The Tri-City Storm’s comeback efforts fell short in Saturday’s 4-3 home loss to the Sioux City Musketeers. The Storm scored the final three goals of the game after falling behind 4-0 in the 1st period. Jeremy Wilmer, Drew Montgomery, and Ilya Nikolaev scored Tri-City's goals in the game. The Storm dropped back-to-back home games this weekend, and now must win Game #3 on Tuesday, May 10th, to continue play in the Western Conference Finals. Sebastian Wraneschitz recorded the loss in goal for the Storm after making 7 saves on 11 shots in the opening twenty minutes of play. Arsenii Sergeev finished the game in net for Tri-City, and stopped all 10 of Sioux City’s shots. Alex Tracy captured the win in goal for the Musketeers after turning away 21 of the Storm’s 24 shots on net. Saturday’s game was played in front of a crowd of 2,542 at the Viaero Center. The Tri-City Storm dropped the opening game of the 2022 Western Conference Finals series against the Sioux City Musketeers by a final score of 5-4 Friday night at the Viaero Center. The Storm surrendered the game-winning goal in the final five seconds of the 3rd period to fall behind 1-0 in the best-of-five series. Cole O’Hara, Gavin Brindley, Graham Gamache, and Mitchell Miller scored the Storm’s goals in the loss. The Storm will host Game #2 of the 2022 Western Conference Finals at the Viaero Center on Saturday, May 7th. Arsenii Sergeev recorded the loss in net for the Storm after making 20 saves on 25 shots. The Tri-City Storm celebrated an Anderson Cup Championship Friday night at the Viaero Center following a 5-2 win over the Lincoln Stars. The 2021-2022 Storm team set a new organizational record for the most wins (46), and most points (96) ever recorded in a regular season. Andrew Strathmann, John Druskinis, Jeremy Wilmer, Dane Dowiak, and Mitchell Miller all scored goals in the win for Tri-City. Arsenii Sergeev notched his league-leading 30th win of the year in goal for the Storm. The regular season championship was the third in organizational history. Lleyton Roed and Ilya Nikolaev scored the Storm’s goals in the loss. Arsenii Sergeev dropped to 25-6-1-0 on the season after making 20 saves on 24 shots in goal for the Storm. Lucas Szyszka recorded the win in goal for Des Moines after stopping 25 of Tri-City’s 27 shots on net during the game. Tri-City fell to 37-10-2-0 on the season in the loss. A record-breaking night for the Tri-City Storm organization ended in a 4-2 road victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks at Young Arena on Saturday. Two major individual records were broken during the game as the Storm won its fifth game of the year against the Black Hawks. Storm defenseman Mitchell Miller broke former Storm defenseman Ronnie Attard’s USHL record for most points recorded by a defenseman in a single season during Friday’s 1st period. Miller notched his 66th point of the year on a powerplay goal during the game. Storm forward Jeremy Wilmer broke the Storm organization’s team record for most assists in a single season on the same play. Wilmer passed former Storm forward Jaden Schwartz with his 51st assist on the season on Miller’s goal. Wilmer recorded two additional assists during the game and has notched a league-leading 53 assists this season. Sebastian Wraneschitz notched his eighth victory of the season in goal after making 18 saves on 20 shots in the opening two periods of the game.
