A classic love story with a Colts connection
It’s a classic love story, but with a Colts connection. Two people fall in love, on a football field (Lucas Oil Stadium), and they pick a preacher only fit for a member of the Horseshoe. Parks Frazier was hired by the Indianapolis Colts in 2018 to serve as an assistant to the head coach. “I was actually going to training camp two years ago and I think it was the opening and I think it was the opening interview,” said Frazier. “I was standing in the back, and Caroline was too.” Caroline Cann is the former reporter for Colts.com, which is how she met current Colts offensive assistant and her other half, Parks. The two got engaged during this past NFL season and planned their wedding for this crazy offseason. “So, we did have to pivot and make some changes but I think the thing him and I both focused on from the very beginning was this is about us getting married,” Caroline said. “So, as long as him and myself and Frank could be there, then we are going to have the day.” Frank, as in Colts Head Coach Frank Reich. He’s an important piece of this love story, because he’s the one that actually tied the knot for the Fraziers. “As an ordained minister, one of the greatest privileges is performing a wedding. It’s just so fun to see two people coming together. It was especially, especially meaningful for when you know them both. And then on top of that, when you know them like they’re family,” said Reich. He added, “For the two of them to ask me to perform the wedding, I was blown away. It was a great privilege and it was a lot of fun. It was a special day. It was a special day. There are a great couple and really, I was privileged to be part of that ceremony.” Caroline said, ”I have had a couple of fans reach out to me and say that’s so cool that coach Reich married you. I’m thinking that is cool but who married us was Frank Reich.” Reich has only performed a couple of wedding ceremonies before, but he has given plenty of pre-game and halftime speeches. “When you’re performing a ceremony of people that you know and love, what makes it special is to add the personal connection. So, as I was preparing that, I was like, what am I going to say to these two?,” he said. “And it was only appropriate that I said, ‘you want to know what the great foundation for a marriage is?’ And it just happened to be the three T’s that we talked about as a football team.” Reich first shared this quote two years ago when he was hired as the leader of the Colts. His first message to his new team was “to build a culture with three ‘T’s’: trust, toughness and teamwork.” So, naturally that was the foundation for Reich’s sermon at the Frazier wedding. Parks explained, ”Oddly enough only in Frank Reich fashion, his message was specifically revolved around trust, toughness and team.” “To be standing there in a wedding dress and his tux and we are getting married and he’s telling us trust, toughness and team,” Caroline said. “We did, we all shared a laugh because you know this is going to be easy for us to remember that this is how you build a strong foundation in a marriage.” Parks added that Frank Reich and his wife Linda are two of his biggest role models in life, saying, “Who they are and how they have gone about both his playing career and now his coaching career and how they have navigated that. No matter who you talk to in this business, they have the utmost respect for them.” Caroline echoed that. She said, “I think as we go throughout his career in coaching and us beginning this new life together that’s who I want to model this after. I want to make sure we are treating people correctly, approaching this job and the building and the culture of the Colts or you know any team. Gary Rowett spoke to millwallfc.co.uk following The Lions' 2-1 Sky Bet #championship victory over Stoke City at The Den on Saturday afternoon. Romaine Sawyers gave The Potters a lead in SE16, but two goals from Tom Bradshaw - following a change of shape from the manager - earned Millwall a second consecutive win. The recent record now also stands at four wins in five and one defeat in 10, putting the club level with six other clubs on 21 points in the race for a top six place. "It's a massive three points," said Rowett. "We've spoken all week about trying to play on the front foot and with the agressive intensity that our fans want to see and we all want to see. For some reason, we didn't do that to start with. "You've got to respect the fact that Stoke are a really good side - they've got Sawyers, Vrancic, Joe Allen, who I know all about. They controlled those midfield areas early on and made it difficult for us to put any pressure on. For 20 minutes, we really struggled. We kept trying to play forward when there wasn't any space available, the ball kept going out of play and we didn't play with any calmness or quality. "As you'd expect, the stadium felt edgy. I thought we were better in the final 15-20 minutes of the first-half - we had two or three breakaways in which we should've done better. We gave away a poor goal where we stand off and allow two or three players to take a touch and then have a shot. They're the little moments where you have to do better defensively. "We then looked brighter going in at half-time, despite the frustration. We want to find a solution to our home form and some of the performances. I know we haven't played well enough at home, consistently, in periods. It's something we've really tried to work hard on this week." The substitution of Matt Smith for George Evans shortly into the second-half facilitated a change of shape for The Lions. "Evo got a bang to his calf at half-time - we thought it was worth changing it. I thought about going 4-2-3-1; Smudge is unlucky not to start the game. But, on the back of a difficult Sheffield United performance, it was difficult to change too much. We needed to give them a chance to go again. But, with the extra body in those forward areas, we looked a lot more threatening. "We scored two very good goals - Bradders deserves that. When he has played, whatever you want him to do as a manager, he'll do to his utmost ability. His effort in every game is incredible and he'll do whatever he can to score goals. He hasn't had a lot of luck in front of goal, but he is a really good team player. He epitomises what we do on the pitch when we do things right. Gary McGowan had been captured just ahead of the fixture from Banks o’ Dee & was on the bench. The injured Sam Burnett was replaced by Ross Still in the starting line up. Rothes arrived in the Aberdeenshire capital fresh from a comprehensive win over Buckie Thistle. The man in the middle was Filippo Mazzoni, taking care of his first Locos fixture since matchday one of the previous campaign. This one kicked off in dreich drizzle, with Locos attacking the Harlaw Road end. Dingwall strode forward with bis swerving shot clearing the bar. Still & MacKenzie had efforts caught by their opposing goalies with McCarthy then swiftly off his line with Souter sneaking in on the blindside. A Cormack shot was easily caught but this tussle was ignited by a goal fit to grace any stadium in the world. Rob WARD made space for himself before rasping in a crackerjack that was made all the more spectacular by kissing the woodwork on it’s route to swishing the onion bag. What a lovely, lovely goal by the Locos top scorer. Meres saw McCarthy show nice glovemanship next as a driven low ball was gathered. Andy Reid denied a near certain Cormack goal with a top point blank save. Shanks was working like a beaver & had a low shot held, with a Johnstone pass nearly ending up in his own net. A Locos chance was then cleared from below the bar, with loud appeals for the ball having crossed the line, with Dingwall’s rebound driven into the ground & skipping up & over. Ward marauded forward & lashed a thirty yarder wide. Locos had been the better of two good sides & the 1-0 half-time score was fair. Ward caused havoc at the beginning of the second period & played in Shanks for a pop at goal. Rothes levelled next with Fraser ROBERTSON heading home a rebound after a Locos error gifted Rothes possession. Allan Pollock fired over & had a quick free kick go wide, whilst Dingwall had another effort fly over the crossbar with Ward shooting into the sidenet. Keeper McCarthy dropped the football under no pressure but was able to compose himself & retrieve it before Locos capitalize. McGowan came on for his debut & impressed in this Harlaw cameo. Sub Gauld had an effort deflect wide & Still had a header go wide. Morrison’s late shot was easily fielded by Reid & the Mazzoni whistle confirmed that Locos had played out their one hundredth draw in senior soccer. Locos had created more than the visitors but Rothes had more significant possession & possibly just edged proceedings in general open play. Therefore the share of the spoils had a reasonable & logical feel to it. The number four was to the fore at full time. Locos in fourth, four points off the lead & one of only four teams left unbeaten. It’s an away day at Bellslea next against the strongest side thus far, with their second half performance in the cup final perhaps the best football observed in this campaign. Newcastle need to sign players! AND FAST!
Newcastle boss Steve Bruce provided a transfer update after his side's friendly win at Burton and says the club are working on bringing new players in. Steve Bruce left a few Newcastle fans scratching their heads after last night’s 2-0 win at Burton, offering a contradictory update on our search for new signings. The NUFC boss insisted that we are “doing our utmost” to bring Joe Willock back to the club…but went on to say that we “haven’t bid for anybody yet” just seconds later. Odd and altogether frustrating, however Bruce did state that he remains confident we’ll “bring in two of three new players” – even if fans may have to wait “another week or so” to see new signings arrive. The 60-year-old also played down claims that a new ‘three-year deal’ was in the offing, saying that was ‘news to him.’ That said, he did confirm that his current contract does NOT expire next summer – suggesting the ‘initial’ three-year deal he signed back in 2019 has been extended, perhaps via a rolling contract. Bruce also confirmed that Callum Wilson missed out on the 2-0 win with a ‘slight knock’ to his hamstring.
