finishes above them in the table. In fact, the Blues may have eyes on catching Leicester in third as just two points separates them in the table and they meet at Stamford Bridge in a couple of weeks. Chelsea's remaining Premier League fixtures 08/05 - Man City (away), 12/05 - Arsenal (home), 19/05 - Leicester City (home), 23/05 - Aston Villa (away). ONLY CHILWELL, THIAGO SILVA, AZPILICUETA, ZIYECH, AND PULISIC HAD REACHED THIS STAGE BEFORE It all means we have a semi-final in the world’s elite domestic competition to look forward to against either Real Madrid or Liverpool, with Tuchel saying he will enjoy watching the second leg of that tie tomorrow safe in the knowledge we have already booked our spot in the last four. It was an assured second-leg showing from the Blues that got us there… ‘We accepted what was needed tonight and I think we deserved to go through,’ assessed Tuchel. ‘It was a tough game, perhaps not the best to watch on the television, but from the sidelines, I could see a very fast and intense match. ‘It was a tough fight and we had to work hard at times to escape the pressure. They played in a very fluid and aggressive way. They showed that they can change positions all the time, they come up behind and overlap and then, in the next instance, they can underlap. So we had to be ready to adapt to their many movements. ‘With every minute that went by, we did that even better and overall I am very happy with how we defended and managed this difficult game. ‘There was a lot of work to do without praise; there was nobody there to cheer you for a tackle. A lot of hard work in secret was done, and that is why I am very happy.’ “THE SEMI-FINAL OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE! IT’S A BIG ACHIEVEMENT FOR ALL OF US” | THOMAS TUCHEL POST MATCH Tuchel underlined the professionalism of his young side’s performance ‘It felt like we weren’t in danger on the bench, but I was still nervous because football can change. It can be a crazy goal, a deflection, or a bicycle kick, it can happen no matter how good you defend. ‘It’s very hard to play your best game against Porto. It’s part of your performance to not let your opponents perform. This is what they do, and this what we do also. Today was a day to hang in, show the effort and intensity, and team spirit we needed. ‘If you don’t have a lot of experience and you have a young team, it’s the moment to be together and fight hard. We deserved a clean sheet again, we deserved a clean sheet at Crystal Palace, and this was the key. ‘When you work hard, when you sweat a lot, you cannot be nervous. We encouraged everybody to accept we play hard games like this almost every three days at this intense level.’ Mateo Kovacic missed out through injury ‘Yesterday in training he got a muscle injury in his hamstring after 20 minutes, more or less out of nothing. He is for sure out for the game against City as well, which is a big loss. ‘I was very sad for him. We don’t have so many experienced players who have played the Champions League many times. When the anthem plays he is relaxed and at the same time, he is a hard fighter. ‘Everybody is happy to have him around so we did it also for him today.’ N’Golo Kante came through the 90 minutes unscathed and was excellent in midfield ‘We took a little risk with N’Golo but this was the moment to put him on the field and hope he had the energy for 90 minutes. N’Golo is incredible. He is like one-and-a-half or two players. Everyone who sees him for the first time loves him. All my family loves him when they watch our games now! ‘It’s so nice to have him. He wins so many balls and gives everybody confidence. He did perfect and now it’s time to recover well.’ Another huge test awaits in the form of Real Madrid or Liverpool ‘We have arrived here with a very young team, but we want to turn that around. What a young team can always do is fight, run, hang in there and take it as an adventure. Hopefully, we stay adventurous and brave enough to accept the challenge. ‘It’s a big step to be in a semi-final. It’s a very big achievement. We are not used to being there, and once you are there you play for the final. We need every minute to learn and grow, and you cannot improve without these big experiences. We are doing that while we are playing it.’ Please do not forget to subscribe, like, share, and comment, Thanks for watching. https://youtu.be/D7hpC6OnBv4

Christian Pulisic sends top four messages to West Ham and Liverpool as Chelsea stars sent warning The Chelsea morning digest from me as the Blues surged to take every match 'seriously' by American star Christian Pulisic, with a place in the top four up for grabs. Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Tuesday, April 13. Chelsea's Champions League opponents Off the back of their thumping Premier League win over Crystal Palace, Chelsea are quickly back into action once more with a Champions League quarter-final second leg against Porto this evening up next. Going into the game with a 2-0 lead the Blues are in pole position to make it through to their first Champions League semi-final since 2014, but it looks like Porto will be fielding a stronger team this time around. Star midfielder Sergio Oliveira missed the first-leg through suspension and was only a substitute for Porto's league clash with Tondela on the weekend. Porto manager Sergio Conceicao said "we will see" when asked about Oliveira's chances of featuring tonight but with the midfielder managing 23 minutes on the weekend the expectation is that he will start the match. The midfielder has netted 19 goals so far this season, including five in seven Champions League matches, and will add a greater attacking threat to the Portuguese team if selected by Conceicao. Serious Pulisic on Chelsea's top-four strategy Christian Pulisic has said that Chelsea will take every game 'seriously' between now and the end of the season in order to ensure Champions League football next season. The American international scored in both halves of the win against Crystal Palace and was pleased to put the horrific 5-2 defeat to West Brom behind the team and look forward to the coming matches as the season enters its business end. The Blues briefly went back into fourth after the win as they moved above Liverpool, but Tuchel's side was overtaken on Sunday by West Ham, who moved into the fourth spot after a 3-2 victory against Leicester City. But Pulisic is feeling good about Chelsea's top four prospects with seven games to play, including a game against West Ham later this month. Speaking after the win against Palace, Pulisic said: "I'm feeling really confident, I'm feeling very good with the team as well. It was a big response from the last Premier League game. "We're not going to win every game and we had a tough game against West Brom, for sure. We didn't play to our usual standard, but that's going to happen and we were able to respond. "The way we responded over this week and got the results, we're definitely happy." Shearer's warning to Chelsea strikers Alan Shearer has praised Thomas Tuchel for his team selection against Crystal Palace, but in doing so has highlighted an issue for three men who were left out at Selhurst Park. None of Olivier Giroud, Tammy Abraham, or Timo Werner were selected from the start against Roy Hodgson's side and such was the quality of Chelsea's attacking display, the trio my struggle to oust Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, and Pulisic from the starting XI going forward. "I thought it was a very clever team selection to not play Giroud or Abraham but instead play Havertz, Pulisic, and Mount, who like to drop deep," Shearer told BBC Sport. The former England international added: "They created chance after chance. Havertz, who played very well and scored one, had an assist, probably should’ve scored another couple of goals." "As I said it was a constant, a defender just didn’t want to come out and close them down. He [Mount] was clever in everything he did as well. "Second half it didn’t change… it’s all from those players dropping deep and getting the ball and as I said they were just too good for them. It was a superb performance from Chelsea, particularly going forward." Please do not forget to subscribe, like, share, and comment, Thanks for watching. https://youtu.be/ZNSNCVJB-Ds

Today I have more news coming up. Before we start the video, please subscribe, like, share, and feel free to comment... Chelsea fixtures, April 20: Brighton (Home), April 24: West Ham (Away), May 1: Fulham (Home), May 8: Man City (Away), May 12: Arsenal (Home), May 15: Leicester (Home), May 23: Aston Villa (Away). Consistently in and around the top-four positions throughout this season, the Foxes did fall away at a similar stage 12 months ago - and that will serve as inspiration to the other contenders. Despite losing out to the Hammers this afternoon, Brendan Rodgers and his side do have some favorable contests to come, before an undeniably tough triple-header finale against United, the Blues, and Tottenham. Leicester fixtures, April 22: West Brom (Home), April 26: Crystal Palace (Home), May 1: Southampton (Away), May 8: Newcastle (Home), May 11: Man United (Away), May 15: Chelsea (Away), May 23: Tottenham (Home). As much as Chelsea fans don't want to hear it, you can't deny how impressive the Hammers have been this season, inspired of late by recently-recalled England forward Lingard. His tally of eight goals in nine games since joining on loan from United has been fundamental - and West Ham only has two top-half tests left to come... West Ham fixtures, April 17: Newcastle (Away), April 24: Chelsea (Home), May 1: Burnley (Away), May 8: Everton (Home), May 11: Brighton (Away), May 15: West Brom (Away), May 23: Southampton (Home). A torrid run of form after Christmas saw them relinquish their one-season hold on the Premier League title - but it seems to be business as usual for Jurgen Klopp's side over the last couple of weeks. Liverpool won't be relishing a trip to Leeds next up, especially after what they did to City, but five of their other six fixtures are against teams in the lower reaches of the table. Liverpool fixtures, April 19: Leeds (Away), April 24: Newcastle (Home), May 1: Man United (Away), May 8: Southampton (Home), May 11: West Brom (Away), May 15: Burnley (Away), May 23: Crystal Palace (Home). Spurs are now six points behind West Ham following this afternoon's defeat against United, who themselves are a healthy nine clear of Chelsea in fifth-place - and with just seven matches remaining. You would think that one more defeat would spell the end of their top-four charge, although Tottenham does have a Carabao Cup final to look forward to this month... Tottenham fixtures, April 16: Everton (Away), April 21: Southampton (Home), May 1: Sheffield United (Home), May 8: Leeds (Away), May 12: Wolves (Home), May 15: Aston Villa (Home), May 23: Leicester (Away). Don't count them out just yet. Everton may be sitting in eighth-place as things stand, but they do have two games in hand on the other five clubs locked in battle. One of those comes against lowly Brighton today night. Victory in both, meanwhile, would put the Toffees into sixth-place - only two points shy of surprise package West Ham. Everton fixtures April 12: Brighton (Away), April 16: Tottenham (Home), April 23: Arsenal (Away), May 1: Aston Villa (Home), May 8: West Ham (Away), May 11: Sheffield United (Home), May 15: Wolves (Home), May 23: Man City (Away). My verdict: There is no doubt that Chelsea has as difficult a final stretch as any of the other sides that remain in the mix for Champions League football ahead of next season. However, they can take encouragement from how they have performed since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel in January - one shock result against second-bottom West Brom aside. West Ham and reigning champions Liverpool, perhaps, have the most favorable run-in on paper. In a season that continues to provide unpredictable results behind closed doors, in the midst of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it would take a brave decision to pick those final top-four places with any conviction. Despite having to face the likes of West Ham, Leicester, and champions-elect City, those games do, in one sense, mean qualification is very much in Chelsea's hands. Alan Shearer praises three Chelsea stars and Thomas Tuchel’s ‘very clever team selection after Crystal Palace win, Graeme Souness sends warning to Man City, Man United and Liverpool after Chelsea win. Alan Shearer praised Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, and Mason Mount, as well as Thomas Tuchel for selecting them, after Chelsea’s 4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace on Saturday. With no recognized striker in the starting XI at Selhurst Park, Havertz played as a false nine with Pulisic and Mount either side of him as the Blues earned a valuable victory to push them back into the top-four places. German international Havertz scored the first with a fine finish on his left foot and set up Pulisic to lash home from close range before Mount’s free-kick found the head of Kurt Zouma to make it 3-0 inside 30 minutes. And speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, Shearer admitted the attacking threat of Chelsea’s front three was too much for Palace and praised Tuchel’s decision to field them. He said: ‘I thought it was a very clever team selection to not play Giroud or Abraham but instead play Havertz, Pulisic, and Mount, who like to drop deep whereas the two big center-forwards might want to go up and scrap against the two big center-halves [Cheikhou] Kouyate and [Gary] Cahill. ‘And those three today were just too good for those two because they didn’t want to come out, they didn’t want to go and mark one of them because if they had of then they leave the space in behind and that caused them problems. ‘They created chance after chance. ‘Havertz, who played very well today scored one, had an assist, probably should’ve scored another couple of goals. ‘As I said it was a constant, a defender just didn’t want to come out and close them down. Pulisic gets his first goal. ‘He [Mount] was clever in everything he did as well. ‘Second half it didn’t change… it’s all from those players dropping deep and getting the ball and as I said they were just too good for them. ‘It was a superb performance from Chelsea, particularly going forward.’ Graeme Souness sends warning to Man City, Man United and Liverpool after Chelsea win The Liverpool legend says Chelsea has the second-best squad heading into the 2021-22 season, impressed by the win over Crystal Palace. Graeme Souness says Chelsea's squad is the second strongest in the Premier League, putting them ahead of his beloved Liverpool behind only Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. The Blues romped to a comfortable 4-1 win over London rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, lifting them back into the top four. Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Kurt Zouma, and Hakim Ziyech were on target - but not Timo Werner as he was left on the bench by his countryman. Speaking ahead of kick-off, Tuchel admitted that his lack of form had played a part in his move to the bench, replaces by Pulisic. And Souness believes it is the lack of an in-form striker separating Chelsea from reaching their full potential. "If you were a school teacher marking Tuchel’s performance, it’s nearly perfect other than last week," said Souness, speaking to Sky Sports. "They had a very easy game today against a Palace team that had the majority of players in their armchairs. "I think City have an incredible squad, I’d go as far as to say the best I’ve ever seen in English football, City. But I think Chelsea have the second-best group," he admitted. Next season's Premier League title race is impossible to predict this early with each of England's big boys tipped to do big transfer business during the summer. The final destination of Borussia Dortmund's talent Erling Haaland could prove a deciding factor while Manchester City embarks on a quest to find a striker to replace Sergio Aguero. Harry Kane has also been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur with Sky Sports reporting that the England star will this summer demand he is sold by his boyhood club, should they fail to qualify for the Champions League. "When you’ve got someone who’s scoring for fun, everyone else gets better - there’s more confidence in the group.” Please do not forget to subscribe, like, share, and comment, Thanks for watching. https://youtu.be/zbRoi3egCXg

Hakim Ziyech adds shine to Chelsea victory over Sheffield United to reach FA Cup semi-finals Chelsea 2-0 Sheffield United: An Oliver Norwood's own-goal put the Blues on their way before the Moroccan’s late second. Hakim Ziyech’s late strike secured a 2-0 victory for Chelsea and a place in the FA Cup semi-finals but Thomas Tuchel’s side was pushed close by Sheffield United. The Blues, who have now gone more than 11 hours at Stamford Bridge without conceding, took the lead thanks to Oliver Norwood’s own goal after Ben Chilwell’s powerful strike towards goal. Christian Pulisic failed to score after conjuring up two great chances with individual brilliance, while David McGoldrick nodded wide when left completely free less than 10 yards from goal. There was one final chance for the visitors as Rhian Brewster’s strike was deflected inches wide of the near post before the Moroccan races clear to collect Chilwell’s cross and smashed past Aaron Ramsdale. Even amid a circumspect performance Chelsea still merited victory, extending boss Thomas Tuchel’s club record-breaking unbeaten start to 14 matches. Toothless for 60 minutes, the Blades’ only early bite came amid a string of needless tackles, many off the ball, and a handful directed at Pulisic. Had the visitors invested as much energy reserved for the dark arts in attempting to carry out their game plan in that opening hour, the tie could have been very different. Instead, Chelsea was allowed to meander to a victory as low key as it was routine, escaping several late wobbles to ease into the last four. Had the visitors invested as much energy reserved for the dark arts in attempting to carry out their game plan in that opening hour, the tie could have been very different. Instead, Chelsea was allowed to meander to a victory as low key as it was routine, escaping several late wobbles to ease into the last four. Boss Tuchel made nine changes from the 2-0 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, with Billy Gilmour handed a rare start in midfield. The German was not happy with the performance, making a host of changes just past the hour mark in a bid to inject some impetus into the Blues’ showing. But the demanding boss will certainly be content with the result, especially with widespread rotation helping to manage the fixture glut. Chelsea took the lead without even registering a shot on target. Chilwell’s drilled ball into the area deflected off Norwood and into the Blades midfielder’s own net. A cagey first half yielded precious few chances and the visitors entirely wasted the point of their 4-4-2 formation. A tactical switch designed to exploit space behind Chelsea‘s wing-backs, the Blades never even sought those areas let alone raided the flanks. Chelsea was perfectly happy to play the ball in front of the passive Blades, who also made a clear purpose of not pressing their opponents. Pulisic should have doubled the lead when sneaking in, but could not dink the ball high enough to beat the onrushing Aaron Ramsdale. The United States forward wasted another glorious chance straight after the interval, seemingly stunned to stroll past two defenders and still have bags of time when through on goal. All that time created the chance for thought and, rather than smash his laces through the ball, Pulisic went for placement but scuffed his strike, allowing Ramsdale to bat away to safety. McGoldrick missed a gilt-edged chance for the Blades - their best opening - as Chelsea‘s foot came too far off the gas. Oliver McBurnie then stung Kepa Arrizabalaga’s palms from a distance as finally, the Blades made Chelsea work. Rhian Brewster flashed wide when latching on to a second ball at the death, but Chelsea held on - and even had time for Ziyech to seal their progress. please subscribe, like, share and feel free to comment...
