Sl vs Aus - Kusal Janith Perera became first Sri Lankan batsman to hit 100 fours & 50 sixes in T20Is
Kusal Perera's missed save ball was converted into his 19th T20I half - century by David Warner. The Australian team recorded an easy victory today (28th). David Warner increased his innings to 65 off 42 balls when he missed an easy catch off wicketkeeper Kusal Perera off Dushmantha Chameera. Leading the innings, the first wicket partnership became 70 off 42 balls. Wanindu Hasaranga, who took Finch's wicket in the first over when the skipper gave the ball away, also took Maxwell's wickets within 10 runs. Dasun Shanaka also broke Warner's 50 - run partnership with Steven Smith for the third wicket. But even then, Warner was able to take Sri Lanka's hopes of victory even further. KL Rahul and Punjab Kings were left baffled after a caught-behind appeal was turned down against Devdutt Padikkal in Ravi Bishnoi's over in Match 48 of IPL 2021 in Sharjah on Sunday. KL Rahul had a lengthy chat with the umpires, expressing his disappointment after the over from Ravi Bishnoi. It all started when Devdutt Padikkal, who was struggling to read the leg-spinner's googlies, went for a reverse sweep. However, he was not able to execute the shot properly and got an under-edge. Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper KL Rahul's tryst with the third umpire isn't ending anytime soon it seems as after getting a decision in his favour the other night against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when Rahul Tripathi took a catch to dismiss wicket-keeper batter but the TV umpire reckoned that the ball had touched the ground. Ravi Bishnoi and KL Rahul went up in appeal immediately but the on-field umpire did not give it out. Rahul did not waste any time as he straightaway went for the review. The replays showed the ball kissed Devdutt Padikkal's gloves before crashing into KL Rahul's gloves. There was a spike, albeit a light one when the ball was passing the batsman's gloves. Just when PBKS were expecting the on-field decision to be reversed, the third umpire deemed it not-out, much to the frustration of Rahul and Bishnoi. Former cricketers, including Kris Srikkanth and Scott Styris, took to social media to express their disappointment at the third umpire's decision even after seeing the replays. Notably, PBKS not only lost the appeal but lost their only review of the match. While Styris labeled the third umpire's decision as a "joke", Srikkanth called it "terrible umpiring" in an important match for PBKS, who are facing a must-win situation in the race for the play-offs.
