Recorded and Digitalized off a pre recorded VHS tape which was later converted through a DVD burner (cir.2002) and has been restored and making its debut on this Phenia Film Youtube page. Original WWOR-TV 9 Broadcast with Ralph Kiner and Bob Murphy from Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium the last game before the All Star Game break. Frank Viola gets the start for New York before joining the All Star Team in Chicago and Marty Clary for the Braves. Mets score early, on a Darryl Strawberry RBI Double in the top of the 1st and take a 2-0 lead in the 2nd on a fielders choice. Frank Viola gives up only one run, a RBI double from Francisco Cabrera in the 4th while pitching 7.2 innings allowing 7 hits while striking out 3 while walking 3 enough to get his League Leading 13th win of the 1990 season (13-3). John Franco comes in the 7th inning and keeping the Braves scoreless and earning his 17th save of the season. Original WWOR-TV 9 Broadcast with Ralph Kiner and filling in for Tim McCarver (whos a late arrival coming in from Chicago another after broadcasting a CBS game earlier) is Bill Robinson this the 2nd game of a 3 game series from Shea Stadium with the Phillies in town to near sell out crowds. Recorded and Digitalized off the originally recorded VHS tape which was then transferred through a DVD burner (cir.2002) now restored and making its debut on youtube. Dwight Gooden pitches his 1st complete game shutout for 1990 and the 20th of his career as its Doc Gooden of old in this one giving up only 2 hits, and both off the bat of John Kruk (a lead-off 2B in the fifth and single in the 7th.) In the Mets 6th, Darryl Strawberry hits a 2 run bomb off the scoreboard in right center off Phillies starter Pat Combs proved to be all Gooden needed to win his sixth game of 1990 pitching to no runs on only two hits while striking out 7 and walking 2 while Pat Combs gets the loss (3-6) only going five innings 3 runs off 4 hits striking out none while walking 5. Original WTXF Fox 29 Broadcast with Harry Kalas, Richie Ashburn and Chris Wheeler from Shea Stadium, game one of a three game series has Ken Howell for the Phillies and Frank Viola for the Mets as the Phillies score in the first inning to take a early lead with a RBI single from John Kruk scoring Lenny Dykstra. Mets answer back with a run in the btm of the 1st but take the lead in the 2nd scoring 4 runs on 5 hits taking starter Ken Howell out replaced by Dennis Cook. Viola pitches 8 innings allowing one run on eight hits while striking out eight and walking just one. Earning his tenth win of 1990 (10-3) while Howell gets the loss (8-4) pitching 1.2 innings allowing five runs on seven hits, Jeff Innis comes in the 9th closing the door on Philadelphia as the Mets take the first game of the series at Shea. Recorded and digitalized off a pre recorded VHS tape which was converted to a DVD and has been restored and making its debut on the phenia film youtube page. Original CBS Broadcast with Jack Buck and Tim McCarver from Shea Stadium. After the Expos take the first game of the series at Shea 2-1 Mets starter Frank Viola who is 2-0 for the 1990 season pretty much takes control of the Montreal line up and is apposed by Montreal starter oil Can Boyd. Viola allowing only 5 hits through the first eight innings. While Darryl Strawberry hits a two run HR in the fourth off Boyd a ball that makes its way to the subway platform in the parking lot. Another HR from Kevin Elster in the seventh made it smooth sailing for Viola until the ninth when the wheels came off, started by a home run by Andres Galarraga. John Franco comes in to try and stop the bleeding..a little shaky but gets the job done giving Frank Viola's third straight win for 1990 and John Franco picks up his 4th save and Oil can Boyd gets his first loss of the season. May have some missing pitches here and there due to the original editing done while recording, with the new VCR I had at the time. Mike Harkey gets the start for Chicago and Dwight Gooden for New York as Gooden goes 7 innings allowing only one run on four Cub hits. Harkey only goes 4.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits and striking out four while walking four. NBC Game of the week Original Broadcast with Vin Scully and Tom Seaver from Shea Stadium recorded and Digitalized off pre recorded VHS tapes which were converted to DVD through a DVD burner (cir.2002) now restored and adding to the Phenia Film MLB Video archives for the first time. a young Dodger starter John Wetteland (3-4) making his 6th major league start against Bobby Ojeda (9-9) for the Mets as Mets get to Wetteland early scoring a run in the 2nd on a few hits and a sac fly from Kevin Elster,. in the 4th Mets take a 3-0 lead on a few doubles from Strawberry and Magadan. Ojeda giving up only one run in the seventh sparked by a double by veteran Rick Dempsey is replace by Don Aase in the 8th as Ojeda goes seven innings allowing one run on four hits striking out three while walking four. Randy Myers comes in and shuts the door on Los Angeles getting his 21st save of the 1989 season while John Wetteland goes four innings allowing three runs on five hits and 2 strikeouts and two BBs gets the loss his fifth of the season. Preview of the 1988 NLCS between New York and Los Angeles as Doc Gooden starts for the Mets and recently acquired via trade w/St. Louis John Tudor starts for the Dodgers from Dodger Stadium Original WWOR Broadcast with Ralph Kiner, Steve Zabriskie, and Tim McCarver as Doc Gooden pitches his 51st career complete game (his 6th for 1988) as Gooden works with a six run lead coming into the seventh inning as Home Runs from Keith Hernandez and Kevin McReynolds off Tudor and a base clearing double by Tim Tuefel in the 5th inning. And has all signs of being a classic historic game for the city of Chicago and all Cubs fans...until the rains came in calling the game after four innings. Special guest joining the WGN Broadcast team of Harry Caray and Steve Stone for the historic game is Bill Murray and others including Jack Brickhouse.
