Forget failed Red Bull protest - Ferrari must blame itself for losing F1's Monaco GP

Ferrari only has itself to blame for throwing away what seemed like a certain victory in the Monaco Grand Prix after turning a one-two in the early stages into second and fourth place for Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. Leclerc didn’t even finish on the podium having started from pole position and then led the first 17 laps, thanks to two strategic errors by the Ferrari pitwall. As for Sainz, he had to argue against the incorrect strategy the team tried to put him on - something that might have saved Ferrari from itself but for an inconvenient backmarker getting in the way. Ferrari has a car capable of fighting for the championship, but the lack of sharpness meant that in changeable conditions in Monaco it was out-manouevred by Red Bull. And it was nothing to do with Perez or Max Verstappen touching the yellow line at the pit exit, which only became an issue post-race because of a careless error by the race director ahead of the weekend. #F1 #MonacoGP #Ferrari READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/mark-hughes-how-red-bull-ambushed-untouchable-ferrari/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

The signs Daniel Ricciardo's McLaren F1 contract could be cut short
The signs Daniel Ricciardo's McLaren F1 contract could be cut short

Daniel Ricciardo’s move to McLaren in 2021 seemed a match made in heaven between a proven race winner hungry for a shot at the world championship and a legendary team working its way back to being a title contender. The reality has fallen dramatically short of that. Ricciardo struggled last year but hopes things would be different in 2022 have so far proved wide of the mark. And now, we are starting to see hints that his time with the team might not extend beyond the end of this season. #F1 #DanielRicciardo #McLaren READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/ricciardo-comment-adds-to-inevitable-mclaren-2023-doubts/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

How escaping Red Bull has transformed Alex Albon's faltering F1 career
How escaping Red Bull has transformed Alex Albon's faltering F1 career

Alex Albon is a completely different driver in 2022 to the one who looked hopelessly lost during his final months with Red Bull Racing two seasons ago. There was an element of risk for Williams in signing him, as despite Albon being highly-regarded as a driver with tremendous ability, he struggled when up against Max Verstappen at Red Bull. The hope was always that Albon’s blend of F1 experience, top-team know-how and determination to reignite his F1 career would coalesce and he’d finally fulfil his prodigious potential in F1. Based on the first five races of the season it was an inspired signing - giving Williams a talismanic driver to replace the seemingly-irreplaceable George Russell. #F1 #AlexAlbon #Williams Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

What's really behind F1's weird Lewis Hamilton/Sebastian Vettel/FIA feud
What's really behind F1's weird Lewis Hamilton/Sebastian Vettel/FIA feud

Open defiance from Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel in the wake of an FIA rules clampdown has put a weird Formula 1 feud in the spotlight. The two most decorated drivers on the F1 grid have been the most prominent objectors to the FIA suddenly enforcing long-standing rules on jewellery and flameproof underwear. Hamilton now appears to be locked in a stand-off with the governing body that could result in him eventually being hit with a fine of more than $250,000 every time he drives the car. But this bizarre feud over nose piercings and pants also seems to be linked to a deeper divide between F1 and its governing body. #F1 #FIA READ MORE HERE: Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

Why Valtteri Bottas now has what Mercedes wouldn't give him in F1
Why Valtteri Bottas now has what Mercedes wouldn't give him in F1

Valtteri Bottas is experiencing something for the first time in Formula 1. After nine seasons, almost 200 races and 10 grand prix victories, he is finally top dog at a team. It’s partly a result of circumstance, joining Alfa Romeo alongside F1 rookie Zhou Guanyu, but it’s also by design. Five seasons as Lewis Hamilton’s wingman at Mercedes left Bottas in need of a change. And just a few races in, there is already a noticeable difference. #F1 #ValtteriBottas #Mercedes #AlfaRomeo Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

Why Ferrari hasn't upgraded its 2022 F1 car yet
Why Ferrari hasn't upgraded its 2022 F1 car yet

In a Formula 1 season everyone was tipping to be a massive development race with all-new rules - Ferrari is leading both championships without upgrading its car at all. The F1-75 has won two of the first four races despite pretty much existing in its launch specification, give or take some circuit-specific downforce configurations. Rival Red Bull already introduced one big upgrade during testing and it has started a big weight-saving exercise as well. So the pressure is on Ferrari to respond at some point - but it’s sticking to its original plan for now. #F1 #Ferrari #CharlesLeclerc Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

The first evidence Mercedes won't save its bleak 2022 F1 season
The first evidence Mercedes won't save its bleak 2022 F1 season

Mercedes' worst weekend yet in an awful start to the 2022 Formula 1 season has led the team and star driver Lewis Hamilton to a bleak verdict on its fading championship hopes. With Hamilton now 58 points adrift of Charles Leclerc and Mercedes 47 points behind Ferrari, the chances of driver and team securing yet another title together this year look increasingly slim. Off-track Mercedes is still searching for the real flaw in its car design, and on track it has suffered a new low - with team boss Toto Wolff even apologising to Hamilton over the radio at the end of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. #F1 #LewisHamilton #Mercedes READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/the-first-evidence-mercedes-wont-save-its-2022-f1-title-hopes/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

How Charles Leclerc's first major error ignites the F1 2022 title fight

Charles Leclerc’s first major mistake of the 2022 season helped reignite the Formula 1 title battle in a dramatic end to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Leclerc spun and damaged his Ferrari in the closing stages of the race, throwing away an easy podium and dropping him to sixth at the finish after a pitstop to change his front wing. At the same time, Max Verstappen’s flawless drive to earn a second win of the season slashed the gap at the top of the championship by 19 points in one weekend. #F1 #ImolaGP #CharlesLeclerc READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/our-verdict-on-leclerc-and-ferraris-imola-disaster/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
