The Colorado Avalanche have some time to kill as they wait for their next opponent in the St. Louis Blues or Minnesota Wild. Chris and Kyle discuss who they feel the Avs match up better with, but does that metric line up with who they would actually like to see the Avs play? We also take a look around the Western Conference and the other series that are still taking place. The Avalanche didn't seem to get the memo that their series should be tied at 2-2 since most of the other series were. Finally, who throws Skittles? And who throws Skittles at Cale Makar no less? We talk about which candy we hate the most that we would have no problem chucking at someone. Never at someone on the ice or field though. Well this one did not go the way we thought it would. The Colorado Avalanche, coming off a loss to the Washington Capitals, not wanting to lose two in a row especially to a team at the bottom of the standings at this stage in the season, did just that. It was a dreadful first period for the Avalanche and the Kraken pounced, scoring three goals in the first. The Avalanche turned things around with their play, but they couldn't get enough past former Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer to gain any points. With the loss the Avalanche again failed to match the team franchise record in points and will have to try again when they visit Edmonton on Friday Chris and Kyle break it all down including their Sound Check songs Tune in and subscribe https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIg-1EJ77LGYsh9i8IaIO7w WANT MORE DAILY COLORADO AVALANCHE CONTENT? The Colorado Avalanche and Tampa Bay Lightning met up for their first game since the All-Star break in Denver, and while some thought it might take a little for both teams to get back into game mode (some people meaning Chris and Kyle) nothing was further from the truth. The Avs came out fired up and got two goals on Vasilevskiy. But he then proved why he is an all world goalie and made life difficult for the Avs for the remainder of the game. The problem for Tampa was Avalanche goalie Darcy Kuemper made life equally as difficult for them, and in the end Kuemper was one goal better than Vasilevskiy. Chris and Kyle break it all down as well as discuss a Joe Sakic pre game press conference where he discussed several things, including a Nathan MacKinnon contract extension. Well it's been 24 hours and we have yet to hear from the NHL on the play that gifted the Nashville Predators an OT win against the Colorado Avalanche. Probably give it another day, and if still nothing, we can probably expect nothing. We eerily received a listener question prior to the Avs / Preds game if refs should wear cameras, so we can see what they see. Would this have made a difference on this play in particular? Probably not, but since refs are not made available to the media, we would at least get a video angle from their perspective. Chris and Kyle also talk about the very interesting Athletic article that discusses the race to build the biggest and the best practice facilities around the league in an effort to impress free agents. Teams like the Seattle Kraken and the LA Kings have spared no expense to build facilities that not only house the franchise, but are available to the community for various events. Are the Colorado Avalanche trailing in the aspect and would this be enough for potential free agents to jump ship. And is this a reason Philipp Grubauer did this very thing? Finally, we got new on Bo Byram, and it's what we expected. He did not play due to continued lingering concussion symptoms, and you can't help but this he will be out for an extended time this time. Which is probably the best thing for him. We are all behind you Bo. Subscribe and enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIg-1EJ77LGYsh9i8IaIO7w WANT MORE DAILY COLORADO AVALANCHE CONTENT? It's always nice to get two points against a division rival, and it's even better doing it in dominating fashion. That's just what the Colorado Avalanche did in rolling over the Winnipeg Jets, 7-1. The top line for the Avs saw 12 total points and Colorado used one of their best periods of the season in the 2nd to separate from Winnipeg, then used the 3rd to turn on the afterburners. All while getting all seven goals past one of the best goalies in the NHL. The Avs have to feel as confident as they have all season, and they should. But can they carry that confidence into the weekend when they try to avenge their worst lost of the season when the Toronto Maple Leafs come to town. Here we are again. The Colorado Avalanche finished their game Thursday night against the Nashville Predators, and then found out the next day their season would be put on hold until at least December 27th, meaning the Avs will have to make up the four games they would have played during that time. The NHL implemented new standards in an attempt to deal with limiting the number of positive cases, but is that a battle that cannot be won? Is the league trying to just plug holes whenever one pops up, or should they be more proactive in just shutting the league down now before it gets worse? Kyle and Chris talk about where things stand with the Avs and the league and even dive into some conspiracy theories, because why not. Many people had the Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers as a potential Stanley Cup Final, and if last night was any indication, we would all be in for a treat if it were to happen. The Avs came out on top, 3-2, of a back and forth affair that had everything you want in a hockey game and one thing you don't. On one hand you had one team pull ahead only for the other to storm back and tie it. You had an ending that had you on the edge of your seat and goaltending to match. But you also had one player in Jacob MacDonald get taken off the ice on a stretcher. Can anything be done by the league to prevent this from happening even if the hit could be deemed as "clean"? In the end, you felt like you had been through a summer blockbuster movie and you had to catch your breath. Of course, it felt better that the good guys won in the end. The Colorado Avalanche had a memorable first game against the Seattle Kraken. Many expected to see former Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer face his former team. But it was announced prior to the game he would not get the start. However, four early goals lead to a goalie change and Grubauer had no choice but to face his former team. This game was all Avalanche. They were clearly the better team, and it showed. Prior to the game the Avs announced a two year extension for head coach Jared Bednar. So the team clearly has faith in him bringing the Avs to the promised land of winning a Stanley Cup. Subscribe and Enjoy! WANT MORE DAILY COLORADO AVALANCHE CONTENT?
