Cincinnati REDS at New York METS 5/6/88 (10) Original WWOR Broadcast
Original complete WWOR broadcast with Ralph Kiner, Tim McCarver, Steve Zabriskie and Rusty Staub from Shea Stadium what turns out to be the first extra inning game for the Mets in '88 and the sixth for the Reds. Dennis Rasmussen vs Doc Gooden as both pitchers pitch a great game as Rasmussen goes six innings allowing only two runs and five hits and striking out five. As Gooden goes nine innings keeping the Reds scoring two runs over eleven hits as Randy Myers comes in the 9th reliving Gooden and allows the sixth HR for Chris Sabo the hitting star for the Reds to give the Reds the lead until Darryl Strawberry's (with four RBI's) including the walk off two run HR in the bottom of the tenth and wins New York in dramatic fashion. Recorded and Digitalized off a pre recorded VHS tape (converted to DVD in 2002) and now restored up on my youtube page making its debut. some audio and video break ups in the 1st inning. Last out and NBC Game of the Week postgame interviews of the 1986 Boston Red Sox clinch the AL Eastern Division against Toronto Original NBC Game of the Week partial Broadcast with Vin Scully and Joe Garagiola recorded and digitalized of a pre recorded VHS tape which was converted to DVD (2002) don't think the complete game has been uploaded to Youtube before at least we get to see the last out and post game report. Tom Clancy vs Bruce Hurst as both pitchers throw a complete game and Hurst pitches a six hit shutout and striking out 9 in the game. Dight Evans hits his 26th Homerun of the season in the 5th inning prove to be the game winner as the Red Sox move to post season play. New York METS at Houston ASTROS 7/20/86 (15) Original KTXH Broadcast
Another marathon game out from the archives and a great game between the soon to be NLCS teams in the National League. Original KTXH Vision20 Broadcast with Milo Hamilton and Larry Dierker from the Houston Astrodome, taken off original pre recorded VHS tapes which was later transferred to DVD (2002) and now restored and digitalized and making its debut on youtube. Classic game between the two rivals as the starters Sid Fernandez and Jim Deshaies take the mound as almost all pitchers from both clubs appear in this 15 inning game as Houston is ahead in the western division with San Francisco right behind them as New York keeps taking a comanding in the NL East. Houston takes the lead in this game and the Mets come right back to tie the game throughout. Astros manager Hal Lanier gets ejected..soon comes down to the wire in the 15th and ends on a close play at the plate. Doyle Alexander vs Ron Darling as both pitchers throw a complete game and Ron Darling pitches a four hit shutout and striking out seven as Mets centerfielder Len Dyskstra goes 2 for 3 including a his fourth Homerun of the season in the 6th inning to keep the Mets out in front and ahead since the 1st inning. Out from the archives an Original NBC Game of the Week Broadcast with Vin Sully and Joe Garagiola from Shea Stadium (missing Top of the 9th Inning) Recorded off a pre Recorded VHS tape and was transferred to DVD in 2002 now restored and up making its debut on Youtube. Mets starter Sid Fernandez probably pitches his best game of his MLB career in this one winning his seventh game in a row and hid first complete game shutout allowing only two hits and striking out nine. and at the plate Fernandez goes 3 for 4 with a RBI and 3 runs scored. Doc Gooden vs Nolan Ryan from Shea Stadium as both teams allow only five hits aside as Len Dykstra goes 2 for 3 with a couple of doubles off Nolan Ryan and a RBI.. and Keith Hernandez RBI in the 1st inning knocking in Dykstra. Gooden giving up a solo shot Homerun from Kevin Bass the only run earned for the Astros. a new recent discovery in the VHS archives off a on a low grade VHS Tapes recorded in LP mode of the complete WOR broadcast from Wrigley Field as 1985 Cy Young award winner Dwight Gooden pitches his 7th complete game vs Chicago's 1984 Cy Young award winner Rick Sutcliffe. the newly restored tape and this game is making its Youtube Debut up on my page for the first time out from the archives Original WOR Broadcast with Ralph Kiner, Tim McCarver and Steve Zabriskie. Original VHS tape was not viewed in years and a new Digitalized restored (best I could) with the low and some damage cassette tape(s)..just a archive for the 1986 season and its not the greatest game quality wise in my archives but its now at least out there for all Mets '86 & MLB fans. Wally Backman goes 3 for 4 and some key Homer's by George Foster and Darryl Strawberry. One of the longest 9 inning games for the Mets for 1986 season.
