Oh Oooh, when he starts pulling up 3’s from way downtown, you know you’re in trouble. And the best thing is, he was just heating up. Heat Check! Luka went crazy in the opening minutes, hitting 5 of 5 from beyond the arc. And he was staring at the Clippers bench after each and every one of them. His hot streak ended on the next possession when he initially got the whistle for 3 free throws, but after the challenge by Ty Lue, the call got overturned. This only added fuel to the fire because… Doncic with the block on Harden on one end and then the tough layup in transition! It was a full display of his arsenal as Luka counted to 24 points in the 1st quarter! Unbelievable! Last night was absolutely insane- We got Luka Doncic crying before the game, all of a sudden now Nikola Jokic is the coach of the Nuggets. And things escalated in San Fran with a game winner at the buzzer. But we gotta start in Dallas for the first return of Luka Doncic since the trade. And boy, things got very emotional… Maan he really seemed crushed, despite Bron and company trying their best to cheer him up. But as soon as he stepped on the court, all of that vanished, and he started torturing his former teammates. And expectedly so, the “Fire Nico” chants broke out immediately. And continued all throughout the game, with Nico hiding near the tunnel. Then, AD got his turn to dance with Doncic up top. You can tell that Luka wanted to make a statement. Best of all, the entire arena cheered whenever Doncic scored. I guess it's just muscle memory. Anyway, Gafford gave them a few reasons to cheer about their own team for a change. And the Mavs had a slight edge after one, but then, the Lakers brought Showtime into Dallas in the 2nd period. But none of this compares to the Doncic domination in the first half, as everyone could see that he was out for blood. A 17 point quarter for Luka for an astonishing 31 point first half in the return, saying yeah this is what you traded away. But despite all the theatrics, the Mavs punished LA’s smaller lineup inside, and stayed in this game throughout the first half. Things were even in the third quarter, but this is when the Lakers started clamping down forcing 6 turnovers in the period. And look at the lightning quick movement closing out for the entire possession, and turning defense into offense. Trailing at the start of the final period, the Mavs had to make a push, and they did so going inside again on the Lakers. But then, all hell broke loose after this great defensive sequence by the home team, which turned into… So with the arena rocking, and the momentum on Dallas’ side, nobody had an idea that the Lakers were about to go on a monster run led by Lebron. LeBarbie takes over with 13 points in the 4th, catapulting the Lakers to a 20 to 6 run to completely blow this game open. And Luka added his imprint to this spectacle when… This guy is unreal! 45 points in his old arena leaving the game to standing ovations with nobody having an idea why in the world they traded this phenom. The Lakers win a crucial game to stay at number 3 in the standings. And Golden State had the same mission against the Spurs, but this turned into a thriller at the end. Down by 1 they need a bucket and you know who they turn to. Steph Curry with his 30th point of the night gets the lead back for the Warriors. Next possession, they have a chance to extend the lead but… That’s the second turnover in the clutch for Golden State leading to San Antonio fast break points, and it didn’t stop there. Maaan what is going on it’s like the Warriors forgot how to play basketball. Thankfully for them, this was called a foul on the Spurs so Jimmy goes to the line and knocks down both free throws. So needing a bucket San Antonio turns to Keldon Johnson and he delivers… A grown men battle under the rim with Draymond and he puts it in to tie the game and the drama continues. It’s Golden State’s turn now but guess what happens. Unbelievable, another turnover by the Warriors so now the visitors have a huge opportunity, and they use it. What a pass by Stephon Castle to find the sneaking Johnson and the Spurs have the lead. But on the final possession they foul Draymond and give him 2 free throws just like that. I guess they were like, anything but a Steph Curry shot at the end. And it seemed like a good idea to put a 68% free throw shooter for the season on the line buuuut Green stays ice cool and knocks down both. So it all comes to this final shot for San Antonio… Oh my goodness! A game winner by Barnes in his old arena to stun Golden State and knock them in the play in zone with only 2 games left to be played. Wooow the season finale is going to be absolutely nuts in the West.

SGA Just Got CALLED OUT By Everyone…

Clippers fans just exposed SGA by calling him a flopper in the middle of the game. And there was madness in the battle for the second seed in the west. But we gotta start in LA where the Clippers are undefeated in the last 8 games at home. The Thunder were playing without Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, their 2nd and 3rd scoring options, but they still got this guy. Man, Shai is so slick getting to the rim. But the Clippers also have a guy who can be unstoppable at times… Yeah, that’s right. Ben Simmons and SGA went eye for an eye at the end of the 1st period. After connecting on 2 consecutive buckets, Bennn got carried away a little bit.. Still, LA built a 10 point lead by shooting 52% from the field in the opening quarter. But at the start of the 2nd, the Thunder showed their real power. An electric 14-0 run led by Aaron Wiggins helped OKC regain control in just 3 minutes. Oklahoma would remain on top throughout the game despite a season low 24% from the field by Alexander. He got to his usual numbers though, by doing what he does best. The crowd didn’t like that, so on this obvious bait late in the 3rd, they let him know it. That’s wild. So, in the 4th quarter with the Clippers trailing by 6, get ready cuz here comes the Claw. Kawhi Leonard put on a vintage performance in the final period and got his team up by 2 with 2 minutes left to play. With Shai struggling with his shot, the Thunder dug deep into their roster and found Caruso in the clutch. Alex gets the shooter's touch and takes back the lead for OKC. On the other end, the refs missed a crucial foul by SGA on Zubac, complicating things in crunchtime. And things went from bad to worse for LA on the inbounds because… Caruso had an almost perfect quarter if it wasn’t for this one missed free throw. Regardless, Derrick Jones Jr. on the other side couldn’t punish that as he splitted his free throws as well. So, with Shai being doubled, Alex did his part by dropping the pass beautifully to Hartenstein but… A monster block by Zubac to deny Isiah at the rim giving his team a chance to take the lead with time winding down. LA blows two chances at the end as they must foul Shai now, who goes to the line and stays ice cool by hitting 2 shots to extend the lead to 3. And with 3 seconds to go, Caruso plays smart and foul Kawhi here to prevent a 3 point shot. So, after knocking down the 1st one, Leonard misses the 2nd intentionally but the ball is tipped away as the buzzer sounds marking the 6th win in a row for the Thunder, and the end of the winning stretch for the Clippers. OKC sweeps the season series 4-0. Moving on to Houston where the Rockets’ 9 game winning streak was put to the test by the Jokic-less Nuggets. Denver, led by Jamal Murray and Deandre Jordan went on a tear in the 3rd quarter. Yeah, you heard that right - Murray was shooting unconsciously while DJ was skywalking, putting on a real show for Rockets fans. Jamal with 17 of his 39 points in the 3rd has put the Nuggets up by 17 going into the final period. However, Dillon Brooks with 2 quick 3’s at the start of the 4th breath in a little hope that the Rockets can mount a comeback. And they kept pushing hard, closing the gap to just 6 points with a lot left on the game clock. Little did they know that this was going to be their last made field goal in the next 5 minutes of action. They went ice cold, shooting 0 for 10 in that span. In the meantime, the Nuggets who were struggling themselves, somehow found ways to get the lead back to 9 points. And when time finally came to break the spell on Shengun’s layup here, Houston made things interesting in the clutch again, because… Woow, all of a sudden, the Rockets are back in the game. And they continue with their smothering defense, forcing another turnover by the Nuggets. So with a chance to make it a 1 possession game, here comes Jalen Green. A great contest by Westbrook as the help defender to deny Green’s layup. Seeing that the game could slip away, Jamal Murray takes matters into his own hands. Murray splits the free throws, and leaves the door open just a bit for the Rockets. Alpi cuts it to 3, but now they must foul, sending Christian Braun to the line who turns off the noise in the building and knocks down both shots in the clutch to bump the lead up to 5 points. This turned out to be enough as the Nuggets remained calm in the penalty shootout to snap Houston’s 9 game winning streak. Denver is now 2-2 with Jokic out and just 1 game behind the Rockets for the 2nd seed in the West. The Pistons, playing without their All-Star Cade Cunningham faced the Pelicans, and the red-hot CJ McCollum. CJ counted to 40 in this game, but that still wasn’t enough as Detroit got a huge boost off the bench by Ron Holland and Marcus Sasser. Jalen Duren had a big game as well with 22 points and 12 rebounds on 73% efficiency which proved to be too much for New Orleans.

And for everyone in attendance, a surprise t-shirt of their newest star was awaiting on the seats. Even LeBron was grooving in it. So when time came for the introductions, James let Doncic have his welcome moment as the last one announced. The star studded crowd included Dirk Nowitzki, who flew over from Dallas just to support his student. And it wasn’t long before Luka knocked down one of his signature step back 3’s. The Lakers took control of the game early with LeBron leading the way and showing Luka how it’s done here. So, Doncic had to follow that up. He scored 14 points in limited playing time during his debut, forcing oohs and aahs from the home crowd almost every time he touched the ball. And the highlight of the night came late in the 2nd quarter when… Usually Bron’s the one throwing these dimes, but now with another high IQ player on the team, James can get down the court faster and also free himself in the halfcourt for a back-door cut, knowing that Luka will certainly find him if he’s open. Talking about Bron, look at him chilling on the wing while Doncic takes Kessler for a dance, this is new to him, but as he stated it’s Luka’s time now and he’ll somehow find his way around the floor. Doncic had a poor shooting night though, going 5 of 14 from the field after a seven week absence since he got hurt on Christmas. The team is expected to have one of their superstars on the floor at all times when Doncic is up to his normal form. Let’s not forget Austin Reaves, who circles the Lakers trio of creators. The role players on this team will be highly elevated in this process. All they need to do is catch the ball and convert. Pay attention to Jaxson Hayes in these couple of months, he’s turning into Gafford no. 2 for sure. LA had seven players scoring in double figures, as they shot a blistering 54% from the floor and had a lead as big as 34 points. But it's the Jazz, and I’m not going to emphasize anything, only the signs are showing me that Luka is going to have a smooth lake sailing from here onwards. The Lakers are on a roll, winning 12 of their last 14 games with another meeting in Utah coming up tomorrow night. After the All-Star break they have another pair of easy games as well, and this game against the Nuggets could easily propel them into the 3rd spot in the wild western conference. Speaking of wild, we had an absolute thriller in Dallas last night, with Demar Derozan having himself a ball game against the Mavs. Mr. 4th quarter, connects on 3 straight possessions, bringing the Kings to just 1 point deficit. Sacramento even had a chance to take the lead with less than 40 seconds to go, but Kyrie intercepted Monk’s pass and showed his incredible shot making abilities in the clutch. So, with the game on the line you know who’s got the ball. Woow, Deebo made it scoring over a great defender like Max Christie look so easy. However, with 3 seconds still on the clock Irving can spoil everything. Malik Monk stays glued to Ky and blocks his game winning attempt, so we go to overtime. In the extra 5 minutes, with Derozan struggling to get an open look, Malik Monk took over the scoring load. Monk was huge for Sacramento, making hustle plays and converting on a couple of 2nd chance opportunities. Who’s gonna step up for the Mavs? Kyrie misses the go ahead 3, and now the Kings can go for the dagger. Demar makes both clutch free throws, creating a 2 possession lead, but Irving responds with a quick bucket. Now you just have to wait it out and stay calm on the foul line, but Derozan decides to attack the basket and misses the reverse layup, awarding the Mavs a shot for the win with 12 seconds remaining. And then, an explosion in the arena. Captain Klay swishes what everyone thought would be the game winning 3, only thing is… Oh my goodness, Demar freezes both defenders here before draining the floater to shock the home crowd. And with no timeouts left, Dinwiddie commits an offensive foul at the end cementing their loss. For the disappointment to be bigger, the Mavs lost Daniel Gafford in the 2nd quarter after he hurt his knee while setting a screen.. It must be heartbreaking for Dallas fans right now…
