Five goal flurry sends Devils past Rangers in Hudson River Rivalry | Postgame Report
The latest edition of the Hudson River Rivalry took place in Newark on Tuesday, with the New Jersey Devils defeating the New York Rangers by a score of 7-4. The Rangers got out to an early lead and were up 2-0 at the end of the first period. However, the Devils came back with a vengeance in period two and scored 5 unanswered goals to completely change the momentum of this game. Jack Hughes then netted a pair of back-to-back goals in the third, his 100th and 101st career NHL points, to seal the deal for New Jersey. Though the Rangers tried to fight their way back into this game with two goals in response it was ultimately not enough, and they return home to New York with their first loss against the Devils since February 16, 2021. The Devils showed that they have what it takes to be serious contenders in a few years' time, and that they refuse to give up though a playoff appearance is essentially out of the question. They next play on Wednesday night in Toronto against the Maple Leafs, and will return home on Sunday the 27th to play the Montreal Canadiens at 7 PM. Devils start strong, Hamilton finishes things off against the Blues | Postgame Report
The New Jersey Devils bested the formidable Western Conference St. Louis Blues as they clawed their way to a 3-2 overtime victory this afternoon at the Prudential Center. The Devils got out ahead behind Ty Smith's second goal of the season, Dawson Mercer added another and they maintained that two goal lead for the majority of the game. However, quick succession goals in the third period brought the Blues back into the running, and forced this game past regulation, where Dougie Hamilton eventually found the back of the net to win this one for the home team. The Devils looked like a different team tonight than they have otherwise, communicating well with a defense that backed up Nico Daws between the pipes. The Blues, however, were a different story. The visiting team looked disjointed for the first 40 minutes of regulation, and though they did have some very close shots, couldn’t seem to find their rhythm until it was almost too late. These teams challenged each other in more ways than one, but in the end, the Devils were the ones to rise to the occasion and walk away with 2 more points. The Devils next play on Tuesday where they will take on the league-leading Colorado Avalanche. Until then, here's Samantha Bohrer with the postgame report. UConn Women's Hockey Falls to a Physical Northeastern in Shootout on Senior Night
The UConn Women's Hockey team put on a strong performance on senior night against Northeastern, despite losing in the shootout 2-0. Four exciting goals in regulation for the Huskies took Northeastern to the wire, with senior goalie Samantha Carpentier-Yelle having a highlight reel performance in overtime.
