Islanders return home with resounding victory over the Bruins | Postgame Report
The Islanders' return home to UBS Arena proved to be a welcomed one as they delivered a 4-1 win over the Bruins in arguably their best performance since playing that same opponent two short months ago. Four different players entered the scoring marks with Mat Barzal's goal being the one to push things out of reach. Ilya Sorokin shined in net too amid a stretch in which he'll be asked to do more with Varlamov sitting on the COVID-19 list. The Islanders will need plenty more games like this if they aim to stay relevant in the playoff push with another chance to make up some ground Sunday against the Canadiens. K'Andre Miller's game winner saves the day as Rangers survive Kraken | Postgame Report
After losing a heartbreaker against the Wild on Friday Night, the Rangers looked to deliver a Sunday win for the Garden faithful as they battled the Seattle Kraken. Seattle played a cleaner brand of hockey and controlled the forecheck and shot count from the moment the puck dropped. However, the Rangers took an early lead thanks to a goal from Mika Zibanejad (with assists coming from Trouba and Panarin) Later on, Alexis Lafrèniere made it 2-0 with an easy tap-in. Eventually, the Kraken's dominance paid off as Jared McCann trimmed the lead to 1 and Yanni Gourde tied it at 2 at the 18:52 mark. Just as all signs pointed to overtime, defenseman K'Andre Miller saved the Broadway Blueshirts, scoring the game-winner with just 33.7 second remaining in regulation. Today's final was the New York Rangers 3, Seattle Kraken 2. Parise scores game-winner as Islanders' resilient effort outlasts Flyers | Postgame Report
Things did not look good early for the Islanders against the Flyers after Ilya Sorokin uncharacteristically allowed two easy goals in the first period. However, instead of letting things get out of hand, the Islanders scored two to equalize things in the first and won the back-and-forth battle from there, 4-3, with Zach Parise putting home the crucial game-winner. It's another big win for the Islanders, now 4–1 in the division in 2022 as the Flyers suffer a 13th straight loss, perhaps giving the team just the momentum boost they need ahead of an easy schedule leading into the All-Star Break. Sudden goals cost Devils against the Stars ahead of difficult road stretch | Postgame Report
The New Jersey Devils fell 5–1 to the Dallas Stars tonight in a game where they came looking for redemption but could not find it. The Stars scored less than 15 seconds into the first period of the game on their first shot on goal and eventually ended the first period 3-0. The Devils could not recover from there. 15 seconds into the second period, the Stars scored again to make it 4-0, making the game even more of an uphill battle than it already was. The Devils had a few good pushes towards goal as the boos mounted but could not evade Braden Holtby in net. The lone Devils goal came from Jesper Bratt with an assist from Hughes and Severson. Bratt now has a 3 game point streak and Hughes has a 4 game point streak. Bratt and Severson both spoke in the post-game press conference about how they were simply outplayed, but now is the time to get back in the saddle and do what they do best in order to win as they begin a road trip against three of the top teams in the league, starting with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, January 27th at 7pm. Devils keep up with the Kings, let an early lead, two Jesper Bratt goals go late | Postgame Report
The New Jersey Devils were unfortunately not able to grab their second win in this weekend's back-to-back series tonight as they fell 3-2 to the Los Angeles Kings. The Devils defense threw themselves into this game, using their whole bodies to make defensive plays and playing more aggressively than they have in recent outings. Sadly, it just was not enough this time, as the Kings overcame them in the third period and gained their second win against the Devils this season. Jesper Bratt scored two goals for the Devils early in the first, both of which had an assist from Severson, earning Bratt and Severson 2nd and 3rd star of the game, respectively. They will be back at the Prudential Center on Tuesday the 25th looking for their next 2 points in the race to the Stanley Cup Playoff wildcard spot against the Dallas Stars.
