Three weeks on from McLaren’s bombshell announcement that Daniel Ricciardo will be dropped at the end of the season despite having a contract for 2023, the eight-times grand prix winner is still without a job for next year. But could Ricciardo take a role Lewis Hamilton says he is too good for? That’s a question Ricciardo must ask himself as he considers whether to pursue a path usually taken by those at the start of their Formula 1 career and take a reserve driver role? It’s hard to imagine a driver who has been an F1 star for the past decade being willing to sit on the sidelines and it’s unlikely Ricciardo would see himself doing that. Unless, that is, it’s with a team that might just offer him a pathway back to the front of the F1 grid. Our verdict on the Red Bull AlphaTauri Dutch GP F1 conspiracy theory
Mercedes found itself in the thick of a fight for victory properly for the first time in 2022 at the Dutch Grand Prix, and almost inevitably that resulted in a Red Bull-related controversy flying around after the race. Mercedes’ gamble on a one-stop strategy at Zandvoort was on course to leave Lewis Hamilton in the lead of the race after Max Verstappen’s second scheduled pitstop. But Verstappen was able to retain the lead thanks to a well-timed virtual safety car period, which was called when Yuki Tsunoda’s AlphaTauri stopped on track for a second time. Sprich schmale Streifen (vllt einen Meter) Kies, Erde, Rasen oder sonstige Materialien die dafür sorgen dass die Fahrer sich für die nächsten Kurven die Reifen schmutzig machen bzw. bei mehrmaligen verlassen der Strecken diese auch dauerhaft kaputt machen? Diese Streifen würden auch nicht tief angelegt werden, sodass sich dort im Falle eines Überschlags auch kein Auto eingraben könnte. Warum tut sich die F1 da so schwer? Gerade Mugello hat gezeigt dass nichts besser ist als natürlich-klassische Strecken mit eben diesen Kiesbetten oder Rasenflächen.
