North End had a man sent off towards the end of the 1st half in an inncident which awarded a penalty to Rovers. Adam Armstrong converted yje resuklting penalty kick. PNE had to play the second half with 10 men and Rovers made their advantage count adding two more goals, one from Ben Brereton and the other from Preston North End cast off Tyrhys Dolan. Rovers will head to Ewood Park with 3 points, local bragging rights and Scott Sinclair in their pockets. Rovers looked like they were back to the best today as the welcomed back some key players to the first team. The first goal coming from Ben Brereton who karate kicked the opener in the second half to give Rovers the lead, before a Lyndon Dykes penalty made for a nervy end to the match. However as the visitors pushed to win the game Rovers took advantage and Adam Armstrong pushed us in front and wrapped up the points with his 2nd and Rovers 3rd. Despite the positive play it is Watford who will take away the 3 points making it 3 matches without a win for Rovers. The goals came from Joao Pedro, Tom Cleverly and a big fat own goal from Darragh Lenihan. Meanwhile Rovers one consolation goal was a big bad boy Ben Brereton SCREAMER!!! Rovers in fact scored two within the first 10 minutes with Ben Brereton amd Adam Armstrong finding the back of the net. Reading made a game of it when John Swift scored from a free kick. into the 2nd half Rovers again extended their lead with a deflected effort from Joe Rothwell. Reading to their credit never gave up and scored two goals to level the match Baldock and Meite on the scoresheet before a late Sam Gallagher effort won it for Rovers. Rovers hit the ground running and could have scored 5 or 6 in this match had it not been for Derby's strong defense. The deadlock was broken however via Joe Rothwell who's first goal for the club was a cheeky chip over the Derby keeper. Rovers added a 2nd right at the death via Bradley Dack who tapped in the final ball after a great build up by Rovers. If Rovers can deliver this kind of performance week in week out we could have a great season on our hands. However a bit too late for that. As for Derby they will need to dig deep to get their playoff push back on track. Rovers: Raya, E. Blackburn took the lead through Bradley Dack who made it two goals in two games. Newcastle equalized via a penalty deep into the match Matt Ritchie the goalscorer. To be honest I felt Rovers were in control of the match, and could find themselves a little bit unlucky not to have made it through to the 4th road proper. Rovers and Newcastle will go again in a replay, and both names for now will go into the hat for the 4th round.
