And while people joked in the comments telling him to expect one of those PED tests, to randomly show up at his door, as crazy as it sounds, that exact thing really happened. As you can see on his very next post, this is a screenshot from an anti-doping officer from the NBA, telling him that he needs to contact them ASAP and be tested. Coincidence? Absolutely not. Despite the fact that a player needs to be selected truly at random, let me show you a few more instances where the league tested a player solely because of an instagram post, a nice in-game dunk, or even crazier, a photoshopped image by a random dude online. What up everybody, my name is Stefan and this is Heat Check. Letâs get into it. IG influencers say itâs all in the angles. So Michael-Carter Williams I guess perfected the technique and in this photo he looks swole in an instagram post and on top of that he captioned it âBully ballâ Teammate Mo Mamba joked that the guard will get the entire team tested. Williams tho, responded quickly: âNo lie bro. I just got a call sayin they comin to the crib tomorrowâ Less than 24 hours after posting the photo on social media, the guard proved that the NBA testing agent really did come to his door. But as he said, it was just the pic. He didnât really gain 50 pounds. Alex Carussoâs case was even funnier. In 2019, before the start of the season, the Lakers shared photos on Twitter that included one of Alex Caruso working out. Not surprisingly in the internet era, someone photoshopped Caruso, making him look much more jacked than he actually was at that time. Not long after the photos circulated on the internet, Caruso received a "random offseasonâ test in the mail, as he said on Instagram. This is hilarious to me, that the league actually looks at social media to determine which playerâs improvement is suspicious and requires testing. Moving on. Shortly after the Caruso incident, during the 2019-2020 season, his teammate at the time, Danny Green learned that a single dunk could put him on the suspect list. In a game against the Atlanta Hawks, Green came crashing for the rebound and finished with a spectacular dunk. This fired up his Lakers teammates but apparently the league office as well. The very next day, he received a random test. Danny is certainly not known for dunking, and this was his first one of the season, so the fact that this could be a coincidence goes out the window in my opinion. As you can see he had fun with this, and took it lightly. # surprisesurprise. And going by all of these hilarious examples, to me it wouldnât be a surprise surprise if this obviously photoshopped image of Kevin Durant gets him a visit from a league testing officer sometime soon. Another interesting one is Bradley Beal. Two seasons ago, he had back to back 50 point games. This of course made the alarms go off and he immediately got tested. How can you go off of the fact that he scored a lot of points in 2 consecutive games? First of all he was pretty much playing by himself that entire season since the Wizards didnât have anyone else to help him score the ball, so a 50 by him is predictable even, and not a surprise. Anyway, Bol Bol had quite an eventful debut for the Denver Nuggets. He scored 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks. It literally seemed like he was all over the floor. And as you know NBA twitter is probably the most active community online, so he was trending even during the game. Apparently too much even, because immediately after the game Bol Bol needed to prove to the league that he is all clean. Which of course he did, as well as all other guys I previously mentioned. They all tested negative. However there have been some players who did test positive recently. Most notably John Collins and Deandre Ayton. Of course they said they were unaware that a certain supplement or drink they took had a banned substance in it, but you know...when you get into that territory, itâs tough to take those things and have no idea what youâre doing. It seems like the NBA is clamping down on this issue more aggressively lately. Thereâs a big difference in how things used to be. In 2011, an ESPN The Magazine report quoted then-MVP Derrick Rose as saying performance enhancing substances are a "huge" problem in the NBA. Rose was one of several professional athletes asked the following question by ESPN the Magazine for its May 16 issue: "If 1 equals 'What are PEDs? and 10 equals 'Everybody's Juicing... How big of an issue is illegal enhancement in your sport?" In response, Rose said, "Seven. It's huge, and I think we need a level playing field, where nobody has that advantage over the next person.
Rex Chapman had a big problem with the North Carolina/Virginia Tech game Friday night. Rex Chapman called the thousands of people gathering in Virginia the COVID bowl. However...it was then revealed that Rex Chapman attended an NBA Playoff game in Phoenix just TWO MONTHS AGO. We blast Rex Chapman for another example of woke hypocrisy. The far left has always held a disdain for college football. We explain why wokers don't like college football...and how they believe it's OK for them to attending NBA games...but not OK for you to attend college football. We also look into some negative incidents at college football games over the weekend. We explain how these instances are a side effect of 18 months of negativity from the media.
We were asked about a batter-runner fighting a fielder during a home run trot and whether or not the HR still counts despite the runner failing to touch all of their awarded bases. Here's the rule. Article: https://www.closecallsports.com/2021/09/ask-uefl-batter-runner-fights-fielder.html Today's example is a play during this weekend's Reno Aces vs Tacoma Rainier's minor league game. Aces batter Henry Ramos had just hit an out-of-the-park home run and flipped his bat, leading to a prolonged series of shouting, gestures, and taunting as Ramos rounded the bases. As Ramos rounded (and touched) second base, Rainiers shortstop Donovan Walton engaged Ramos. Although Ramos continued jogging toward third base, Walton ran toward and followed Ramos as a bench-clearing brawl ensued with punches thrown. After the dust settled, Ramos had not touched third base or home plate. What's the call? In 2013, Braves catcher Brian McCann confronted Brewers batter-runner Carlos Gomez during a home run trot. The fight that followed resulted in Gomez's ejection, amongst others. Even though Gomez was ejected and failed to physically touch home plate, umpire Paul Nauert and crew awarded Gomez with a base touch of home plate, ruling that McCann had obstructed Gomez, who was entitled to run and touch all four bases without liability to be put out due to the out-of-the-park home run. In other words, the runner failed to touch the base because of an illegal act by the defense during a dead ball in which the runner was entitled to advance to and touch all bases. Had the defense not confronted the offensive player entitled to touch the bases, the runner likely would have completed such base-running responsibilities. Thus, we have obstruction and the penalty is to award the runner with appropriate base touches. Had the runner CLEARLY indicated they did not wish to run the basesâfor instance charging the mound or making a beeline toward a player immediately upon hitting a fair ball out of the playing field in flightâone could prepare for a potential defensive appeal or, alternatively, possibly rule abandonment. This was not the case here as Ramos was in the process of rounding the bases (even if Ramos was taunting/yelling at the opposing team while doing so) when the melee occurred.
The NBA has a strict dressing code for how players must look on the court whether they are playing or not. That is why you can often find college players dressing differently from NBA players. For instance, most college players wear t-shirts under their jerseys but NBA players donât. Although you might have noticed few players like Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers who is an exemption to that rule. NBA doesnât allow its player to wear t-shirts under their jersey so what you see Anthony Davis wear all the time is actually a compression shirt. What is a compression shirt and why do some players wear them often? Youâre about to find out in this video. And if youâre new to this channel, hit the like button and subscribe for more interesting NBA-related videos. The tradition of wearing a t-shirt under the uniform became popular among college players in the 1980s because of Patrick Ewing. The basketball Hall of Famer claimed that he started wearing t-shirts under his Georgetown university jersey because of the cold. He had one of the most successful college careers of all time and was selected by the New York Knicks with the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA draft. Ewing wanted to continue this tradition with the New York Knicks but NBA denied his request. However, things have changed and the NBA has relaxed some of its rules, which now allow players to wear compression shirts under their jerseys. This tradition started during the 2005-06 NBA season when players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James began wearing tights under their shorts. They claimed that these tights and sleeves helped to keep their legs warm and improve their performance. The league frowned at this practice at first but decided to allow players with medical needs to use them. This soon became popular and players like Allen Iverson started wearing compression sleeves on their arms. Now, most players wear these sleeves all the time as well as compression shirts under their jerseys. Compression shirts are made with materials designed to stretch for fit but provide pressure against the body. Most players wear them under their jerseys because it helps them absorb sweat, keep the body warm, prevent injury, and enhance performance. The muscles usually tighten up when there is cold and this might affect a playerâs performance. Also, because of the intense level of activity involved in basketball, players sweat profusely and this can make them uncomfortable. However, with a compression shirt, a player can keep his body dry and cool at all times. Beyond the reasons mentioned already, compression gears have also gained popularity because of their medical benefits. Firstly, compressions gears increase the level of oxygen delivered to the muscles, which in turn lead to better performance. If youâve ever played basketball, youâll understand that it is very strenuous and it can make you tired quickly. The tiredness is because the muscles have used up most of the oxygen available. Compression gears prevent this by increasing the volume of blood supplied to the muscles, which in turn make more oxygen available. Another important benefit that they have is that they can shorten the period of muscle recovery during and after a game. Players often experience muscle fatigue during games and workouts, which may affect their level of performance. However, with the muscles in place, it can prevent injuries and muscle pulls. Over the years, weâve seen several NBA players wear compression shirts but it seems some cannot do without it. But Anthony Davis comes first on the list of the most notorious compression shirt wearer in the league. Because of that, some curious people have flooded forums with this particular question, âWhy does Anthony Davis wear that compression shirt every game?â Well, this is because he has suffered several injuries right from his rookie season. He revealed that he had a torn labrum in his left shoulder since his rookie season but he didnât go for surgery immediately. When the pain got worse, AD started wearing a compression shirt to help him stabilize his ailing shoulder. So when next you see him playing with a shirt under his jersey, you should know that heâs not doing it for fashion. Do you know any other NBA players who wear compression shirts in every game? Drop their names in the comment below. Although there are people who believe that compression shirts do not improve playersâ performance. However, it has become entrenched as part of the NBAâs standard look and players now wear it fashionably by matching it with the color of their jerseys. Even though many of them donât wear compression with sleeves like Anthony Davis, they often wear sleeveless ones. Thank you for watching this video. Several non Soccer playing-related stories dominate the discussion on this week's Soccer 2 the MAX, as the two-man crew of Sean Garmer and Erik Watkins tackle quite a few big topics. We apologize up front for a few technical issues with Sean's mic in the show or some background noise. The big drama in Nice with their game against Marseille and why the wrong decision was made by Ligue 1 officials. Why more should be done to protect players and why manager Jorge Sampaoli deserves some blame too. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jurgen Klopp both are not big fans of the new English Premier League rules about letting "the game flow" leading to some questionable decisions in games. Is the league better for these changes following more of the precedent set by EURO 2020, or are the managers right in this instance? Along with that, the Premier League announced they've come to a decision to not allow its players to travel to countries that are on the UK government's red list which highly affects countries in South America, Asia, and Africa who won't have some of their best players for three World Cup Qualifying games. Who's right? FIFA or the ECA? Finally, some actual on-the-pitch stuff with the MLS All-Star game happening. Who wins? And what about all the players that aren't going to be there for both sides? Does this severely lessen the viability of this encounter? Should MLS versus Liga MX be the way forward for this event? Plus, why are the United States not good at Beach Soccer What We Watched This Week and the Supporters Club too.
