Valtteri Bottas is awaiting news on his F1 future, and if growing speculation that George Russell is set to land a promotion to Mercedes is to be believed, the Finn could be about to find himself on the sidelines. In this video we look at what Bottas’s options are if he needs to start looking around for a new home in 2022. We also outline what we think would be the best fit for him, and how Mercedes could play a role in helping him stay in F1 even if it decides not to re-sign him Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/WeAreTheRace Instagram: http://instagram.com/WeAreTheRace Facebook: http://facebook.com/WeAreTheRace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. #F1 #Mercedes #BOTTAS https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
The 2021 F1 championship fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton exploded at the British Grand Prix, with the pair coming together on the opening lap, and Verstappen sustaining a 51G impact with the barriers while Hamilton bounced back from a penalty to win the race and slash the Red Bull driver's points lead. Glenn Freeman and Scott Mitchell discuss the incident in detail, and look at the post-race views of both sides. They also look ahead to how this flashpoint could shape this rivalry over the rest of the season. Follow on Twitter: http://goo.gl/TsvaMs Like on Facebook: http://goo.gl/sBqGfi Although Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton was fastest on Silverstone Friday, it was Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen who won the historic F1 sprint race on Saturday and thus starts the British GP from the pole. Red Bull sacrificed more top speed to cure the understeer problem they faced on Friday - and the package worked almost-perfectly, with Max taking the lead of the sprint from the start and holding it to the finish, despite a blistered right-front tyre. Despite enjoying a top-speed advantage, Lewis finished a fighting second ahead of his team-mate, Valtteri Bottas; and Charles Leclerc was an excellent fourth for Ferrari. It was Alpine's Fernando Alonso, though, who was the star of the race, as Peter Windsor describes in this video. (Note: as a result of his first-lap contretemps with Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, George Russell has been served with a three-place grid penalty. This was announced after this video had been processed.) Williams could have a big decision to make on its F1 line-up in the coming weeks, if George Russell gets his long-awaited call-up to Mercedes to partner Lewis Hamilton for 2022. As Williams continues its recovery from being cast adrift at the back of the field to becoming a midfield challenger again, a strong driver line-up will be vital to making sure it doesn't lose momentum. Edd Straw looks at the candidates who could replace Russell as the team's lead driver, and other options who could be considered for the second seat if a shake up is coming. Honda's return to F1 in 2015 was full of a lot of troubles. Their engines would fail more often than not and their partnership with McLaren pretty much became a meme. However, since then, they have rebuilt themselves with Toro Rosso, become race winners again with Red Bull, and are now leading both the Drivers' and Constructors' championships. Here is the story of how they went from being a meme to the best engine suppliers in F1. Lando Norris is briefly on 10 licence penalty points and only two from a Formula 1 race ban. That will change before the next event but it’s a tally he believes he’s reached for “stupid” reasons. That’s earned him the support of Max Verstappen and prompted McLaren to call for a review of F1’s licence penalty point system. Norris will still be on a tightrope until more of his points elapse, as one more slip-up in the eyes of the officials would place him back on the brink. In this video Scott Mitchell reviews how the McLaren driver ended up so close to a ban, why the stewards were so busy at the Austrian GP and what the FIA thinks of all the fuss around the penalty points system. "Everyone is always trying to screw you over in this sport" - those were the words of Valtteri Bottas after he got a penalty for spinning in the pitlane during practice ahead of the Styrian Grand Prix. Bottas could hardly complain about his penalty, but he was right that F1 has a culture of teams and drivers trying to get each other in trouble. In this video we look at the reasons behind that culture developing, and ask if it has reached a point where it is going too far READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/f1s-snitch-culture-is-tedious-but-bottas-cant-complain/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/WeAreTheRace Instagram: http://instagram.com/WeAreTheRace Facebook: http://facebook.com/WeAreTheRace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. #F1 #FIA https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
