The Mercedes engine concerns that could derail Hamilton's F1 title bid
The Mercedes engine concerns that could derail Hamilton's F1 title bid

Mercedes has “question marks” over its Formula 1 engine after Valtteri Bottas required his third new set of power unit components in four events at Sochi, taking him onto his fifth internal combustion engine, MGU-H and turbocharger of the season. Lewis Hamilton hasn't had to take any grid penalties for components outside of his season allowance yet, but it's inevitable that he will have to. And with Mercedes expressing wider concerns over the reliability of its engines even when parts are fresh, and Max Verstappen set to be OK for the rest of the season following the penalties he took for new parts in Russia, Hamilton is likely to face some engine-related pain in the title race. The driver rift making a dreadful F1 season even worse

Haas always knew it was in for a year to forget in the 2021 F1 season, given that it wrote the year off to focus all of its resources on the new rules for next year. So while its results at the back of the field are not a surprise, the rising tension between its two rookie drivers has become an unwelcome distraction. In this video Edd Straw explains how Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin have fallen out due to various incidents through the year, the latest flashpoints that have taken the rivalry up a notch, and how the team is trying to handle it. #F1 #Schumacher #Mazepin READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/mazepin-apologises-to-schumacher-for-italian-gp-clash/ https://the-race.com/formula-1/mazepins-not-in-haas-bad-books-but-should-he-be/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

How Ferrari is introducing a 2021 F1 engine upgrade during a rules freeze

That’s good news for the team and its fans, but how is it possible in the middle of a freeze on engine development? Edd Straw explains how F1’s engine freezes work, why Ferrari’s upgrade is within the rules, and what will be permitted as engine specs are further frozen over the next few years #F1 #Ferrari #F12021 READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/ferrari-set-for-power-boost-with-delayed-f1-engine-upgrade/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

Did Russell’s Mercedes test hint at F1 2022 driver line-up decision?
Did Russell’s Mercedes test hint at F1 2022 driver line-up decision?

George Russell stuck around after the Hungarian Grand Prix to take part in a 2022 F1 tyre test... for Mercedes. So was this just Mercedes taking advantage of using a third driver for the testing process as Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas had previously run the 2022 tyres at Imola, or was there something more to it? As Scott Mitchell explains in this video, it seems unlikely this would be a total coincidence as we wait for Mercedes to confirm if Russell will replace Bottas in its line-up for next year.
