The New York Knicks started off strong but saw a fourth quarter comeback fall flat against the Utah Jazz, who earned their third victory in a row, final score 108-93. There were some bright spots, namely a hot first quarter from Evan Fournier and energy off the bench throughout, but clear moments when the Knicks' dysfunctional offense showed its flaws. On the other end, Donovan Mitchell led the way with 36 points, delivering for a hometown crowd at the Garden. Michael Calamari has Mitchell's comments on playing in NYC and more in the postgame report. Villanova once again wins the Big East Championship with a 54-48 victory over Creighton on Saturday. Both teams struggled to find the bottom of the net in the first half with Creighton failing to knock in even a single three. However, things picked up some momentum in the second half. With a tight affair down to the end, Villanova's senior leadership showed through with some stout defense and big shots late from Justin Moore and Collin Gillespie to top the Bluejays. It's another successful season for the juggernauts of the Big East, and coach Jay Wright spoke about the significance of winning at MSG. On the other hand, Creighton did more than enough to prove themselves as a talented tournament team, potentially even destined for the Elite Eight. Here's Ryan Gregware, Thomas Aiello and Tyler Hu signing off for the last time from the Big East Tournament with a recap of the final game. The New Jersey Devils bested the formidable Western Conference St. Louis Blues as they clawed their way to a 3-2 overtime victory this afternoon at the Prudential Center. The Devils got out ahead behind Ty Smith's second goal of the season, Dawson Mercer added another and they maintained that two goal lead for the majority of the game. However, quick succession goals in the third period brought the Blues back into the running, and forced this game past regulation, where Dougie Hamilton eventually found the back of the net to win this one for the home team. The Devils looked like a different team tonight than they have otherwise, communicating well with a defense that backed up Nico Daws between the pipes. The Blues, however, were a different story. The visiting team looked disjointed for the first 40 minutes of regulation, and though they did have some very close shots, couldn’t seem to find their rhythm until it was almost too late. These teams challenged each other in more ways than one, but in the end, the Devils were the ones to rise to the occasion and walk away with 2 more points. The Devils next play on Tuesday where they will take on the league-leading Colorado Avalanche. Until then, here's Samantha Bohrer with the postgame report.
