Are we sure Steve Sarkisian can change Texas Football? Overreaction Monday on Sark's about face Geoff Ketchum, publisher of Orangebloods.com and Anwar Richardson, Texas Longhorns beat reporter for Orangebloods.com discuss the Steve Sarkisian Press Conference following the Texas Longhorns 4th straight loss, their first four game losing streak since 2010. Texas fell to Iowa State Cyclones 30-7 on Saturday in Week 10 of the college football season. They led 7-3 at halftime, but were outscored 27-0 in the second half. Hudson Card replaced Casey Thompson and was not much more effective. Ketch and Anwar break down their thoughts from the Sark Monday press conference and his sudden change of demeanor, plus the news on Joshua Moore entering the transfer portal and the upcoming matchup with the Kansas Jayhawks. The Longhorns are 30 point favorites vs. Kansas on Saturday in Week 11. Anwar pointed out that Steve Sarkisian is trying to switch from being the nice and funny and warm guy to more of a general and assert his authority and he's getting some major pushback on that. Last week Sark decided to address tardiness from Texas football players and it did not go very well, which led to Steve Sarkisian getting into it with Joshua Moore. Texas WR Joshua Moore is now in the transfer portal. Anwar pointed out last week Sark said: "Even though I'm a players coach, it doesn't mean I can't coach hard." Steve Sarkisian has waited too long to put his foot down. You can't be an easy going coach and then suddenly decide you are going to get hard on the team. Ketch believes Sark is changing his demeanor because he's trying to change results. But, it's too late. It's too late for the 2021 Texas Longhorns football team, it's not going to change with this team, this season. Sark was brought into Texas to make a good program, great. He wasn't signed up to tear down the program to build it back up. He was signed up to take a good program and make it great. Anwar Richardson: "They were not great, but they were good. They were 4 straight winning seasons. They were 4 straight bowl wins." There's really nothing else we can do, we just want to win out and get to a decent bowl game." Xavier also says on the 3-game losing streak: "I'm going to play the same regardless. They're not going to look at your record, they're going at you. It doesn't matter what your record is." Worthy also says: "You can't make the whole team play hard." In terms of the Baylor game, Xavier Worthy said the team actually played better in the 4th quarter. Texas lost 31-24 to the Baylor Bears in Week 9 of the college football season. Texas Football Overreaction Monday: Casey Thompson or Hudson Card? Blame game season for UT football Geoff Ketchum, publisher of Orangebloods.com and Anwar Richardson, Texas Longhorns beat reporter for Orangebloods.com discuss the latest loss for Texas 31-24 to Baylor. For the third consecutive game, Texas blew a fourth quarter lead, this time up 21-17 heading into the 4th quarter. Texas has now been outscored 55-10 by Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Baylor in the 4th quarter of the last three games. Anwar discussed Sark doubling down on the QB situation, as Casey Thompson will continue to keep his job as the starting QB. Steve Sarkisian will not go back to Hudson Card, who started the first two games of the season for the Texas Longhorns. Geoff Ketchum brought up Sark's comments during his Monday press conference on the 4th and 11 fake punt from midfield, in which Cameron Dicker, the Texas Longhorns punter, ran an RPO, and failed giving the ball back to the Baylor Bears at midfield. The Texas Longhorns are now 4-4 and 2-3 in Big 12 play. They will visit the Iowa State Cyclones in Aimes, Iowa in Week 10 of the College Football season. OU Football falters in win, while Iowa State, Baylor & Oklahoma State in position for Big 12 title. Ari Temkin of Orangebloods.com and SiriusXM's Big 12 Radio (Ch. 375) breaks down Week 8 of the Big 12 schedule, including the true contenders and pretenders. We start with the hilarity of Oklahoma Sooners nearly losing to one of the worst teams in FBS Football and the clear worst team in the Big 12, Kansas Jayhawks. OU was down 10-0 at half and survived late 35-23 against Kansas. One thing is clear in Oklahoma's near lose to Kansas, OU is not the best team in the Big 12. Oklahoma's defense has been very bad this year and that was supposed to be the major difference in 2021 with the OU Sooners. Oklahoma is currently 114th in opponents yards per pass attempt with 8.9. Oklahoma's defense is giving up nearly 9 yards per their opponent's pass attempt. In their last three games, Oklahoma is giving up 11.3 yards to their opponents per pass attempt. Their last three opponents are Texas football, TCU and Kansas, with TCU Horned Frogs and Kansas Jayhawks being two of the worst teams in the Big 12. Oklahoma is also 104th in opponents yards per play at 6.1 and in their last three games OU's defense is giving up 34 ppg. If Oklahoma is not going to win the Big 12, then who are the other contenders? Texas can still win the Big 12, though it seems unlikely...they would need to win out and then hope for help, but most likely they will not win a conference championship in 2021. Texas plays one of them on Saturday, the Baylor Bears, who are 6-1 and 3-1 in Big 12 play. They are one of the country's top rushing offenses and top defenses. Like Texas they can run the football, but Baylor, unlike Texas can stop the run pretty effectively. The Iowa State Cyclones, Baylor Bears and Oklahoma State Cowboys are all 1.5 games behind Oklahoma in the Big 12 race.
