Lahore Qalandars captain SOHAIL AKHTAR talk after losings match Abu Dhabi, 18 June 2021: Shahnawaz Dahani’s remarkable figures of four for five and a quick-fire half-century from Sohaib Maqsood helped Multan Sultans to an emphatic 80-run win over Lahore Qalandars in the 28th fixture of HBL PSL 6 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Friday. Qalandars, in their chase of 170, were bundled out for 89 in the 16th over. Shahnawaz, who recorded his career-best figures, accounted for Fakhar Zaman (13 off 15, one four), James Faulkner (22 off 11, one four and two sixes), Rashid Khan (two off five) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (two off three) in his 3.1 overs. The right-arm pacer also became the leading wicket-taker in the HBL PSL 6 with 18 wickets at 14 runs per dismissal in eight matches. Imran Khan snr picked three wickets for 24, while Blessing Muzarabani grabbed two for 26. Earlier, after being put into bat by Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar, Sultans got off to a poor start as Shaheen dismissed in-form Shan Masood lbw on the first ball of the match. This was the third instance of the left-armer striking on the first ball of an HBL PSL match. After Shan’s departure, Sohaib joined Mohammad Rizwan and the pair added 45 off 30 balls before Rizwan fell to Haris for 15 off 20 (three fours). Johnson Charles (10 off nine, one four) was next to go with scorecard reading 60 for three in the eighth over. The pair of Sohaib and Rilee Rossouw got together and helped Sultans stage a comeback. The pair added 63 runs for the fourth-wicket and at one stage 200 looked on the cards for Sultans but the departure of Rossouw (29 off 24, five fours) in the 15th over and Sohaib (60 off 40, three fours and four sixes) in the 17th over dried up the runs for Sultans. That the Sultans were able to cross 150-mark and post 169 for eight was because of belligerent batting from Sohail Tanvir, who scored an unbeaten 26 off nine balls, smashing three fours and two sixes. The left-handed batsman struck two towering sixes and three fours in the last over of the innings bowled by Haris which went for 24 runs. For Qalandars, Shaheen picked three wickets, while Faulkner took two wickets. The victory took Sultans to second spot on the points table with 10 points from nine games (five wins, four defeats). Qalandars, who suffered their fourth loss in a row, are down to fourth spot of the six-team table with ten points from ten matches (five wins, five defeats). Scores in brief: Match 28 – Multan Sultans beat Lahore Qalandars by 80 runs Multan Sultans 169-8, 20 overs (Sohaib Maqsood 60, Rilee Rossouw 29, Sohail Tanvir 26 not out; Shaheen Shah Afridi 3-23, James Faulkner 2-30) Lahore Qalandars 89 all out, 15.1 overs (James Faulkner 22; Shahnawaz Dahani 4-5, Imran Khan Snr 3-24, Blessing Muzarabani 2-26) Player of the match – Shahnawaz Dahani (Multan Sultans) Upcoming matches: Saturday, 19 June –Quetta Gladiators v Karachi Kings; Multan Sultans v Islamabad United
We witnessed a legendary performance by Kevin Durant. By now you’ve seen all the highlights, But did you notice how and why Giannis wasn’t guarding him on any of those possessions? Let me go deep and break down the hidden details that you may have missed. What up everybody, my name is Stefan and this is Heat Check. Let’s get into it. First things first, let me start off by saying I admire the courage of James Harden to go out there clearly injured and limited in what he could do but regardless give everything he got. Although he looked awful and I kind of felt sorry for him at times. Watch how he’s getting blown by guys in their first step. I know the joke was on him for years about his defense, but let me tell you there is no way he gets abused on defense like this if he’s healthy. Like look at this: Pat Counaghton just flies by him like there’s nobody in front. And there were multiple instances where Harden’s man created an advantage which resulted in a 3 for Milwaukee. And the situation was just as obvious offensively. 1 for 10 shooting, and you can clearly see that there’s no burst of speed, no acceleration, just jogging up and down the court, trying to preserve that hamstring which is where you fire off of when you want to speed up. Still despite all of that Harden played almost 46 minutes which is crazy. The team needed him to be on the court to just be a threat and have a defender close to him at all times, which as we saw was enough to open things up for KD to go ballistic. To me the real hero of this game was Jeff Green. 7 for 8 from downtown, a scorching hot shooting night when nobody expected that from him. With virtually nobody else stepping up to help KD carry the load, Green was out there knocking down shot after shot, keeping the team within striking distance, and allowing for that offensive explosion by their leader to secure a comeback. And that same leader was loud in praising these 2 guys Green and Harden for how they battled in this game. DURANT PRAISING HARDEN AND GREEN But let’s now go to the main point of this video. Why and how did Kevin Durant score his 49 points, and could the Bucks players as well as coaching staff do something else to prevent this catastrophic outcome for them. This tweet by CJ Mccollum might look weird at first glance but let me decode it for you. This right here means easy money. And this is who that is. Easy Money Sniper on IG. So CJ is trying to say that while KD has been cooking in the second half, Giannis kept standing to the side guarding guys like Bruce Brown and Landry Shamet. Like for real, the Nets absolutely destroyed Milwaukee with this high screen for Durant letting him get a head of steam, switch the primary defender off of him, and then Brook Lopez is left on an island here, he drops to protect the basket, and KD just raises up and knocks down the jumper. This is exactly how Brooklyn cut down the lead in the third quarter that was as big as 16 points and made this game interesting. While that was in transition- in the fourth quarter in the half court, it was pretty much the same thing of just trying to get the main guy whether PJ or Middleton switched off of him. And once that happens, you can see how easy it is for Easy Money Sniper to get a shot up and splash it. And you can see throughout that whole time, Giannis Antetokounmpo- the 2020 defensive player of the year, and this year’s first team all defense is standing in the corner guarding guys who are nowhere near the threat of scoring 50 points in a game. And the media kind of pressed him on this topic in the postgame interview, about him taking the challenge and guarding the best player in this series. GIANNIS INTERVIEW So as he says right here, I guess it’s Coach Bud to blame for not putting him on KD? I don’t know, at some point when you’re the leader of the team, you gotta step up and take the responsibility in my opinion. And I guess I can understand the fact that Giannis is the main weapon offensively so maybe the strategy was to save him as much as possible on defense so that he could go all out on the other end, but maaan, KD was playing alone in this game and he still battled on defense. To me there had to be some possessions where if not directly on him, Giannis should have at least been higher up closer to the perimeter so that it’s tougher for Brooklyn to look for the switch. This way, Durant got blistering hot and when the game was on the line, he was able to fire off one last heat check, a contested shot from waaay downtown, which ultimately sealed it. And this reaction says it all. KD CELEBRATION Of course we don’t know what happens in games 6 or possibly 7, but to me, this iconic performance by KD a triple double with 49 points 17 rebounds and 10 assists, playing every single second of the game. Exactly 48 minutes out of 48 minutes on the court.
Look at this defense on the pick and roll. Lopez stops the penetration and Holiday is quick to get out of that screen. Great activity by both players, and once it gets to a 1 on 1, Jrue is absolutely attached to Kyrie, forcing a contested jumper and a bad miss. And watching this whole possession you’ll understand why this game ended with the score in the low 80s. Look at the multiple deflections, the aggressiveness, and ultimately the block, to force a 24 second violation as the crowd goes crazy. The game ended that way as well. Scramble situation, great double team on Irving, and they made Bruce Brown beat them which if you’re the Bucks, that’s exactly what you want, as this wild shot hits nothing but the backboard. Milwaukee somehow survived, but it definitely wasn’t pretty, and if you ask me I’m afraid that it’s hard to sustain as well. Let me go through some clips and explain exactly what I mean. What up everybody, my name is Stefan and this is Heat Check. Let’s get into it. Starting off with what I loved from the game. There were multiple instances of suffocating defense, and part of the reason why KD and Kyrie shot 39 and 41% respectively is exactly that. Brook Lopez had 6 blocks in this game, and the perimeter defenders did a good job of pressuring and funneling guys towards him, so as you can see this sequence here, Irving has Holiday on him the whole time, so he’s not really able to see Brook coming to help. And as he flips it up, Lopez is there for the block. And as always I gotta give credit to PJ Tucker for fighting hard against possibly the greatest pure scorer the NBA has seen. Stays with him right here the whole time, goes up to contest and you see the result. But this is also where we get to a grey area in the game. Check out this drive for example, where we can clearly see the bump by Tucker. Last night this was a miss and play on, but we saw these being called in Brooklyn so PJ was constantly in foul trouble. This subtle bump right here by Jrue as well. Disrupts the rhythm of Irving, and even tho overall I loved this defense both from Holiday as well as Lopez, I’m afraid that they could be called on the Nets home court. But I never wanna comment on officiating so let’s move on. Instead, check out some of the missed shots by Brooklyn. A lot of these as you can see are wide open looks, that they usually are able to knock down. Especially when we talk about one of the best shooters in the league Joe Harris. Like, look at these. The Bucks really dodged a bullet in this game, as I really don’t see Joe going 1-11 on shots like these again in the series. Culminating with this last one with under a minute to go. He’ll never be more open than this. Wow. Anyway, a good thing for Milwaukee is the fact that Chris Middleton finally made his presence felt. After the abysmal shooting of 6 for 23 and 7 for 20 in the first 2 games, he exploded for 35 points on 48% shooting. On this pick and roll with Giannis, Brooklyn wasn’t switching, to keep the primary big on Antetokounmpo. So with the defender trailing him, Khris just raises up and hits the midrange shot. Again in the 4th, Blake gives him cushion, to defend the roll, and Middleton uses that to swish a clutch shot with the game on the line. And you know you have it going when you raise up above the long arms of KD and knock down a three in his face, and especially in transition, on a semi fast break, stopping on a dime and shooting a heat check to send a crowd into a frenzy. And the greek freak...maaan I could make a dedicated 1 hour video solely about the blessing and the curse of having him on the team. I’ll just explain that in under a minute. You have moments like these in transition where he looks unstoppable. Dunking all over the defense while guys just bounce off of him. But then in the half court, look at this absolutely mind boggling sequence of him just dribbling around going back and forth and back and forth which ultimately ends up with a jump ball. As you watch some of these bad looking possessions I’m not going to overcomplicate things and say that Giannis is at his best when he’s used as a screener, so if Im Budenholzer that’s what I'm doing. Either run a pick and roll with him and Middleton or him and Holiday, and make things happen from there. As for right now, as a neutral NBA fan, and one that’s always against superteams, I’m just happy that this series is getting longer. That’s all I need to enjoy at this moment. That’s it for now, subscribe and talk to you in the next one. Peace out.
HP Umpire Sean Barber ejected Astros manager Dusty Baker (fair ball call-turned-double play) in Boston an inning after 2B Umpire John Tumpane ruled an infield fly on a batted ball that was dropped by Houston SS Carlos Correa. Article: https://www.closecallsports.com/2021/06/mlb-ejection-072-sean-barber-dusty.html This hybrid infield fly rule review / ejection report covers just a piece of an odd night at Fenway Park that first saw a 6th inning fly ball from the bat of Boston's Rafael Devers look like a sure out for fielder Correa, and properly resulted in an infield fly ruling with first and second occupied and less than two out, with Tumpane ruling that Correa, as an infielder, could have caught the ball with ordinary effort, as prescribed by the infield fly rule. Note that the infield fly rule specifically states, "the umpire is to rule whether the ball could ordinarily have been handled by an infielder - not by some arbitrary limitation such as the grass, or the base lines." In other words, it matters little *where* the ball ultimately ended up—on the outfield grass vs the infield dirt, for instance. Instead, what matters is whether or not a fielder could catch the ball with ordinary effort and, in this case, Tumpane called the infield fly because Correa appeared to be squared or camped under the ball....before dropping it (the infield fly call is generally made prior to the fielder actually catching [or in this case dropping] the baseball). As for the ejection in the 7th inning, HP Umpire Barber ruled a fair ball off the bat of Astros batter Yuli Gurriel, hit in front of home plate and fielded by catcher Christian Vasquez in fair territory, Barber also ruling the ball did not make contact with Gurriel (which would have caused it to become dead—either a foul ball [if in the box in the aftermath of the swing] or interference [if out of the box after the hit]). Although Houston looked to stop playing and treated it as a foul ball based on Gurriel's reaction to the hit and despite Barber signaling the ball fair, Boston played on and retired both Gurriel at first base and baserunner Yordan Alvarez as he ran toward second base.
The Second half of proceedings could not follow after the half time break. The ref to his own safety decided not to return for the second half and eventually the game was called off. The Legon Cities's Official believed in instances like this, they should be awarded the maximum points.

The first 1000 people to use the link will get a free trial of Skillshare Premium Membership: https://skl.sh/heatcheck04211 Have you ever seen inside screens like this creating an alleyway for the point guard? Doncic goes through and Even though the Mavs didn’t score directly off of those, it’s an interesting and creative concept that I haven’t seen before so I knew I needed to feature it in this collection that I’ve made from the last couple of days. What up everybody my name is Stefan and this is Heat Check. Let’s get into it. The Hawks initially run this double screen for the point guard, but as Bogdanovic starts clearing out, you see the quick change of direction and Capella already knows, so after the initial screen, he moves down to set another one for Bogi. The catch, the shot and the three. You can see how the shooter is seemingly just slowly going through the motion at the beginning but in a split second, he starts running back and that’s what catches the defense off guard. I really liked this action from the Cavaliers against Toronto. You can see as the 2 men game is starting to develop up top, OG Anunoby has to keep an eye and try to help on the possible penetration. So Cleveland’s Dean Wade sets a back screen for Isaac Okoro. BTW guys I’m well aware that only Cavs fans know these players but bear with me. Anyway, Okoro is uncontested for a three right here, but he sees the lane being open and cuts inside. The pass and the easy layup. As we let the play roll one more time, check out how many options they got in this moment. The layup inside, and the 2 shooters out. Beautiful play design and execution from the Cleveland Cavaliers. And speaking of cuts, it’s not often that I see a big man sneaking up like this, just like a guard would. On the pick and roll, you can see all the attention from the defense being there. So as Shroder penetrates, Andre Drummond, tip toes behind his defender going from one side of the basket to the other. Dennis keeps his head up and sees this, so dishes it out to the big man for the finish. Next, Not really a set design here, but check out the awareness by Rajon Rondo. With 5 seconds on the shot clock, Paul George gets stuck and throws a crosscourt pass towards him. In this moment, Rondo sees Terrance Mann open in the corner, but knows that the clock is running down, so he just flips it straight to him with a touch pass. Mann is able to get it up before the buzzer and knock down the three. Great awareness by Rondo, pulling another awesome move from his bag of tricks. Moving on, just look at the beautiful movement by Minesotta. We got the hand off to start things off, then you have a quick pass to Towns, and the guards are crossing around him at the three point line. This ends with a great looking acrobatic layup but the shooter was open up top as well. Check out this lightning quick development in full speed. Next, keep your eye on P.J. Washington who’s gonna set a quick screen here, then immediately cut inside and screen for Rozier, and as you can see he forces a switch in both situations, so at the end P.J. is left with the much smaller Jrue Holiday under the basket. Gets the pass, bumps and finishes with the hook. Again, it all happens in the blink of an eye, and you can see how much a second is worth in this league. Ok I know, that I focus on great offense in these videos, but check out one instance of terrible defense, that made me watch this play a few times to see how the Rockets got the easiest points. The Timberwolves got faked out with the simplest hand off and that creates a 2 on 1 situation against Towns that ends up with a dunk by Christian Wood. You can see Okogie signaling right here to McLaughlin to stay there but I guess he didn’t see that, resulting in an open lane and 2 points for the Rockets. At the end, I feel like Doug Mcdermott is always on these videos. His off ball movement and the screening that the Pacers run for him, allows for some easy points. It happened again last night against Portland. As he comes off of the double screen, Dougie is open for the shot right here, but he uses the momentum and acceleration to continue all the way to the basket and go past Carmelo and finish with the layup. Hey, I always enjoy making these videos but I’m tinkering with the concept. How often I should make them, how long, how many days to include stuff like that. So let me know if you have any ideas, as I try to make these videos regular once or twice a week. That’s it for now, subscribe and talk to you in the next one. Peace out.
