India won the three-match T20 cricket series against Sri Lanka with one match remaining. That was followed by a 7-wicket victory in the second 20-20 match between the two countries. Chasing a mammoth target of 184, India chased down the target by 17 wickets in 17.1 overs. Rohit Sharma was dismissed for one and Ishant Kishan for 16. Then Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson put on 84 (47) for the third wicket. Sanju scored 39 off 25 balls. Iyer scored an unbeaten 74 off 44 balls. Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 45 off just 18 balls. Dushmantha Chameera took one wicket and Lahiru Kumara took two wickets. India won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Sri Lankan batsmen finished the innings with 183 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Danushka Goonetileke and Pathum Nissanka put on 67 runs for the opening wicket. Dhanushka was dismissed for 38 (29) and Charith Asalanka for 2. Kamil Mishra was run out for one run. Dinesh Chandimal scored only 9 runs. Then for the 5th wicket Pathum and skipper Dasun Shanaka put on a quick 58 off 26 balls. Pathum scored 75 (53) for his 5th international 20-20 half century while Dasun Shanaka scored an unbeaten 47 (19). Dasun's innings included five huge sixes and two fours. Sri Lanka scored 80 runs in the last 5 overs. This is India's 11th consecutive victory in the Twenty20 Internationals. The third and final Twenty20 match between the two countries is scheduled to be played today. Sri Lanka fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera set a new record today (26). That was in the second Twenty20 match against India. Chameera set the record by taking the wicket of Indian captain Rohit Sharma. It was the fifth time that Dushmantha Chameera had taken Rohit Sharma's wicket at the International Twenty20. Today, he goes down in history as the bowler who has taken the most number of wickets in a 20-20 international. No bowler has taken five wickets in 20 overs before. Rohit Sharma (3308) is currently the highest scorer in international Twenty20 internationals. Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis and skipper Dasun Shanaka, who were on the verge of a complete defeat, came out on top and the bowlers were able to fulfill their responsibilities in the fifth and final Twenty20 match played in Melbourne today (20th).
