EJ Liddell leads Ohio State over Niagara 84-74, scores career-high 29 points (November 12, 2021)

The Ohio State basketball team moved past Niagara 84-74 at Value City Arena on Friday night to get to 2-0 on the season. EJ Liddell caught fire early on, scoring 15 points in the first eight minutes, and scoring a career-high 29 points to help hold off the Purple Eagles. Zed Key and Justice Sueing also played a major role in the victory, while Kyle Young returned after missing the season opener on Tuesday. For a second consecutive game Liddell led the Buckeyes in scoring, this time a career-high 29 points on just 15 shots, to go along with five rebounds, four blocks, and three assists. The 6’7 forward was clearly the best player on the court and is looking like a potential Big Ten Player of the Year candidate. He needs to limit turnovers going forward but besides that, Liddell looks even more electric and versatile than last season. Michigan fights off Buffalo 88-76 in season opener led by Hunter Dickinson (November 10, 2021)

Michigan fought off Buffalo 88-76 in the season opener on Wednesday night at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. Hunter Dickinson led the Wolverines with 27 points and six rebounds, while Jeenathan Williams went off for a game-high 32 points and eight rebounds in the loss. Juwan Howard’s team looked like a national championship contender for part of the win against Buffalo but there is still a lot of room for improvement on both ends of the floor. After leading 51-36 at halftime, the Wolverines scored just 37 points in the second half and allowed Buffalo to cut the deficit to 72-67 with six minutes remaining. Michigan consistently went to different variations of a high screen-and-roll with Eli Brooks and Dickinson late in the game.
