No splashes? No problem. The Warriors struggled to find their range from distance for the first 45 minutes of Tuesday’s game, but they got hot when it mattered most. Andrew Wiggins, Juan Toscano-Anderson, and Jordan Poole connected for three consecutive 3-pointers in the final three minutes to set the team up to defeat the Phoenix Suns 122-116. With Tuesday’s win, the Warriors beat two top teams in NBA on consecutive nights in the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns, both of who are competing for the top spot in the Western Conference. Additionally, the Dubs stay in the No. 8 spot in the West and ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies, who defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. The Warriors get some time off after sweeping their final back-to-back of the 2020-21 campaign. Their next game is not until Friday when the squad hosts the New Orleans Pelicans (6:30 p.m., NBCSBA, ESPN). @verizon || Game Rewind
Stephen Curry scored 17 of his 34 points in the third quarter and the Warriors opened a regular season-ending six-game homestand with a 118-97 victory over the Thunder on Thursday night at Chase Center. Although Oklahoma City stayed competitive for most of the game, the Warriors out-scored the Thunder in each quarter and put the game away with a 23-10 spurt over a seven-minute stretch bridging the third and fourth periods. Curry made three of his six 3-pointers during that spurt, and the Warriors rode that momentum to victory. With the win, the Warriors improve to 34-33 on the season, and the Dubs will get another matchup with the Thunder on Saturday. @verizon || Game Rewind
While the Warriors and their eight-man rotation competed down to the final buzzer against a New Orleans Pelicans team fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, the team just did not have it down the stretch as the Dubs fell 108-103. While every Warrior, with the exception of starting center Kevon Looney, finished with one 3-pointer made, giving them 20 total in the game, Curry and Wiggins were the only Dubs to finish with double-digits in scoring. The Pelicans’ Ball finished with 33 points with a 7-for-13 shooting performance from beyond the arc. The loss concludes the Warriors’ back-to-back as well as the final road trip of the season in which the team went 2-2. The playoff stretch now returns home, Dub Nation! The Warriors’ final six games are all in the friendly confines of Chase Center. It all starts on Thursday when the team hosts the Oklahoma City Thunder (7 p.m., NBCSBA). @verizon || Game Rewind
The Warriors opened Monday’s game with a quick 12-1 run over the New Orleans Pelicans, and they rode that early lead all the way through the remainder of the contest to win 123-108. Monday’s win was a critical one for the Dubs. The Pelicans are still in contention for a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament, sitting at 29-36 and in 11th place. With the Warriors and San Antonio Spurs in the final two spots of the tournament at 9th and 10th, the victory helps the Dubs distance themselves from New Orleans with two games between the clubs remaining. The winner of the series will also hold a tiebreaker should they end up tied at the end of the season. @verizon || Game Rewind
There was no sugar coating Tuesday’s final result: the Warriors struggled mightily in the first half and that set the tone, as the Dubs fell to the Dallas Mavericks 133-103 on the home hardwood at Chase Center. Guard Mychal Mulder notched career highs in points (26) and three-pointers made (6) in his third consecutive start. He is averaging 17 points per game across his last three contests. Stephen Curry finished with 27 points on a 5-for-9 night on his 3-point attempts. He extended his NBA record of most treys made in a month up to 90 through April. And coming off the bench with 10 points each were Kelly Oubre Jr. and Jordan Poole. Both dropped two splashes each in the contest, while Poole added three dimes as well. The squad will look to bounce back quickly on Thursday when the Warriors hit the road to play the Minnesota Timberwolves (5 p.m., NBCSBA). That game will also tipoff the final road trip for the Dubs that includes four games, all against clubs sitting below them in the Western Conference standings.
It wasn't Opening Night, but the atmosphere had that kind of feel as the Warriors played a game at Chase Center in front of fans for the first time in 409 days. It was a dramatic night, too, as the Warriors watched the fourth place Denver Nuggets make a comeback attempt early in the fourth quarter, but Stephen Curry led a 10-2 run once he re-entered the game to hold-off the Nuggets and claim a 118-97 victory. The team suits up once again on Sunday when they return to the home hardwood to host the Sacramento Kings (7 p.m., NBCSBA).
