The Invitational T20 Cricket Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket is currently being held at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy with a large number of new players.Eight matches have already been played in this tournament which is being held with the participation of four teams namely Reds, Greens, Blues and Greys.There will be four more matches in the preliminary round before the final.The SLC Greys, led by Dasun Shanaka, who have won all four of their matches so far, are currently leading the bonus points table. Throughout the tournament, newcomers as well as experienced players were seen excelling with the bat and the ball.This tournament will undoubtedly help in selecting players for the Sri Lanka squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup as well as the remaining gaps in the upcoming South African Series. The second day of the second and final Test cricket match between the touring Australian team and the Sri Lankan team ended today with Sri Lanka winning most of the honors of the day. At the end of the day, Sri Lanka, who were playing their first innings, scored 184 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Australia won the final of the five-match ODI series against Sri Lanka by 4 wickets today However, Sri Lanka won the ODI series 3-2. Colombo Rs. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first at the Premadasa Stadium today. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 160 in 43.1 overs. Pathum Nissanka was bowled out for 2, restricting the opening wicket partnership to 9 runs. Niroshan Dickwella was replaced by Danushka Goonetileke who scored only 8 runs. Dinesh Chandimal, who replaced Dhananjaya de Silva in today's match, was dismissed for 6 runs. Later, Charith Asalanka was dismissed for 14 in the fourth over when he was run out and Sri Lanka's innings collapsed. Kusal Mendis hit the next ball of the innings after being run out in that run. At that time Kusal had scored 26 points. Dunith Vellalage scored 4 runs and Dasun Shanaka scored 1 run. Jeffrey Wandersay also had a 4-run knock when he was hit by a run chase. However, Alex Kerry's unbeaten 45 and Cameron Greene's 25 helped Australia to victory.Dunith Wellalage took 3 wickets for 42 runs while Mahesh Theekshana took 2 wickets for 26 runs. However, for the 7th wicket, Dasun and Chamika Karunaratne shared an unbroken 69 off 25 balls. Dasun scored 54 runs with 4 sixes and 5 fours. Chamika was unbeaten on 14 (10). Sri Lanka has named uncapped off-spinner Ashian Daniel and leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay in a 19-man squad for their two-match Test tour of India early next month. The series, which includes a day-night Test, will begin on March 4 in Mohali before the teams head to Bengaluru for the second Test, a day-night game starting on March 12. The match in Mohali will be Sri Lanka’s 300th Test match. Wicketkeeper batter Niroshan Dickwella is also back in contention for a place for the first time since May last year while senior batter Lahiru Thirimanne returns to the side, having taken paternity leave during Sri Lanka’s last Test series against West Indies.
