Leeds vs Arsenal [ 1- 4 ] Three Things we learned | Post match Breakdown | Premier League
Leeds vs Arsenal [ 1- 4 ] Three Things we learned | Post match Breakdown | Premier League

Three Things we learned | Post match Breakdown | Premier League ______________________ Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli’s double helped Arsenal ease to a dominant 4-1 win at Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday. In the only Premier League game to go ahead on Saturday due to a huge rise in COVID-19 cases among players, Arsenal blew beleaguered Leeds away with a blistering first-half display. Having shipped seven goals at Manchester City in midweek, Leeds were repeatedly carved apart in the opening period, with Martinelli’s brace putting Arsenal 2-0 up inside 28 minutes. Frustrations were palpable all round Elland Road as Bukayo Saka added a third for Arsenal three minutes before the break, with the scoreline not at all flattering for the dominant London side. Leeds did threaten a late comeback when Rafinha converted a penalty 15 minutes from time, but substitute Emile Smith Rowe’s late goal put the game beyond the hosts. Arsenal’s third league success in a row consolidated fourth spot in the standings, while Leeds‘ second successive hammering left them down in 16th, five clear of the drop zone, but having played three more games than Burnley in 18th. “I am very happy with the performance, the week that we had, and the way we are moving forward,” Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said. “It is always difficult to play against Leeds. They didn’t give up on the second half. I am pleased, it is not easy to play the way we did in this atmosphere. We made a real statement.” The visitors were well on top from the start against an injury-ravaged Leeds. Home goalkeeper Illan Meslier was forced into a fine save as the hosts’ defence still looked shell-shocked after their mauling at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. Saka should have scored from the rebound, but Arsenal did not have to wait long for the opener as Martinelli, leading the line in place of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who was again left out for a disciplinary breach, arrowed a shot into the top corner. The Gunners continued to dominate, with Scotland full back Kieran Tierney forcing another fine save out of Meslier, before the hosts mustered their first attack as Rafinha fired wide. Martinelli, whose Arsenal career has been plagued by injury, made it two after brilliantly latching onto Granit Xhaka’s through pass and lofting the ball over Meslier. Saka’s goal had an element of fortune about it as a deflection took it past Meslier whose performance ensured it was only three at the break. Arsenal’s 11 shots on target in the first half is the most in the opening 45 minutes by any side in a single Premier League match since 2003-04, when Opta started collecting such stats. Leeds improved in the second half and deservedly got a lifeline when Ben White fouled Joe Gelhardt in the penalty area and Rafinha hammered in the spot-kick. Without injured striker Patrick Bamford, however, Leeds lacked the firepower to complete the turnaround and Smith Rowe’s calm finish ended their faint hopes. It was the first time Leeds have lost three successive league games under manager Marcelo Bielsa. “There were more chances generated than the goals that they scored,” Bielsa said. “When we lost the ball in our own half, this increased the amount of chances they (Arsenal) could create. “Always the support like the team received today is inspiring to us. It is not easy when a team has conceded 14 goals in three games. If the fans were not so supportive of me, I could understand it.” Source: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-arsenal-live-stream-premier-league-2021-b1978617.html Video Credit: ARSENAL FC #Arsenal #LeedsUnited #ThreeThingsWeLearned #PostMatch #PremierLeague ______________________ About T-Sports 20: This Channel has the purpose to present best young players, transfer targets and many more players all around the world! HIGHLIGHTS | Leeds vs Arsenal (1-4) | Premier League | Martinelli, Saka, Smith Rowe
HIGHLIGHTS | Leeds vs Arsenal (1-4) | Premier League | Martinelli, Saka, Smith Rowe

A thoroughly dominant first-half performance laid the platform for an excellent away win at Leeds. Gabriel Martinelli netted twice and Bukayo Saka was also on target in a mesmerising opening 45 minutes, in which we mustered 11 shots on target - the most in a single half of Premier League football since 2003/04. Leeds rallied briefly in the second half, scoring from the penalty spot, but Emile Smith Rowe came off the bench to net his seventh Premier League goal of the season late on to seal the three points. There were signs of what was to come from the very first whistle. We had three very good chances within moments of kick off. Martin Odegaard found Alexandre Lacazette with a fantastic throughball, but the Leeds keeper Illan Meslier was down well to deny him when one on one. The rebound was prodded wide by Saka and with our next attack Thomas Partey saw his shot turned away at the near post. It was a bright start full of intent and ambition, with Kieran Tierney next to test the keeper with a right-footed strike. That was all in the first five minutes, and the game settled down until Martinelli lashed us into the lead. The Leeds defence hesitated, appealing for a foul by Lacazette, but referee Andre Marriner waved play on, and crucially Martinelli remained alert, to smash the ball home. VAR also saw nothing untoward with the strike. The goal brought up a milestone for the Gunners - it was our 7,000th scored in the top-flight of English football, becoming the third side to the landmark, after Everton and Liverpool. Our first came some 117 years ago. Leeds, severely depleted with injury and missing nine players, were still full of running, and nearly brought themselves level when Raphinha wriggled past Tierney and shot just wide with Aaron Ramsdale wrong-footed. We continued to make chances though, and soon doubled our lead. This time Granit Xhaka released Martinelli through the middle, and the 20-year-old forward kept his composure, bore down on goal, and lifted a wonderful finish over Meslier. It was no more than we deserved after an excellent start. We were swarming around the Leeds defence, and Lacazette was next to go close, forcing another save from Meslier after great build up play involving Saka and Odegaard. Saka increased the lead just before half-time, his shot was deflected in past the keeper, after just about beating the offside trap. The only surprise is that we weren't leading by more at the interval. Leeds were in no mood to lay down though, and cheered on by the Elland Road faithful, came out fired up for the second half. A clumsy challenge from Ben White inside the area gave them a route back into the game when Raphinha fired home the resulting penalty. More than a quarter of an hour remaining and all of a sudden it was game on again. The hosts' tails were up, but a thumping finish from substitute Smith Rowe restored our three-goal advantage. Odegaard pounced on a loose ball and weighted his pass into the advancing Smith Rowe, and the England man made no mistake with his first-time finish. It sealed an excellent away win - our first since beating Leicester in October - and consolidated our place in the top four going in to Christmas. #arsenal #martinelli #saka Enjoy match highlights, training and behind the scenes to get closer to the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Vivianne Miedema, Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, Leah Williamson, Bernd Leno, Emile Smith Rowe, Nikita Parris, Tobin Heath, Mana Iwabuchi, Jordan Nobbs, Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kim Little, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale, Beth Mead, Ben White, Thomas Partey and more. Marcelo Bielsa's side fell to the club's joint-heaviest ever league defeat on Tuesday night, while Arsenal climbed into the top four 24 hours later with victory over West Ham United. Match preview Bielsa's men are in the midst of just about the most difficult run of fixtures it is possible to get in the Premier League right now, with Saturday's game the third in a run of four matches in a row against each of the current top four. The first of those saw them push Chelsea all the way before losing to a contentious last-gasp penalty, but the same XI was then trounced by a rampant Man City in midweek as Bielsa saw one of his sides concede seven goals in a game for the very first time in his long and distinguished managerial career. That result means that only the bottom two have now conceded more goals or possess a worse goal difference than Leeds this season, having shipped 12 in their current three-game winless run. Arsenal will justifiably head into Saturday's match as favourites, then, particularly after Wednesday's 2-0 London derby win over West Ham United lifted them into the top four of the Premier League table for the first time since October last year. Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe secured back-to-back wins for the Gunners, who have now scored five without reply in their last two outings following successive defeats to Manchester United and Everton before that. That improved form on the pitch has coincided with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's absence due to disciplinary reasons, with Alexandre Lacazette donning the armband against West Ham after his strike partner was stripped of the captaincy. While that saga rumbles on behind the scenes, manager Mikel Arteta's main concern on the field ahead of Saturday is likely to be improving his side's away form. The Gunners have lost five of their eight Premier League away games so far this season, including each of the last three, conceding nine goals in the process. Indeed, only four teams have shipped more goals on the road this term than Arsenal, all of whom are in the bottom six. If the visitors can correct those away woes and couple them with the league's joint-best home record this season then it may be hard for the chasing pack to catch them in the top-four race, and Arteta will be viewing Saturday's match against a wounded Leeds as a great chance to do just that. Leeds United Premier League form: LDWDLL Arsenal Premier League form: LWLLWW Team News A hat-trick scorer the last time these two sides met in the league, Aubameyang's banishment is expected to continue for at least another game amid growing speculation that he could leave the club following his latest fallout with Arteta. The Gunners have fared well without him so far, though, and Arteta could resist the urge to make too many changes to his side with Tuesday's League Cup tie with Sunderland representing a better opportunity to rest players. Smith Rowe could still come back into the side, possibly in place of Martinelli, who picked up a knock after opening the scoring against West Ham. The likes of Albert Sambi Lokonga, Eddie Nketiah, Nicolas Pepe and Nuno Tavares are the other players pushing for a recall, but they may be forced to wait until next week to return to the starting XI. Bernd Leno and Sead Kolasinac remain sidelined for the visitors. Leeds' own injury woes have only worsened since midweek, with Daniel James and Jamie Shackleton joining the list of absentees due to muscular and heel problems respectively. Junior Firpo's yellow card in the 7-0 defeat means that he is suspended for this match too, leaving Bielsa without at least eight first-team players. Star men Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips are included in that, as well as other regular first-teamers such as Liam Cooper, Rodrigo Moreno and Pascal Struijk. There was better news on Robin Koch, though, with Bielsa confirming that the defender will be available for Saturday's match following an illness. Leeds United possible starting lineup: Meslier; Ayling, Koch, Llorente, Dallas; Klich, Forshaw; Raphinha, Roberts, Harrison; Gelhardt Arsenal possible starting lineup: Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Partey, Xhaka; Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe; Lacazette We say: Leeds United 1-2 Arsenal Arsenal vs Leeds Premier League #Afc #Arsenal #Leeds
