Sri Lanka probable final 22-member Sri Lanka squad for the forthcoming South Africa white-ball series. Last week, it was reported that the national cricket selectors had announced an initial 30-player squad for the Protea series, scheduled to start on 2 September Only Tharanga and the 21-year-old off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana have been retained from the uncapped players in the initial 30-member squad. The other four uncapped players in the initial squad β Dilshan Madushanka, Ishan Jayaratne, Shiran Fernando, and Sahan Arachchige β have not been picked for the 22-player final squad for South Africa. Also going out from the 30-player squad are Ashen Bandara, Lakshan Sandakan, Asitha Fernando, and Dhananjaya Lakshan, all current national players. Former Sri Lanka Captains Dinesh Chandimal and Suranga Lakmal last played for Sri Lanka during the March and April West Indies tour. Then they were dropped for the following Bangladesh, England, and India white-ball series when the selectors opted to apply a βyouth policyβ aiming the 2023 50-over World Cup. The same time, former ODI Captain Dimuth Karunaratne too was omitted from the national white-ball side along with the other seniors. The Invitational T20 Cricket Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket is currently being held at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy with a large number of new players.Eight matches have already been played in this tournament which is being held with the participation of four teams namely Reds, Greens, Blues and Greys.There will be four more matches in the preliminary round before the final.The SLC Greys, led by Dasun Shanaka, who have won all four of their matches so far, are currently leading the bonus points table. SLC Blues beat Sri Lanka Cricket by 5 wickets in the fourth match of the T20I Cricket Tournament organized by Sahan Arachchi and Ashen Bandara.SLC Greens lost to them at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy.Batting first, SLC Greens scored 180 runs for the loss of just two wickets to give the Blues a 181-run victory.The Blues chased down the target with 19 wickets in 19.3 overs.Ashen Bandara scored a quickfire 36 off 18 balls with two sixes and two fours.
