That will be Stumps on Day 4. Another intriguing day comes to an end. At the end of the day all three results are possible. England may have their noses in front but Pakistan are not out of it by any means. It was an action-packed Day 4 to say the least. Pakistan resumed today with a deficit of 158 with 3 wickets in hand. Salman Agha scored a valuable 53 off 67 balls to take Pakistan closer to England's first innings. Naseem Shah contributed with 15 off 21 balls. Zahid Mahmood did well as he hung around for 48 balls to score 17 runs. Haris Rauf scored 12 off 32 balls as Pakistan ended at 579 in 155.3 overs with the help of 18 extras given by the English bowlers. A couple of wickets apiece for Naseem Shah Mohammad Ali and Zahid Mahmood. Mahmood went for a lot of runs today. Agha Salman picked up the other wicket despite being very expensive. All the bowlers were taken to the cleaners. Chasing a target of 343 to take a 1-0 lead Pakistan lost Abdullah Shafique for 6. Azhar Ali faced just 2 balls before retiring hurt as he was hit on the gloves and hurt his finger badly. The big wicket of Babar Azam was scalped by his opposite number Ben Stokes for 4. Pakistan was 25/2 at one stage. Since then the duo of Imam ul Haq and Saud Shakeel has added 55 runs for the third wicket and has taken their side close. Imam is batting on 43* off 60 balls while Shakeel is batting on 24* off 42 balls as Pakistan ended Day 4 at 80/2 after 20 overs needing a further 263 runs more to win the contest. A wicket apiece for Ollie Robinson and Ben Stokes. A lot of hard work awaits the English bowlers when action resumes on the fifth and final day tomorrow. So the equation is simple. Pakistan needs 263 more runs to win while England will require a further 8 wickets to win the contest. Azhar Ali is retired hurt and we don't know whether he will be able to bat tomorrow. A fascinating Day 5 awaits us. We have had four absorbing days of Test match cricket in Rawalpindi where the bat has dominated the ball on a lifeless track. But thanks to England's aggressive brand of cricket and declaration they have pushed the game forward and made sure that all results are possible coming into the final day's play. When we started off we felt like we maybe staring at a dull draw. But that won't be the case today as this game can go either way. It was an action-packed Day 4 to say the least. Pakistan resumed Day 4 at 499/7 and added 80 runs for the last three wickets to finish with 579 in 155.3 overs. They got there thanks to Salman Agha who notched up a very important half-century to score 53 off 67 balls. He was ably supported by Zahid Mahmood who hung around for 48 balls for 17 runs. Haris Rauf battling an injury hung around for 32 balls for his 12 runs. 18 extras contributed to the total as Pakistan handed 78-run first innings lead to England. The debutant Will Jacks was the pick of the bowlers for England as he sent down 40.3 overs and picked up 6 wickets for 161 runs. He was ably supported by Jack Leach as he sent down 49 overs and picked up a couple of wickets for 190 runs. A wicket apiece for the pace bowlers James Anderson and Ollie Robinson. This will be the first bilateral ODI series between the two teams after 2015. Injury has struck both teams on the eve of the series. While Bangladesh will miss Tamim Iqbal and Taskin Ahmed India will be devoid of Mohammed Shami who has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury. However both these teams are blessed with incredible bench strength which is why we expect a cracking series to be on the cards. Bangladesh have been ordinary in white-ball cricket of late. Having seemingly moved on from Trent Boult and Martin Guptill the hosts seem to have built a solid foundation as they build towards the 2023 World Cup. Michael Bracewell isn't a guaranteed starter despite his stellar recent form and even injury to James Neesham couldn't prevent them from India in the series-opener in Auckland. Their quartet of fast bowlers offer both pace and movement while Neesham Bracewell and Mitchell Santner complete a trio of allrounders. Batting depth might be New Zealand's one major concern given that they can't accommodate all their allrounders and that Tim Southee's returns with the bat have faded of late. They could look to address the sixth-bowler issue by bringing Deepak Hooda into their line-up but that would leave them with the dilemma of who to leave out. But they still have a series to win which would need them first and foremost to win on Sunday and end a five-match losing streak against New Zealand. New Zealand Team news: were forced to leave Neesham out in Auckland due to a niggle. If he returns they might have a difficult choice to make. While they will welcome the extra batting depth he offers if he replaces one of the four specialist quicks they might need him to bowl his full ten-over quota with Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips having been used very sparingly of late. India Team news: There is a chance India might bring in Hooda as a sixth bowling option but this could force them to leave out Suryakumar Yadav who hasn't yet replicated his T20I success in ODIs. India's three fast bowlers were all expensive in Auckland so there is a chance that Deepak Chahar could replace one of them. This time the white-ball series consists of 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs. The first of the 3 T20Is begins at the Sky Stadium in Wellington as both teams eye for an early series lead. An overview on the visitors: The Men in Blue have sent a completely different squad with a nice mixture of youngsters and experienced players to this New Zealand T20I series. Hardik Pandya will lead the side with Rishabh Pant doing the duties of his deputy. They have also inserted Shreyas Iyer back in the T20I setup with Shubman Gill getting a T20I call-up as well. While a few players continue their T20I journey from the World Cup a few other players get back to play the short format series back after their bilateral series against South Africa back at home a month earlier. India are coming off after having a horror show in the semi-finals against England as the tournament favourites bowed out in another ICC knockout match. Now the eyes are set on future tournaments with this being a perfect opportunity for the new stars to rise in the absence of some senior players. So the Hardik Pandya-led side is expected to go with a line-up that has balance in all aspects of the game. An overview on the hosts: New Zealand are no different from India if you talk about the World Cup performance. While both of them topped the group stages they also had a horrible turnout in the semifinals. Kane Williamson is leading the side as usual with many of the familiar names in the squads as they had in the showpiece event. They have moved on from Martin Guptill at least for this series alongside giving rest to their swing king Trent Boult. The management has also brought the pacer Blair Tickner into the side and he should be in the playing XI straightaway. Just before the World Cup New Zealand featured in a T20I tri-series consisting of Bangladesh and Pakistan and for their bad Pakistan took the trophy with them. Now they have another home assignment to clear off and this is a big challenge as they have India infront of them. With a lot at stake both teams will be itching to get their feet on the ground. While Hardik Pandya would love to continue the Indian dominance in the Island Nation yet again Kane Williamson and co will be keen on having a better home summer. The first one officiates at Adelaide Oval🏟 where India lost to England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022. The Chop and Changes (England🏴): The ODI Champions have quite a tinkered setup post the T20 World Cup. Ben Stokes is not a part of the 50-over-format as he retired back in July 2022. Jonny Bairstow continues to miss matches and Jason Roy has been summoned after a breather during the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022. James Vince Sam Billings and Olly Stone are a part of the side with Luke Wood chipped in as well. Wood had a good outing against Pakistan in the 7-match T20 series. The ever-entertaining duo of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne is expected to be the wall of the batting line-up at no.3 and 4 respectively as it used to be. The spin department is led by Adam Zampa and the pace-battery-trio remains a constant for Australia across formats.
