To understand how India will perform against Nepal we need to look at how India has performed in the recent past. So lets look at how India performed in the two friendly games versus Nepal before SAFF. As you can see, the first match was a draw and the second match we won by 2-1. So, it's clear that we are the favourites to win against Nepal. But it will be a hard match considering the form of Nepal since they have won their previous 2 matches. They won against Maldives and Sri Lanka. This is because it was an open game and none of the teams played defensively. But if you look at the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka game versus India, you may have noticed that both teams were made to play defensively due to dominating performance of team India. Skill-wise Indian players are much better than other teams in SAFF, but some problems led to India's undesirable results till now. After good performances of team India under coach Stephan Constantine, AIFF & Indian fans wanted a change in playing style. So Igor Stimac was brought in for this difficult task and India is still struggling to score goal since then. Yes, India's playing style has improved from just being counter attacks. But India has struggled to find a quality goalscorer upfront other than Sunil Chhetri. All the prolific goalscorers during Constantine's era are out of the team due to poor performance or injuries or are having a difficult time in terms of form. There is similar issue in the defense department and we don't have a solid defence yet. But still we are not that poor as it is being reflected in the results. Our opponents are just getting lucky whereas we have been unlucky. I hope all the hardwork that players put in will bare it's fruits soon as possible and we get the required experience from this SAFF Championship. At the end we have to qualify for AFC Asian Cup 2023, and I hope that our bad luck does not continue and we win against Nepal. Also, hope that we win the SAFF Championship but our main focus is and should be on developing and giving experience to each and every player who will help us in the Asian Cup qualifiers. Afterall, it will be disappointing if we loose in Asian Cup qualifiers after winning the SAFF championship. Don't forget that we drew against Qatar but that doesn't mean that we are equal to Qatar. Springboks beat British & Irish Lions to level series
The Springboks rekindled memories of the 2019 World Cup final as they smashed the British & Irish Lions to level the 2021 series 1-1 and take it to next week’s decider. It ended 27-9. After a week of tension, acrimony, accusations, anger and deflection, the Springboks won the second Test over the British & Irish Lions by simply being the superior team on the field over 80 minutes. Their decisive second-half performance, which yielded 21 unanswered points, was as good as anything this group has produced in the last three years. They simply blew the Lions off the pitch by keeping the tourists scoreless. The series will go to a decider in South Africa for the first time since 1955. There was always a feeling the Boks would improve as the series went on after their disjointed build-up, but the step up they took in the second stanza of the second Test was massive. The momentum of the series has moved completely the way of the home team and the tourists are the ones who will have to come up with answers before next week’s decider. The Lions simply didn’t cope upfront and in the air. Lions fullback Stuart Hogg and wing Duhan van der Merwe were badly exposed as Handre Pollard and Faf de Klerk rained bombs on them all evening.
