There's a mood of celebration in India after the successful landing of Chandrayaan. Not much is going to dampen it today but as far as the cricket is concerned the weather in Dublin is a bit of a dampener. The toss has been delayed due to rain. India lead the series 2-0 having put in a strong performance in the previous match. Some good runs for Ruturaj Gaikwad Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh followed by another cracking effort from Jasprit Bumrah who's hardly showing any rustiness of being out for so long. Prasidh Krishna was very impressive with his pace and bounce as well boding well for India's pace stocks. Nothing new from the middle as it is still raining and the waiting game continues. We can only hope that it clears up quickly and that we get to see some action. Prasidh Krishna (India): "Yes it's a proud day for us. We have been following the moon landing [on Chandrayaan 3 moon landing] in the team bus and followed it to the ground. We saw it there. Really happy after being selected in the squad for Asia Cup. It's gonna be the same process for me. I think yeah I am getting into groove. I have been running well. I would be looking execute things well. I think is about being consistent what I wanna do. If I am able to execute what I am trying to do it's going to be good for me. It's an important match for me. The covers are firmly on. Super Sopper is moving around! It's still drizzling and the covers are placed. We can only expect the weather to ease off. Uh oh! Unfortunately it currently raining at The Village in Malahide and the covers are firmly in place. a result toss has been delayed for now. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that the weather clears up soon for us to have a prompt start. We are nearing the end of yet another bilateral series as Ireland and India square off for one last time in the 3rd and final T20I at Malahide in Dublin. As most of us would have expected the visitors have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series but Ireland have certainly had their moments and did have a chance in the first match that was cut short due to rain. India though won the second game fairly convincingly the batters put on a stellar show and then the bowlers backed them up as well. Having put bat by the Irish skipper Paul Stirling. the pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad started firing early but they did lose a couple of quick wickets in the Powerplay. Gaikwad played the anchor role and scored a half-century before the likes of Sanju Samson Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh really upped the tempo. It was Singh who impressed most on his first-ever senior outing with the bat at the International level. Ireland a similar story with the bat from the first game as they lost early wickets but Balbirnie looked in sublime touch and went on to score 72. While chasing a score of more than 180 you do need more one batter to step up and unfortunately for the home side no one else got a 30-40 odd with tailenders Adair cutting the deficit with a fine cameo. The Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah looked very close to his best with the ball and led his side pretty well too. He will now have his focus on making a clean sweep but we might see the likes of Jitesh Sharma and a few others a game. Ireland do have enough individual talent to really challenge the Indian side but Paul Stirling needs to take more responsibility with the bat and their ace pacer Little needs to fire as well. The next two games are definitely vital for the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube. While Samson needs runs to ensure he remains in the reckoning for a spot in the ODI World Cup, the likes of Gaikwad, Rinku and Dube will be looking to make an impression to ensure they are considered in future T20 fixtures on the road to the World Cup next year in the Caribbean. For Ireland, it's vital that they don't go 2-0 down already with a game to spare especially against a second-string visiting side. They did exceedingly well to get to 139 after losing half their side for just 31. Barry McCarthy stunned India with a quickfire fifty but it's the top order that needs to come to the party if Ireland are to put up a fight with the bat. The first game of the series is set to take place at the Village in Dublin. India are under a new captain and the squad is pretty much filled with IPL youngsters. On the other hand Ireland also have a fairly new skipper since the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2023. So we are in a thrilling contest given the weather supports cricket rather than creating havoc. It has been very dark and consistent rainfall so far in the whole United Kingdom. A few of the England Domestic One-Day Cup matches have been delayed due to rain. There might be some rain intervals in the Hundred competition as well. Just as Niall John O'Brien tweeted from the venue or should I say around it it looks very much threatening for the game. It was raining earlier in the morning and it looks gloomy for the afternoon. Jasprit Bumrah is coming off a long injury break. He went through a successful back surgery in New Zealand. Then the recovery and rehabilitation at NCA in Bengaluru before getting fully fit for this tour and eventually being named the captain of the Indian set-up for the series. So Bumrah will be the first bowler to lead India in T20Is. The Indian fans wouldn’t want any further hiccups and hopefully no more injury worries for Bumrah. Paul Stirling will have a great opportunity to lead Ireland against a very young Indian side.
