Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will go up against each other on Tuesday (January 16) in the second T20I of the three-match series in Colombo. The first T20I was a nail-biting thriller in which Sri Lanka eventually won by three wickets. Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza had an outing to remember last time when the two sides met at the same venue. Coming to bat at No. 4 Raza slammed 62 off 42 balls laced with five fours and two sixes to take his side to 143/5. Then he had a dream spell with the ball claiming 3/13 although it all went in vain. Coupled with Dasun Shanaka’s unbeaten 18-ball 26 Sri Lanka rode on Angelo Mathews’ 38-ball 46 to get the job done on the last ball of the contest. Wanindu Hasaranga as expected lived up to his lofty expectations whereas Maheesh Theekshana took two crucial wickets as well. With 14 runs to win off the last over Dushmantha Chameera held his nerves to take his team home. He scored 62 runs off 42 balls with five fours and two sixes after which he finished with figures of 4-0-13-3. Angelo Mathews who made his comeback in T20Is after almost three years won the Player of the Match award. He scored 46 runs off 38 balls under pressure with the help of five fours and a six. India's spirits are soaring sky-high after a stellar performance in Mohali led by Shivam Dube's scintillating 60 off 40 in the run chase and a crucial wicket in the first inning. Youngster Jitesh Sharma too added fireworks with the bat and stabilized the middle order and Rinku Singh helped India chase 158 and with Virat Kohli back in the pack for the rest of the series the team looks rock-solid and much more assured. Afghanistan though posted a decent total last time thanks to the ‘President’ Mohammad Nabi’s fantastic knock down the order. However the tourists missed the magic of Rashid Khan due to a back injury and that huge void was indeed felt. The hosts clinched the victory and now India’s eyes are set on sealing the series in Indore. The anticipation is through the roof and we're in for another exciting showdown! Also the good news for all the staunch cricket enthusiasts is that the two greats of the sport. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be together seen donning the Blues in the shortest format for the first time since the T20 World Cup 2022 Semi-Final. It is now time for the 2nd T20I between India and Afghanistan at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. India are already 1-0 up in the three-game series and will look to seal the series right away. It was a very chilly evening in Mohali last time around and on a stellar batting track Afghanistan put on a decent total which was well below par. The dynamic duo of Ibrahim Zadran and Gurbaz up top did get runs under. Their belt but neither looked convincing enough. Rohit Sharma the skipper of India says there's no particular reason to bowl first and that it's just the nature of the ground. He says that it's a chasing ground with pretty small boundaries. He's happy with the previous game and says that the guys are executing the plans being spoken to them. Says that they have asked for specific roles for the guys and they are doing accordingly so far. not much they don't have any baggage and it is all about backing them allowing them to be free on the ground. He says that they will do things keeping the World Cup in mind but adds that they they know results are also important. Further adds that they want to try out a few things but the end result also matters a lot and winning is more important than anything. There's a huge roar in the crowd as he says Virat Kohli is in the XI with Yashasvi Jaiswal in place of Tilak Varma and Shubman Gill. Ibrahim Zadran the captain of Afghanistan says that they will try to bat well and put a good score on the board. Adds that they also wanted to bowl first due to the conditions and the ground being a small one. Tells that they made some mistakes in the last game and they have discussed about it and will look to execute their plans better. Says that Rahmat Shah is not playing and Noor Ahmad comes in for him. Ends by saying that playing an extra spinner is a tactical decision considering the ground conditions. PITCH REPORT: Deep Dasgupta and Nick Knight are pitch side. Nick Knight says that it's pretty much flat and traditionally a very high-scoring venue and obviously the smaller boundaries are one of the reasons. Adds that the surface is really flat and cracks are firm. Adds that there won't be any turn maybe a bit of a little movement initially with the new ball. He says that the team who wins would look to bat under the lights and with the dew coming batting first will have an additional advantage. India won the toss and elected to bowl first. In the first full assignment of 2024 the Men in Blue welcome Afghanistan for a three-match T20I series. The Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium Mohali will host the series opener on Thursday (January 11). Adding full stop all the questions rumours the Indian fans are over the moon see Rohit T20I captain return along with the run-machine Kohli in the squad. However the Head Coach Rahul Dravid has confirmed that Kohli will miss the opening T20I due to personal reasons. India's very own Mr 360 Suryakumar Yadav who led the side in South Africa drew the three-match series 1-1 will miss this series and the entire domestic season due to an ankle injury following which he was diagnosed with sports hernia for which the stylish right-hander will soon undergo surgery. Hardik Pandya who is deemed as India's future captain has been in the headlines for the recent trade with Mumbai Indians (MI) and being named as the franchise's skipper for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) Season despite MI retaining Rohit Sharma will miss this series as the star all-rounder continues his recovery from an ankle injury he sustained in the ODI World Cup 2023. In addition to these the management has decided to rest Ravindra Jadeja Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj while Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan miss out as well. Hitman Rohit will be opening with young dasher Yashasvi Jaiswal with Ruturaj Gaikwad (finger injury) missing out. In the absence of Kohli Shubman Gill is the next best fit for the most important number three position. Tilak Varma Sanju Samson who is back in the T20I set-up after a long time and Rinku Singh will take care of the middle order. Samson's inclusion means Jitesh Sharma might not feature despite impressive performances recently. Arshdeep Singh Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar are the preferred three-man seam attack. Either Kuldeep Yadav or Ravi Bishnoi will partner with Axar Patel in the spin department. In what was a big blow to the tourists Rashid Khan the regular T20I skipper of Afghanistan who travelled with the squad to India has been ruled out of the series after failing to prove his fitness on the eve of the opening game. Rashid missed the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) due to lower-back surgery and also missed the recently concluded three-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Ibrahim Zadran will lead the Afghan Atalans for the second consecutive series with a 2-1 win against UAE in the recently concluded assignment being the first. Mujeeb Ur Rahman after being rusticated from the Melbourne Renegades squad after a few games due to the cancellation of NOCs by the Afghanistan Cricket Board is back in the camp and will hold the key for the visitors in the absence of Rashid. Noor Ahmad Qais Ahmad Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq are the rest of the known faces in the bowling department with the experienced Mohammad Nabi Karim Janat Azmatullah Omarzai and Gulbadin Naib are the all-rounders. Rahmat Shah Rahmanullah Gurbaz Najibullah Zadran and Zazai are the top batters who have been putting consistent performances for the touring party. Afghanistan in pursuit of its first win against India will come hard at the hosts with healthy IPL experience on its back. Can they spring a surprise on India and hinder their final leg of World Cup preparations? Rohit is set to join Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order. And with Kohli unavailable in Mohali Shubman will take the No.3 spot. Samson might take the gloves after his century show in South Africa. Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe 3rd ODI Live Scores | SL vs ZIM 3rd ODI Live Scores & Commentary
Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe 3rd ODI Live Scores | SL vs ZIM 3rd ODI Live Scores & Commentary

We are set for the final game of the three-match ODI series between the hosts Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka were stretched quite hard in the second ODI and managed to just get over the line and Zimbabwe would be hoping to win those crucial little moments in this game and level the series to gain some much-needed confidence ahead of the T20I series. The hosts Sri Lanka won't be happy with their performance especially with the bat in this series. Their batters have been guilty of throwing away their starts and it was Liyanage who with his 95 displayed some lone warrior skills in the last game. In the first match it was Asalanka who bailed them out with a fantastic century. However they need their top order to fire and the likes of Kusal Mendis Samarawickrama and Avishka will be itching to get a big score. Hasaranga is still doubtful and Sri Lanka might just rest him and keep their T20I captain fresh for that series. Dilshan Madushanka has bowled beautifully while Theekshana bamboozled Zimbabwe batters with his crafty tweakers in the last game. We can expect them to sizzle again with the ball. Zimbabwe on the other hand have been good with the ball too. They almost made the match out of their below-par total of 208 but need to bat better. They have been heavily depended on few players like Craig Ervine Sikandar Raza. Ryan Burl and even Sean Williams who is not present in this series and it is high time that other players start contributing. Gumbie looked well in his 37-ball stay in the last game while Ervine batted brilliantly for his 82. Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl have not yet lived up to their billing with the bat and if these seniors and couple of youngsters can fire in unison we might see Zimbabwe coming out on top. Richard Ngarava has been brilliant so far in this series and picked up a five-wicket haul in this game while other pacers like Muzarabani and Faraz Akram have also bowled well. Can Zimbabwe get their act together and level the series? The third and final game of the ODI series between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will be played on Thursday. This high-octane clash will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pitch Report R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo offers equal assistance to the batters and the bowlers. The batters will have to spend some time in the middle before they can start taking down the bowling attack. The spinners will get plenty of assistance from the surface. Greetings cricket enthusiasts and a hearty welcome to the live coverage of the inaugural One Day International (ODI) in the thrilling 3-Match ODI Series. The battleground is set at the iconic R.Premadasa Stadium 🏟️ in the vibrant city of Colombo where the hosts Sri Lanka are poised to engage in a fierce cricketing showdown against Zimbabwe. Time for some 50-over action again as Sri Lanka get ready to host Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series. Zimbabwe could not qualify for the World Cup in India in 2023 and have recently missed out from the T20 World Cup as well. So that would be surely hurting them and this is a great opportunity for them to make a statement against a team like Sri Lanka. The Lankans had a disappointing 2023 World Cup and they are starting afresh with Kusal Mendis appointed as a full-time ODI captain in place of Dasun Shanaka. So both teams have lot to gain from this series and it would be an interesting contest when two teams walk out at R. Premadasa for the first ODI. The home team Sri Lanka will be without Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga. The star leg-spinner is yet to recover fully but is likely to be fit only for the final game of the series. Nissanka will miss out due to Dengue and has been replaced by young Shevon Daniel. He might not make it to the XI though as Nuwanidu Fernando is likely to open alongside another comeback man Avishka Fernando. Both are talented batters and with likes of Sadeera Samarawickrama Charith Asalanka and captain Mendis forming a strong middle order Sri Lanka would be looking to deliver strong performances with the bat. However the focus will be on Dasun Shanaka who has been removed as captain has been under criticism lately for his inconsistent performances. On the bowling front Akila Dananjaya has made his comeback into the national side but he might miss the cut in the XI with presence of Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage in the squad. Dushmantha Chameera is also fully fit and raring to go while Dilshan Madushanka would be looking to continue his great form from the ODI World Cup in India. Overall. lankans are a strong unit and we can expect them to put Zimbabwe under lot of pressure in the first ODI. Zimbabwe on the other hand will be happy that Craig Ervine is back and fully fit for this series. However Sean Williams is missing and that is a big blow for them. However the onus will be on Sikandar Raza again to deliver some big performances and help Zimbabwe challenge Lankans at their own backyard. Ryan Burl is another all-rounder who is a quality cricketer and is an important asset for the visitors. However the likes of Kaitano Gumbie need to make this opportunity count and support their seniors if they want to win games in Sri Lanka. The bowling unit will rely a lot on pacers Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava while it would be interesting to see how Faraz Akram goes about his business too. Can Zimbabwe rattle hosts in front of their passionate home crowd? It was an extraordinary day of Test match cricket as ball dominated the bat yesterday. India get the first-innings lead. It was the pace bowler's paradise as 23 wickets fell on the first day for 270 runs. At the end of it all the Test match is nicely poised with India having their slight noses in front but South Africa are not out of it by any means. Today's play will be crucial for both sides. Let's recap you how day 1 panned out. The Proteas lost de Zorzi and Stubbs cheaply. It was South African skipper Dean Elgar who won the toss and elected to bat first on a challenging surface. Little did he know what was to follow thereafter. South Africa were blown away by a certain Mohammed Siraj as wickets fell at regular intervals. Only two players crossed double digits in David Bedingham. Kyle Verreynne as they scored 12 and 15 respectively. India were 153/4 at one stage but then shockingly lost 6 wickets for 0 runs in a span of 12 balls to be bowled out for 153 with an overall lead of 98 runs. Faced with a deficit of 98 runs South Africa put on an improved batting display. The openers Aiden Markram Dean Elgar put on 37 runs for the first wicket. Dean Elgar in his final innings fell for 12 to Mukesh Kumar. David Bedingham has just come into the crease. Aiden Markram is holding the innings together with his 36* off 51 balls as South Africa ended Day 1 in their second innings at 62/3 after 17 overs. Shubman Gill completes 1000 Test runs. Three bowlers used by India so far in this innings. Mukesh Kumar picked up a couple of wickets while Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Tristan Stubbs with a beauty. Siraj is still wicketless while Prasidh Krishna is yet to be introduced into the attack. South Africa win the toss and opted to bat first India make two changes whereas South Africa make three. Tristan Stubbs making his Test debut Elgar opens the batting in his final Test. Siraj draws first blood by dismissing Markram on two Elgar chops one back onto the stumps to give Bumrah his first and fall on four Debutant Stubbs departs on three as the Indian pace duo of Bumrah and Siraj breathed fire South Africa were reduced to 15/4. For all the hype around India being favourites to secure an away series victory against South Africa they were outclassed inside three days of the opening Test. Despite the inexperience factor and the injury to skipper Temba Bavuma. The likes of Marco Jansen Nandre Burger David Bedingham and Tony de Zorzi displayed maturity and supported seniors Kagiso Rabada and Dean Elgar - to register an innings and 32-run win over the two-time WTC finalists. Rohit Sharma the India skipper didn’t offer excuses for India’s abject surrender. “We were not good enough to win Rohit said. If we have to win Test matches we have to come together collectively and we didn't do that. Guys have visited South Africa before we know what to expect and everyone has their own plan. We were challenged we didn't adapt well. India would look for a complete performance to end the tour on a high. All eyes would be on their seniors Rohit Virat Kohli KL Rahul and Bumrah as the visitors hunt for a series-levelling victory. India batters desperately need a mixture of the patience exhibited by Rahul during his 101-run knock in the first innings at SuperSport Park. The fluency shown by Kohli in the second innings. In the bowling department India would aim to strike in pairs to shoot down the Proteas. South Africa on the other hand have an early lead. It’s about keeping their plans simple and wrapping things up at Newlands. If the hosts can continue their dominance it’ll go down as an incredible result given they lost the ODI series 2-1. They would need the same discipline and clarity to stifle India. Being 1-0 up in a series is a position of strength but South Africa would be aware that India are no pushovers and are capable of bouncing back. Best example - 36 all out to 2-1. India: Uncapped pace bowler Avesh Khan has been picked as a replacement for Mohammed Shami who has an ankle injury. Ravindra Jadeja who missed the first Test due to back spasms is likely to return. Those are the greatest memories you can share with your team and everyone who has an influential role in the background. Shardul Thakur who sustained a blow to his left shoulder during an optional practice session last week is fine and available for selection. South Africa: Bavuma who suffered a hamstring strain in Centurion has been ruled out of the New Year’s Test. Dean Elgar will be the Proteas stand-in captain in what will be his final Test. Meanwhile Zubayr Hamza has been added to the squad as Bavuma’s replacement. In another big blow pace bowler Gerald Coetzee too will miss the second Test due to pelvic inflammation. Head-to-Head Record in Tests 43 Matches Played 18 - South Africa Won 15 - India Won 10 - Drawn. Usually when India touch down in Cape Town they are on the threshold of a dream. Thrice since 1992 have they arrived here to play the decider winning which would have enabled them to tick South Africa off their list of places to win a series at. What to expect: A full house and midsummer heat which should take most of the spice out of the pitch. The surface looked less green on Tuesday than it did on Monday. In any case Newlands tends to offer South Africa's fairest contest between bat and ball. No rain has been forecast for the duration of the match. "I only play the game to win. I don't care about stats. I care about wins. I care about series wins. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. The two-match Test series begins with the Boxing Day Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion before the action shifts to Cape Town for the second and final Test. This series marks the start of South Africa's Test Championship cycle and they will be looking to start the campaign with a win. The Proteas will be led by their permanent Test captain Temba Bavuma and he will be keen to lead by example throughout the series. The hosts have a lethal pace attack in Gerald Coetzee Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi. Keshav Maharaj is the lone spinner in the squad while Nandre Burger. Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen form the all-rounder options. The bowling line-up seems settled but the batting will be put to the test in this series. It is confirmed now- Krishna is debuting for India in Test cricket. He receives his Test cap from the Bumrah. Pitch Report | Shaun Pollock: "It's a decent grass covering and South Africa is hoping for some movement. However they prefer to bat first since the pitch tends to slow down and become unpredictable as the game progresses. Considering the anticipated weather conditions it wouldn't be surprising if they opt for a spinner. With a significant amount of expected rain the playing conditions are unlikely to undergo substantial changes. Winning the toss and capitalizing on the initial period would be crucial." Ravi Shashtri: "Opt for batting first and endure the initial two hours. Even if you find yourselves two wickets down by lunch you'll be well-placed to reach a total of 280 or 290. Despite the seemingly green pitch there's more to it than meets the eye and persistence is key. Given the prevailing weather conditions consider fielding three fast bowlers an all-rounder and a spinner." Virat Kohli Rahul Dravid and Jasprit Bumrah are bowling on the side pitch now.
