Brazil very convincingly dominated Poland in the final of the 2021 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League to win the trophy for the very first time. Here's the reaction after the game, from the virtual Mixed Zone: Bartosz Kurek (Poland): "I was very surprised, but I think that the Most Valuable Player should be only a player of the winning team, so I really don't consider myself that way. Congrats to Brazil and Wallace - amazing player, amazing team. I hope that we are going to meet in the final this season again in another competition and hopefully then we will be a little bit better opponent and hopefully we can get a win then. I think they played amazing in passing, they kept all our hard serves up, they finished every ball after. In the third and fourth set our efficiency in spike dropped and we couldn't find our game. It's a lesson, painful lesson, but hopefully we can get something good out of it." Bruno Rezende (Brazil): "It's amazing. This month was so tough for us to be focused and to be in the bubble - it was something new for everybody. It was a really high-level tournament, but our team deserved it. We have 18 players and staff who every day give 100% of their dedication and that's the main thing of this team. We hope that we make people in Brazil proud of us. Now we have three days of rest and we start to think about Tokyo." Wallace De Souza (Brazil): "I'm very happy, but I'm a part of the team and I am just happy to contribute and do my job for the team. It's the first time for us to win the VNL, so it makes me even happier. We served very well and our pass worked very well, even if Poland served strong - it was a key to success. But also, we didn't make too many own mistakes and it was also very important." The 2021 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League was originally to be the third edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League, an annual men's international volleyball tournament. 2021 version of VNL originally was scheduled to start earlier than the previous edition due to the 2020 Summer Olympics in July. The preliminary round was scheduled to be held in five weeks between May 28 and June 23, 2021. The final round was scheduled to be held during June 26 to 27, 2021. ►► Subscribe NOW & hit the bell! 🔔: https://go.volleyball.world/Subscribe... ▶▶ Watch ALL the Volleyball action https://go.volleyball.world/TV?ytv=d FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA 📱 Instagram: https://go.volleyball.world/Instagram... LEGENDARY MATCH | Brazil vs Poland | GOLD Medal Match | Men's VNL 2021. Brazil very convincingly dominated Poland in the final of the 2021 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League to win the trophy for the very first time. Brazil struck gold at the 2021 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League, coming back from a set down to beat rivals Poland in four 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-14) as the competition wound down on Sunday at Italy's Adriatic resort of Rimini. A brilliant scoring performance by Wallace de Souza who bagged 22 points after attacking for 58% (18/31) and adding three blocks and an ace was key to Brazil's convincing win that boosts the confidence of the South Americans who next head out to defend their Olympic title at Tokyo. Brazil overpowered Poland in both blocking (9-7) and serving (6-3), but in the end it was their attacking efficiency that made the difference: 52% (54/102) to 44% (44/101). Poland made a break to turn a 5-6 deficit into an 8-6 advantage after a great dig by Kurek followed by a kill by Michal Kubiak plus an attack gone long by Lucas Saatkamp. Poland carried the lead into the second technical time out, but immediately after that back-to-back kills by Wallace de Souza brought Brazil level again. But then Wilfredo Leon rotated to serve, sending a direct ace on libero Thales Hoss, and Kubiak blocked Wallace in the very next rally taking Poland to 23-20. All they had to do was sideout twice (on kills by Kurek) and the set was theirs. Brazil reacted quickly and opened up a three-point lead by the first technical timeout of the second set. The Olympic champions built on that to extend it to four by the second technical timeout with an ace by Mauricio Souza on libero Pawel Zatorski. A series of great digs by Fabian Drzyzga, Mateusz Bieniek and Leon, with kills by Kubiak and Kurek turned the set into a rollercoaster, tying the score at 18-18. Douglas Souza was called in to replace Wallace - just for one point - putting an end to Poland's five-point run with a kill for the sideout, as Brazil recovered and once again shot off to a three-point lead for 21-18. They kept Poland at bay and reached set point with two to spare - Leon sending the last on the net. By now, Brazil had built momentum. They went into the first technical timeout of the third set with a lead of two and never looked back, gradually widening the gap to stop at an impressive +9 as Mauricio blocked the Poles three times and Wallace got six kills from nine swings in this set alone. Poland seemed spent as they went into the fourth and Brazil were already on a roll, taking the very first point and never once falling behind as they continued to extend their lead. A 7-1 run from 15-12 brought Brazil beyond the reach of Poland - and by then it was just procedural. Brazil got a sideout for their 23rd point when Kubiak served on the net, Lucas Saatkamp served an ace on Leon and Bruno Rezende made the final dig before, very fittingly, Wallace delivered the last kill. It was Brazil's first medal in the history of the VNL, after twice losing in the bronze medal match. For Poland it is their second medal, after their bronze in 2019 when they beat Brazil in the third-place playoff. Earlier on Sunday France had snatched the bronze medal with a sweep of Slovenia. Bruno Rezende (Brazil): "It's amazing. Poland had to work hard to earn their place in Sunday's final of the 2021 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League as they shut out rookies Slovenia 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-23) in Saturday's second semifinal at Italy's Adriatic resort of Rimini. This sets up a clash between the reigning world champions Poland and Olympic champions Brazil who had earlier shut out France in the first semifinal. Bartosz Kurek with a killing efficiency of 61% (14/23) and an overall match high of 17 points was instrumental to Poland's win. Slovenia struggled to cope with the intense blocking of their opponents which yielded 14 points (four by Fabian Drzyzga, three each by Kurek and Piotr Nowakowski). A very rare break point on a block by Michal Kubiak on Toncek Stern had given Poland a two-point lead midway through the first set. But T. Stern quickly redeemed himself with back-to-back aces on Wilfredo Leon taking Slovenia ahead 14-13 forcing coach Vital Heynen to take his first timeout. A further point on a kill by Klemen Cebulj after a dig by T. Stern immediately brought Slovenia two up - but they couldn't carry it into the twenties. Back-to-back blocks by Fabian Drzyzga on Cebulj from the right and by Nowakowski on T. Stern from the left, plus a series of attacks sent wide by the Slovenians sealed the deal for Poland. Slovenia, however, were not throwing in the towel quite yet. As Heynen starting the second with Nowakowski in place of Jakub Kochanowski, Slovenia quickly opened with a three-point lead extending this to four on a ace by T. Stern on Kubiak by the first technical timeout. A 4-1 run by Poland took care of that to draw level at 9-9 and the two teams mostly exchanged sideouts until an ace by Leon on Jani Kovacic saw Poland into the second technical timeout two points ahead. An ace by Drzyzga on Cebulj made it four by 20-16 and Poland just held on till the end of the set. It remained tight into the third, Poland just ahead by two at the second technical timeout and Slovenia keeping up, until an ace by Mateusz Bieniek on Tine Urnaut made it three. Poland continued to sideout as necessary to close the match, rather unceremoniously as Mitja Gasparini sent the last serve on the net. It is the first ever appearance in a VNL final for both Poland and Brazil. The two had met in the bronze medal match of the 2019 edition with Poland eventually making it on the podium. VNL rookies Slovenia will meet France in Sunday's bronze medal match, prior to the final.

They won this game, because they played very well. We expected that they could play like this, they showed a big quality today and our game was not enough to win this match. We need to forget today, for sure we will think a little bit about it, but tomorrow in the morning we have a game against France for 3rd place and it's very important for us. We have to prepare for this game and play tomorrow for victory." Michal Kubiak (Poland): "We are happy that we won this game. That's it for today. We are focusing on tomorrow's game, which is the final. Keeping everybody in rhythm and playing from the beginning until the end focused and trying to fight for every ball. There was no additional motivation, we always try to win against everybody and we go on the court with the same mentality, trying to play as good as we can and today we showed that even playing not really good we can win." ►► Subscribe NOW & hit the bell! 🔔: https://go.volleyball.world/Subscribe... ▶▶ Watch ALL the Volleyball action https://go.volleyball.world/TV?ytv=d FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA 📱 Instagram: https://go.volleyball.world/Instagram... Here's the reaction after the game, from the virtual Mixed Zone: Federico Pereyra (Argentina): "It's not easy to play against Poland. They are one of the best teams in the world. We couldn't equal their level in attack and that was key. They played much better today." Fabian Drzyzga (Poland): "I think that our team struggled with some problems in block-defence during the entire game, but we had good transition and it's why we won the game. Also our solid play from the beginning until the end was important, there were no ups and downs, only block-defence could be better, but this is volleyball and sometimes not everything is perfect." ►► Subscribe NOW & hit the bell! 🔔: https://go.volleyball.world/Subscribe... ▶▶ Watch ALL the Volleyball action https://go.volleyball.world/TV?ytv=d FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA 📱 Instagram: https://go.volleyball.world/Instagram...
