India are wonderfully placed at the start of day two. However there was a bit of wobble early in their innings after electing to bat first. They lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) Shubman Gill (0) and Rajat Patidar (5) in quick succession as they were reduced to 33/3 in the ninth over. Skipper Rohit was joined by Jadeja and both led the recovery work. The pair of Rohit and Jadeja held the innings nicely. The Indian skipper was dropped by Joe Root at first slip early in the innings and he pounced on the opportunity. He made sure that the English side pays a heavy price as he brought up his ton. Rohit and Jadeja put 204 between them before the former fell on 131. In walked debutant Sarfaraz and he played positively from the word go. Sarfaraz notched up a beautiful half-century in his debut innings and looked settled for a big score before being run out on 62. Jadeja brought up his century and remained unbeaten on 110 along with night-watchman Kuldeep Yadav (1*) as India finished day one on 326/5. Mark Wood has picked up three scalps for the English side. The second new ball is just three overs old and the visitors will look to make full use of it early on day two. Jadeja looked solid at the crease on day one and will be looking to go big and score a daddy hundred today. The English side meanwhile will be looking to pull back things by picking regular wickets on day two. his brings 3000 runs Jadeja in Test cricket. the pads on a fuller length Ravindra Jadeja waits flicks it through deep mid-wicket for a boundary. Vikram Rathour (India batting coach): "There were a few jitters with the scoreboard reading 33/3. I won't be lying. But that can happen on the first day on a fresh wicket. A couple of good balls. So yeah there were a few jitters but the way two pros batted it was really good to see. The dropped players do understand that the team management is really backing the players and giving them enough opportunities. But we have to go with what the team needs at certain times. In case of Axar that was the real case. But on this surface we thought we needed a wrist spinner who can turn the ball a little more. Bharat is a tough one actually. He is being doing well. He got a few opportunities but really couldn't convert those starts. I thought the team management decided to go with some change. We always knew that Sarfaraz can play spin well. But it was good to see him do that on this occasion and this stage." Pitch Report (Deep Dasgupta and Nick Knight): Deep Dasgupta: "As observed yesterday there is nothing for the bowlers apart from the first hour or so. Good pitch to bat on. What we have one day two I have got Nick Knight here with me. Nick what's your assessment for day two?" Nick Knight: "Well not different from what we saw yesterday. The only difference I see is that the cracks are a bit larger here. It's dried out. There is enough in the pitch to hold it together and it will be another good day for batting. Jadeja breaches the 100 finally! A sensational innings from the southpaw at his home ground. It's essentially a good pitch to bat on. But with cracks this big and they are opening up there will be an odd ball that will misbehave. A lot of the English bowlers bowled round the wicket yesterday so there is a rough there for maybe Ashwin to bowl into. But even if we talk a lot about it it's still a good pitch to bat on." India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20 Live Scores This Match Will be Played at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru on 17th January 2024 This Match Will Start at 7.00pm From Indian Standard time. India has already clinched the series 2-0 and has outplayed the tourists prodigiously. But this time it's the youngsters who have stepped up and performed. The two southpaws Jaiswal and Shivam Dube batted with lightning speed at Indore and struck some mesmerizing strokes taking the Afghan spinners to the cleaners and smoking the ball out of the park. Also the two happen to be the leading run-scorers in the series by far. The crowd roared at its pinnacle as they got to witness Virat Kohli after a long wait in the shortest format. Though stay at the crease was not long enough did play some eye-catching shots upfront marked statement. India chased down target of 173. During period Kohli highly-anticipated 71st international century against Afghanistan Asia Cup. Quite comfortably with around four overs to spare and didn't give Afghanistan any breathing space. Indian bowlers too stepped up and picked crucial timely wickets and will aim to continue the same further. As for the visitors Gulbadin Naib looked attacking but he was stranded alone. Afghan spinners were pretty expensive as they were the victims of the Dube-Jaiswal onslaught. The void of Rashid Khan's experience is being felt by the Afghans. Now coming into the third and final game Afghanistan will look to finish the series on a consolation and keep their spirits higher. Given that Chinnaswamy is a relatively smaller ground boundary scoring is anticipated to be abundant and a treat for the batters. We can also expect to see a few changes in both teams as they might want to test the bench strength too. India has the opportunity to whitewash. Afghanistan and would aim to continue the brute force with the bat as this is their final T20I game before entering into the T20 World Cup in June later this year so they will definitely bring their A-game. Will India sweep the series or will Afghanistan prevent the whitewash? A win would be nice is how Trott started off his press conference on Tuesday January 16 in Bengaluru. His team already lost the series but there's a lot to play insisted former England batter. His words revered gospel within confines. Since 2022 Virat scored 781 runs 20 T20I innings a strike rate of 138.23. The Afghanistan dressing room as led them to a highly impressive ODI World Cup campaign just a few months ago. For Afghanistan to repeat that in the T20 version in June the head coach already knows what they need to fine tune collectively. And the Bengaluru game could yet be used as a starting point before. They play Sri Lanka in February and Ireland in March. For India this is the last T20I before World Cup but that's barely significant for what's to follow between now the marquee event in June. Four days the third T20I nearly half of this squad will be in Hyderabad for the start of a five-Test series against. England that will go on till the second week of March. The next big indicator for the World Cup selection will be the two months that follow with the IPL. Between Rohit Sharma getting his first runs of the series Virat Kohli showing intent and Arshdeep trying out a new leg-cutter to the left-handers. Wednesday's game India could thus boil down individual context rather than collective. Since 2017 pacers have picked 32 wickets and spinners 15. The last fixture here however saw Axar Ravi dictate terms India successfully defended 160. the same period Gurbaz has 653 runs in 28 innings at a strike rate of 136.89. He has a century to his name. Throughout the week leading up to the fight, Chris Colbert expressed himself boldly, and when it came time to step into the ring, he lived up to every statement. The confident fighter from Brooklyn is continuously evolving in the junior lightweight division, as demonstrated in his impressive performance against Mongolia's Tugstsogt Nyambayar. Colbert skillfully outclassed the 2012 Olympic Silver medalist and former featherweight title challenger, securing a decisive unanimous decision victory on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Judges Carla Caiz (118-110), Fernando Villarreal (118-110), and Zachary Young (117-111) all gave unanimous scores in favor of Colbert during the Showtime-televised main event. Nyambayar took the fight on short notice, transitioning from featherweight to replace the injured Yuriorkis Gamboa. Despite Nyambayar's aggressive start, Colbert adapted quickly, using a purposeful jab effectively throughout the first round. Colbert acknowledged Nyambayar's power, stating to Showtime's Jim Grey after the fight, "He carried power for a 126-pounder. Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit. I had to use my Muhammad Ali tactics and float like a butterfly and sting like a bee." The action remained intense in the second round, with Colbert switching between orthodox and southpaw stances. A right hand from Nyambayar caught Colbert during the southpaw stance, but Colbert regained control in subsequent rounds. Despite clashes of heads in rounds four and five, Colbert maintained dominance, utilizing a sharp jab and scoring with precise right hands. Throughout the fight, Colbert's jab continued to be a potent weapon, landing over 10 times per round. Although Nyambayar showed purpose in the first half of the match, Colbert's hand speed and flurries overwhelmed his opponent, leading to a one-sided tenth round. Despite Nyambayar's efforts in the eleventh round, Colbert maintained a strategic approach, securing the win without taking unnecessary risks. With this victory, Colbert's record improves to 16-0 (6KOs). The 24-year-old Brooklynite showcased impressive stats, nearly doubling Nyambayar in total punch output, landing 218-of-662 total punches (33%), including 112-of-421 jabs (27%). Colbert credited his jab, saying, "The jab will set you free, and it got me free a number of times." #shorts #shrotsvideo #shortsyoutube #boxing #boxingvideos #boxingnews #boxingday #boxingworkout #boxinglife #sportsnews #actionsports #combat #combatsports #highlights #sporthighlights #action #punch #punching #fight #fighting #benavidez #benavidezplant #knockoutpower #middleweight #davidbenavidez #mexican #americansports #jermallcharlo #supermiddleweight #boxingmatch #boxingfight
David “El Monstruo” Benavídez lived up to his nickname and billings as perhaps the sport’s most destructive offensive weapon as he defended his Interim WBC Super Middleweight Title and blitzed former two-division champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade with a stoppage after the sixth round in the SHOWTIME PPV main event Saturday night headlining a Premier Boxing Champions event from Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The ending came after Andrade’s trainer wouldn’t allow their charge to leave the corner to start the seventh round after Benavidez, fighting his first southpaw in seven years, bloodied and pounded Andrade in perhaps the signature performance of his career. Benavídez (28-0, 24 KOs) remained undefeated as Andrade (32-1, 19 KOs) suffered his first loss. “I think I just solidified myself as a dominant force here,” Benavídez said. “I just reminded everyone who the real champion at 168 is. Who wants to see me versus Canelo? I'm going to be super middleweight champion of the world, three-time world champion. Now just give me the fight that we all want to see. Who wants to see Benavídez versus Canelo?” Benavídez punctuated his performance with an embrace of Mike Tyson outside the ring following the stoppage. Tyson famously dubbed Benavídez the “Mexican Monster.” "I just told Mike Tyson that I love him and thank you so much for the motivation he's given me,” Benavídez said. “It's not every day a boxing legend like Mike Tyson gives people nicknames, so I just want to live up to my name. “Everybody says I'm not this, I'm not that, I'm flat-footed, I have no defense. This guy probably applied one of the best defenses. He's really good offensively. He could barely even hit me, so I think that says a lot on its own. I just have to keep beating who they put in front of me. I'm the best. I'm going to be the best. I'm going to be a legend by the time I'm done, so whoever you keep putting in front of me, I'll keep knocking them down. "Let's give the people what they want to see. They want to see Benavídez versus Canelo." Just as he did against Caleb Plant in March, Benavídez grew stronger and more dangerous as the fight wore on. After Andrade held his own in the opening rounds, Benavídez broke down his 35-year-old opponent with breathtaking efficiently. A looping right hand from Benavídez to the side of the head dropped Andrade for the third time in his career with seconds left in the fourth round. Andrade crumpled to the canvas and rose on shaky legs to survive the round. Benavídez hurt Andrade again with a left to start the fifth round as he continued to walk Andrade down and land hard punches. Andrade’s right eye started to close midway through the frame as Benavídez teed off on his 35-year-old opponent with a right uppercut and an assortment of short, stinging punches. Andrade took a stand with a minute left in the sixth, uncorking a right uppercut but Benavidez hurt Andrade, a former 2008 U.S. Olympian, with left that had him stumbling across the ring. It was a far cry from the start of the fight when Andrade was able to smother Benavídez’s punches, darting in and out and winging shots from odd angles that found their mark. Andrade looked sensational in the first two rounds, while Benavídez bided his time, carefully picking his shots. Andrade started to slow down in the third, allowing Benavídez to unload his brand of destructive, compact punches before the knockdown turned the tide in Benavídez’s favor. “I’ll be back – back to the drawing board,” Andrade said. “I moved up in weight classes. I’ll work on my body a little more and I’ll be right back at it. I thought overall I did everything I needed to do to get the bigger man off me. David's definitely a hell of a fighter. Nobody was even willing to get in the ring with him. I tried to become a three-division world champion. That's not far-fetched. David was the man tonight. Benavídez is the bigger man.” #BenavidezAndrade #DavidBenavidez #DemetriusAndrade Visit PremierBoxingChampions.com for more info.
