The Warriors hung with the Miami Heat through the first three quarters of Thursday’s road game, but the overabundance of turnovers eventually caught up with the squad as the squad dropped the game 116-109. The Warriors out-rebounded the Heat 46-37, had a solid 22-for-25 night from the free throw line and made 15-of-37 3-pointers, all of which typically point to a solid night. But the Dubs allowed 27 points off of 20 turnovers through the game, which making a comeback a tall task against a top defense like that of the Heat. Stephen Curry finished with 36 points with five shots made from beyond the arc to go with 11 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season. Andrew Wiggins added 23 points with five splashes, notching his fourth consecutive 20-point game. Draymond Green tied his season high with 16 points to go with 10 rebounds and eight assists, his ninth double-double of the season. The Warriors are right back at it on Friday night as the team wraps up their back-to-back when they visit the Toronto Raptors (4 p.m., NBCSBA) who are playing their home games in Tampa Bay this season.

Verizon Game Rewind | Warriors Drop Second of Back-to-Back - March 26, 2021
Verizon Game Rewind | Warriors Drop Second of Back-to-Back - March 26, 2021

In a near repeat of Thursday’s loss to the Sacramento Kings when the Dubs allowed their opponent to shoot 60.2 percent, the Warriors dropped Friday’s contest at Chase Center 124-108 as they allowed the Atlanta Hawks to shoot over 66 percent for the first half. Despite the final result, the Warriors had flashes of productivity and effort in Friday’s loss. Andrew Wiggins lead the Dubs in scoring (29 points), rebounds (7) and blocks (2) as he continued to show his effectiveness as a two-way wing. Nico Mannion also had a strong showing in 25 minutes off the bench in which he produced 10 points and five assists. He added two steals, one of which was a pick of Atlanta’s Trey Young at half court which Mannion ran down to the 3-point line and splashed his shot as the third quarter buzzer went off. After dropping their last three straight games, the Warriors have the weekend to regroup and prepare for their next matchup on Monday night against the visiting Chicago Bulls (7 p.m., NBCSBA). That contest will wrap up Women’s Empowerment Month, presented by Chase.

Verizon Game Rewind | Warriors Lose Splash-Fest in Sacramento - March 25, 2021

The Warriors made 17 3-pointers while shooting 55 percent from distance, but that wasn’t enough to keep up with the high-octane Kings in Thursday’s 141-119 defeat in Sacramento. The Warriors matched the Kings’ pace early and even used an 18-5 run over a three-minute stretch in the first quarter to take a seven-point lead. Andrew Wiggins scored 15 of his 26 points in that opening quarter and Juan Toscano-Anderson added a spark to keep the Dubs in the game early. Kelly Oubre Jr. overcame a rough start to finish with 19 points, and Jordan Poole also came on in the second half to finish with 17 points and five assists. Nico Mannion and Toscano-Anderson were effective from the perimeter as well, as the rookie guard shot 5-for-8 from distance to finish with a career-high 19 points and Toscano-Anderson, starting in place of Green, finished 6-for-6 from the floor for 15 points, including three treys. This marked the third straight loss for the Warriors, who will return to their home hardwood on Friday night to host the Hawks.

Verizon Game Rewind | Dubs Lose Late in Grind-it-Out Game Against Grizzlies - March 20, 2021
Verizon Game Rewind | Dubs Lose Late in Grind-it-Out Game Against Grizzlies - March 20, 2021

If Friday’s matchup was not hard enough with a short-handed roster as Warriors missed action, Saturday’s game became that much more difficult as starting center Kevon Looney had to sit out due to NBA Health & Safety Protocols. Though the undermanned Dubs hung with the Memphis Grizzlies as best they could, they eventually fell 111-103 Saturday night on the road. Nobody would expect a team to have a chance at winning, let alone competing in a game, after shooting 20 percent from the field in the first quarter and then 41 percent each of the next two, but that is what the Warriors did. Despite shooting 34.4 percent on the night, the Dubs held the Grizzlies to an equally rough 38.9 percent night from the field. The squad was never down by more than 11 points through the game as they hung with the Grizzlies to the very last minute. Despite the odds stacked against them, the Warriors showed a level of tenacity through the second half that Dub Nation can take pride in as they attempted to steal this game.
