VAR RUINS FOOTBALL YET AGAIN | Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Sheffield United - Match Reaction
Tottenham Hotspur produced yet another limp Premier League display as they stumbled to a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United that was marred by more VAR drama. Spurs have endured a miserable start to their league campaign and it got no better against the Blades after Son Heung-min’s opener was cancelled out by George Baldock. Baldock’s 78th-minute strike was the second time United had got the ball in the back of the net, but VAR scrubbed off the first after John Lundstram’s toe was ruled to be offside after a lengthy decision-making process. It would not have been unjust if Chris Wilder’s men – still unbeaten away from home this term – had left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points as they created the better chances.

But this season has shown us that perhaps he is getting old. The real question is, Is LeBron James getting worse? If we look at just the stats, LeBron might not look any different. He averaged 27.5 points per game, 9 assists (9.1), and 8.6 rebounds last season. This season he’s averaging 27.5 points, 8 assists and 8.5 rebounds only shooting 3% less from 3 and 3% less from the field. And that’s why stats can be deceiving because just looking at LeBron, something is obviously wrong. He’s the third slowest moving player on defense behind Dirk who is a national treasure at this point, and James Harden who has cleaned up his act, but is questionable on defense. He got blocked by Mario Henzoja for the game. He got blocked by a scrub. The point is even with all the problems this year, LeBron is still one of the great and his possible decline shouldn’t be encouraged so let’s break all this down. And to all those that subscribed, thanks, but now somehow 93% of y’all not subscribed. Most of you tell me you thought you were subscribed, and kinda like LeBron thought the Knicks and Lakers aren’t different, that’s wrong. We’re trying to get that 7% higher than Lonzo’s free throw percentage. So please subscribe. LeBron James has been so good for so long. And even this season, he’s still one of the best players in the world. But last season, there was debate on whether LeBron was somehow getting better in his 15th season with a not so great roster because he averaged a career high in assists while still averaging 27. And then in the playoffs, LeBron also went bonkers, hitting game winners, making Toronto, LeBronto. He made them his bi----. He averaged 34, 9, and 9 in the playoffs. The Cavs went 50-32 with LeBron playing all 82 games at the age of 33 playing the most minutes in the NBA and went through the Eastern Conference to make the playoffs. His usage rate was 30.6 last season and this season is 30.8, but this season since his playoff mode has been activated, more and more things have went wrong. The Lakers were 28-29 when LeBron said his playoff mode activated and now are sitting at 31-39 meaning 3-10 since playoff mode activated, losing games to the Hawks, Suns, Grizzlies, and the Knicks during this span, all games that are inexcusable, especially for playoff LeBron. He hasn’t been able to lead his team in the clutch either. 7 of those games were decided in the clutch with the Lakers going 2-5 and LeBron bricking free throws shooting 57% from the line in the clutch during those 7 games. LeBron’s shooting 68% from the free throw line and shooting 45% from the field in the clutch which is less than the 55% from the field in the clutch he shot last season. The Cavs were also 30-15 in the clutch last season. He’s driving less and less to the basket in the clutch because he’s not making free throws. Even his finishing seems less prolific. While LeBron is driving to the rim almost as much as last year, he is only shooting 54% on the drive versus 60% last season. It’s not too major but it definitely is not LeBron from last year, not the LeBron that can just consistently carry a team to victory. LeBron only has 4.6 offensive win shares this season which is his lowest since his rookie season. Last season, he had 11 offensive win shares. The best version of LeBron in the regular season was the Miami Heat LeBron, the LeBron that was at the peak of his athleticism and energy levels. He had 14.6 offensive win shares in 2012. LeBron James was ranked 491st in defensive rating last season along with 321st in defensive win shares. Yeah LeBron was not good defensively. He was horrible. But it was an effort issue. He was taking possessions off and just not really trying. He’s 255th in defensive rating this year and 41st in defensive win shares, more than doubling his win shares from last season, but these stats don’t tell the whole truth. LeBron is barely moving laterally on defense. He fails to switch, fails to rotate, or provide help defense, but he was doing that last season too. He’s not the Miami Heat LeBron that could spend energy on both ends even if defense is winning basketball. The mistakes on defense are more compounded because he’s in LA and because the Lakers are losing so much, every little thing is scrutinized. LeBron in the playoffs ends up providing more on-ball defense in crucial spurts, but even last year’s playoffs didn’t show too much defense. It definitely wasn’t this horrid defense that he’s shown the past two seasons and wasn’t a liability on that end.
Tristan Thompson 16 Points Full Highlights (11/26/2018)
I would like to use this description box to issue an apology to Tristan Thompson and all fans of Tristan Thompson (I'm not sure you exist, but I'm not taking any chances here). In the two games prior to this, Thompson scored 18 and 16 points respectively, but the DownToBuck YouTube channel was strangely, and maybe even auspiciously, silent on the matter. This was because I lost track of Thompson during my extended highlight-making sessions, only to remember him after I had shut down my operation for the day. His mediocre performances were washed away in a sea of similarly mediocre performances performed by scrubs who I hold closer to my heart. Getting a chance to publicly issue this apology is the only reason I made this video, because Thompson as a scorer is not very much fun to watch. Sometimes he dunks but even his dunks are lame. Otherwise, he's a layup ("lame-up") machine. In fact, I can't even promise that I will continue to make Thompson videos unless he ups his scoring output. That's actually another reason I made this video: so I could clear the air regarding Thompson and his expected point totals. Sixteen is definitely in the "iffy" category. Eighteen is better, but still not a guarantee. If Thompson wants to ensure that a video gets made, he has to score at least twenty, and he can't hit too many free throws because those, like everything else he does, are lame too. Michael Jordan has a fair share of trash talking stories just because he was a competitor to his core, but this one might have had the most impact on the other player. Let’s set the scene. It’s Game 5 in the 1st round of the 1995 NBA Playoffs. The series is between the Bulls and Hornets and it’s 2-1. Yeah 1995 is the year Jordan wore 45 and played like a 45 year old. (Im just joking). Even with MJ not being at his best, that didn’t mean that he didn’t scare the living crap out of his opponents. The Bulls with MJ were intimidating and so the Hornets with Alonzo Mourning, Larry Johnson, David Wingate, and Muggsy Bogues, (*cough, I said Muggsy Bogues) sorry about that the camera was pointed too high, that Hornets team was giving the Bulls problems. Jordan was killing the Hornets in the series. He had scored 48 in the first game and 32 in the second. The first round was best of 5 and not 7 in 1995 and so this 4th game was do or die for the Hornets. It was in Chicago and the game was tight all the way through. You remember how I mentioned Muggsy Bogues? Muggsy Bogues is the shortest player in NBA history standing in at 5’ 3”. 5’ 3” my guy, I’m not gonna do any short jokes, that’s a hard life being that height and playing the NBA, like seriously props to Muggsy Bogues. With that height obviously came a lot of taunting from opponents and teammates and so Bogues was used to that. In fact, for the past 3 seasons, Bogues had averaged over 10 points per game and over 9 assists per game. He wasn’t just some scrub and he had carved out a nice career for himself. So why do I mention all this? Jordan and Pippen were carrying the Bulls. The game is tied late in the 4th quarter. Now this story gets blown out of proportion all the time so I’m gonna tell how it is. Michael Jordan flew up in the air into space, came back down to earth, went to Muggsy Bogues and told him he sucks. This is what happens when you work till 3 Am. (beep). So what really happened was that there were 4 and a half minutes, game tied at 76. Muggsy Bogues gets the ball and in this grinded out game, every basket counts. And so MJ switches on to Bogues but instead of guarding him tight, he sort of backs off, but while backing off, Michael Jordan said one sentence and this one sentence would go on to change Bogues forever. Jordan told Bogues, “Shoot it, you motherf***ing midget.” Damn. Now Bogues is used to the insults, but coming from a guy like MJ is a whole new ballpark and so when Muggsy shot that, he had no confidence and bricked it. The Bulls would go on to win the game and the series, but just that one sentence, that one sentence would do a lot to Muggsy Bogues. For the remaining of his career, Muggsy would never average double digit points or over 8 assists per game. In fact, he would average 5.9 points and 5 assists per game for the remaining 8 seasons. It was a huge drop off from averaging 8 assists and over 10 points per game. But don’t take it from me, I’m just some random YouTuber saying it. Take it from Muggsy Bogues himself. Muggsy told his coach that one single play ruined his career and that his confidence just never came back. Damn, what would have happened if Jordan spit one more sentence, would Bogues have retired on the spot? Ok that was also a bad joke, I’m just gonna keep going. Michael Jordan was so dominating that he legit just made a guy question his own skill for the rest of his career with one sentence. I don’t know about you but that just blows my mind. MJ wasn’t even close to being prime MJ and he did all that with 5 words. Wait is motherf***ing one word or 2 words? Let’s just say 1. He did that with 5 words. I know Muggsy Bogues wasn’t the best of the best or anything but he still was an NBA veteran at that point and so yeah, Michael Jordan DESTROYED this player’s career with one sentence.
