Bangladesh v Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Live Scores | BAN v SL 2nd ODI Live Scores & Commentary | BAN Batting

A determined run-chase from Bangladesh in the first ODI saw them through to a convincing victory. After losing the T20I series hosts Bangladesh were off to a good beginning in the ODI series winning the opener by a comfortable 6-wicket margin. Their bowlers kept things tight and restricted Sri Lanka to 255. In response skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto's magnificent century and his unbeaten 165-run stand with Mushfiqur Rahim guided Bangladesh over the line. Bangladesh would look to continue the momentum. For Sri Lanka this is their only chance of drawing level. Will they be successful in making it 1-1? Just a day after Najmul Hossain Shanto's superb captain's knock steered Bangladesh home in a tricky run chase after the Sri Lankan pacers broke apart their top order the two teams are set to face each other in the second ODI of the three-match series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Friday (March 15). Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando gave an excellent start after Kusal Mendis opted to bat first on winning the toss. Both failed to convert the starts to a big one courtesy of Tanzim Hasan Sakib who grabbed three quick wickets. Mendis steered in the innings with a half-century and got good support from Janith Liyanage. Who has now hit three fifties in his young career kept Bangladesh at bay in the middle overs. Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed got the home team back in the game by dismantling the middle and lower order of the opposition including the wickets of two well-set batters and sharing 6 wickets between them. Mehidy Hasan Miraz kept things tight with a tidy spell of 10-0-33-1. There was no fight shown by the Lankan lower-order and hence they were bundled out for 255 in the 49th over throwing away the good foundation that the top and middle order set for the rest of the batters. Dilshan Madushanka and Pramod Madushan went bang bang bang and reduced Bangladesh to 23/3 in no time. Skipper Shanto who was searching for some runs led from the front and smashed an excellent century and got able support from experienced Tigers Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim as the hosts tackled. The spin threats of Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana to chase down the target with 6 wickets and 5.2 overs to spare. Tanzim Hasan Sakib walked off the field after bowling 8.4 overs having concerns with his fully strapped right leg. There is no recent update about the pacer's fitness. The strategy to bat first backfired on Sri Lanka but they would have learned their lesson. The toss is in nobody’s control though and if the dew tonight is as heavy as it was in the last game things will certainly favour the chasing team. Some of the Sri Lankan batters got off to starts in the last game but didn’t convert them into something substantial. Bangladesh v Sri Lanka 1st T20 Live Scores | BAN vs SL 1st T20 Live Scores & Commentary | SL Innings

T20 is the flavour of the season and we will see a lot of it in the next few months because of the World Cup scheduled in June this year. These two teams - Bangladesh and Sri Lanka - have players already in T20 mode. Bangladesh players are coming into this 3-match series on the back of BPL while Sri Lanka recently beat Afghanistan in this format. The home side has a new look to it with the experienced trio of Tamim Shakib and Rahim not available for various reasons. Najmul Shanto will lead this rather young side as they start their preparation for the main event. Sri Lanka too have a change in captaincy for the first two games. Regular skipper Wanindu Hasaranga is suspended for the first two games and Charith Asalanka will lead the side in his absence. The Lankans played some exciting cricket against Afghanistan and would look to carry that into these three games. Anamul Haque needs 15 runs to complete 2000 runs in international cricket. It was only last Friday (March 1) that Najmul Hossain Shanto & Co. ended their respective stints at the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 but so tight is the cricket calendar that only three days later hosts Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will face-off in a three-match T20I series beginning in Sylhet. All three T20Is – the remaining two fixtures are on March 6 and 9 – will be played in Sylhet. This is the road to ICC T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean and it’ll be crucial for the teams to gather and then sustain momentum heading into the mega-event in June later this year. Star Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will not be in action due to eye issue. Mehidy Hasan Miraz the vice-captain of the T20I team has been dropped. Meanwhile Mahmudullah has returned to the T20I side after more than a year having smashed 237 runs with two fifties at a healthy strike-rate of 134.65 in the recently-concluded BPL season. Anamul Haque Mohammad Naim Taijul Islam and Taskin Ahmed all of who didn’t feature in Bangladesh’s previous T20I assignment in New Zealand (in December 2023) that ended 1-1 have been brought back. Mystery spinner Aliss Al Islam who earned his maiden call-up to the national team after. A successful campaign with Comilla Victorians in the BPL – he bagged 9 scalps at an impressive economy of 7.17 – has been ruled out with a finger injury. Jaker Ali has been drafted into the squad as Aliss' replacement. Jaker also featured for the Comilla-based franchise in the BPL. He hit 199 runs at a splendid strike-rate of 141.13 and at an awe-inspiring average of 99.50. Bangladesh will know they need a complete team performance against Sri Lanka who’ll be high on confidence after winning successive T20I series against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. Charith Asalanka will be the stand-in Sri Lanka skipper in place of Wanindu Hasaranga for the first two of three T20Is. It’s pertinent to note that Hasaranga was suspended for two T20Is by the ICC following his outburst against umpire Lyndon Hannibal in a T20I against Afghanistan. Hasaranga who was also fined 50 per cent of his match fee will return as captain for the final T20I on March 9. In Hasaranga’s absence Akila Dananjaya and Maheesh Theekshana are the other spinners in the squad. Opening batter Avishka Fernando has come in for the injured Pathum Nissanka. Sri Lanka will miss the services of Kusal Perera who is down with a respiratory infection. Niroshan Dickwella who last played for Sri Lanka in March 2023 has been named Perera’s replacement. Bangladesh the home team would’ve to be mentally ready to handle the pressure of expectations better. Sri Lanka on the other hand would bank on their batters and spin department to produce a special performance. The three T20Is could well be about one of the teams setting the bar so high that the other would have extra motivation to overcome the challenge thrown at them. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will go up against each other on Tuesday (January 16) in the second T20I of the three-match series in Colombo. The first T20I was a nail-biting thriller in which Sri Lanka eventually won by three wickets. Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza had an outing to remember last time when the two sides met at the same venue. Coming to bat at No. 4 Raza slammed 62 off 42 balls laced with five fours and two sixes to take his side to 143/5. Then he had a dream spell with the ball claiming 3/13 although it all went in vain. Coupled with Dasun Shanaka’s unbeaten 18-ball 26 Sri Lanka rode on Angelo Mathews’ 38-ball 46 to get the job done on the last ball of the contest. Wanindu Hasaranga as expected lived up to his lofty expectations whereas Maheesh Theekshana took two crucial wickets as well. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe are set to lock horns in the second T20I of the three-match series on Tuesday January 16. The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the clash. The first T20I in Colombo turned out to be an absolute cracker as the match was in the balance until the last over. With 14 runs to win off the last over Dushmantha Chameera held his nerves to take his team home. Sikandar Raza almost pulled off a win for the visiting team single-handedly but his efforts fell short. He scored 62 runs off 42 balls with five fours and two sixes after which he finished with figures of 4-0-13-3. Angelo Mathews who made his comeback in T20Is after almost three years won the Player of the Match award. He scored 46 runs off 38 balls under pressure with the help of five fours and a six. After being put in to bat first Zimbabwe scored 143 for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Sri Lanka chased down the target off the last ball to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe Weather Report There is no chance of rain for the time being. Temperatures will be around the 25-degree Celsius mark with the humidity on the lower side. We are set for the final game of the three-match ODI series between the hosts Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka were stretched quite hard in the second ODI and managed to just get over the line and Zimbabwe would be hoping to win those crucial little moments in this game and level the series to gain some much-needed confidence ahead of the T20I series. The hosts Sri Lanka won't be happy with their performance especially with the bat in this series. Their batters have been guilty of throwing away their starts and it was Liyanage who with his 95 displayed some lone warrior skills in the last game. In the first match it was Asalanka who bailed them out with a fantastic century. However they need their top order to fire and the likes of Kusal Mendis Samarawickrama and Avishka will be itching to get a big score. Hasaranga is still doubtful and Sri Lanka might just rest him and keep their T20I captain fresh for that series. Dilshan Madushanka has bowled beautifully while Theekshana bamboozled Zimbabwe batters with his crafty tweakers in the last game. We can expect them to sizzle again with the ball. Zimbabwe on the other hand have been good with the ball too. They almost made the match out of their below-par total of 208 but need to bat better. They have been heavily depended on few players like Craig Ervine Sikandar Raza. Ryan Burl and even Sean Williams who is not present in this series and it is high time that other players start contributing. Gumbie looked well in his 37-ball stay in the last game while Ervine batted brilliantly for his 82. Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl have not yet lived up to their billing with the bat and if these seniors and couple of youngsters can fire in unison we might see Zimbabwe coming out on top. Richard Ngarava has been brilliant so far in this series and picked up a five-wicket haul in this game while other pacers like Muzarabani and Faraz Akram have also bowled well. Can Zimbabwe get their act together and level the series? The third and final game of the ODI series between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will be played on Thursday. This high-octane clash will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pitch Report R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo offers equal assistance to the batters and the bowlers. The batters will have to spend some time in the middle before they can start taking down the bowling attack. The spinners will get plenty of assistance from the surface. Greetings cricket enthusiasts and a hearty welcome to the live coverage of the inaugural One Day International (ODI) in the thrilling 3-Match ODI Series. The battleground is set at the iconic R.Premadasa Stadium 🏟️ in the vibrant city of Colombo where the hosts Sri Lanka are poised to engage in a fierce cricketing showdown against Zimbabwe. Time for some 50-over action again as Sri Lanka get ready to host Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series. Zimbabwe could not qualify for the World Cup in India in 2023 and have recently missed out from the T20 World Cup as well. So that would be surely hurting them and this is a great opportunity for them to make a statement against a team like Sri Lanka. The Lankans had a disappointing 2023 World Cup and they are starting afresh with Kusal Mendis appointed as a full-time ODI captain in place of Dasun Shanaka. So both teams have lot to gain from this series and it would be an interesting contest when two teams walk out at R. Premadasa for the first ODI. The home team Sri Lanka will be without Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga. The star leg-spinner is yet to recover fully but is likely to be fit only for the final game of the series. Nissanka will miss out due to Dengue and has been replaced by young Shevon Daniel. He might not make it to the XI though as Nuwanidu Fernando is likely to open alongside another comeback man Avishka Fernando. Both are talented batters and with likes of Sadeera Samarawickrama Charith Asalanka and captain Mendis forming a strong middle order Sri Lanka would be looking to deliver strong performances with the bat. However the focus will be on Dasun Shanaka who has been removed as captain has been under criticism lately for his inconsistent performances. On the bowling front Akila Dananjaya has made his comeback into the national side but he might miss the cut in the XI with presence of Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage in the squad. Dushmantha Chameera is also fully fit and raring to go while Dilshan Madushanka would be looking to continue his great form from the ODI World Cup in India. Overall. lankans are a strong unit and we can expect them to put Zimbabwe under lot of pressure in the first ODI. Zimbabwe on the other hand will be happy that Craig Ervine is back and fully fit for this series. However Sean Williams is missing and that is a big blow for them. However the onus will be on Sikandar Raza again to deliver some big performances and help Zimbabwe challenge Lankans at their own backyard. Ryan Burl is another all-rounder who is a quality cricketer and is an important asset for the visitors. However the likes of Kaitano Gumbie need to make this opportunity count and support their seniors if they want to win games in Sri Lanka. The bowling unit will rely a lot on pacers Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava while it would be interesting to see how Faraz Akram goes about his business too. Can Zimbabwe rattle hosts in front of their passionate home crowd? IPL 2023 Final Live: Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans Live | CSK vs GT Live Scores & Commentary

n 9 out of 12 finals since 2011, the side winning Qualifier 1 has gone on to win the final as well. Numbers matter. But if confidence, pressure and other sporting buzzwords were indeed irrelevant, cricket would've been played by robots. Chennai Super Kings have resisted letting the situation get to them in the past. Players who were a part of the setup have claimed that the feeling of playing a final was never really felt in the team. Yet, a day ahead of the 2023 final, Stephen Fleming, who has been a part of 11 IPL finals, doesn't deny that there is 'a bit of nervousness'. It's what makes the players perform at their best, according to him. On the other hand, Vikram Solanki, GT's Director of Cricket, put up a more relaxed front - of being confident in what the team has achieved in its brief past, as well as giving the due to CSK who have done it many times over. CSK may have dictated terms in the first Qualifier against Gujarat Titans, but on a slowish surface in Chennai, it was home comfort for them. Irrespective of how many fans turn up wearing the yellow jersey in Ahmedabad on Sunday in the hope to see MS Dhoni lift the trophy again in what could be his last game in the IPL, conditions will be far from home. Fleming isn't fretting though. Playing on all sorts of surfaces this season has equipped his team slightly better to neutral pitches, according to him. Solanki is expecting a fast, high-scoring wicket, similar to the one where the home side had chased down CSK's 178-run total with four balls to spare right at the start of the season. GT may be slightly better equipped for such conditions, asshowcased on Friday against Mumbai Indians. While a lot of skill and tactics will be at play, the title clash will boil down to the pressures of the day for two teams who have enjoyed spells of domination throughout the season. When: Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans, IPL 2023 Final, Monday, May 29, 2023, 7:30 PM IST Where: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad What to expect: Even as the weather is expected to be mostly sunny and dry, the possibility of brief showers hasn't been ruled out. A day ahead of the game, Vikram Solanki has stated that the pitch is expected to be friendly for scoring runs. Australia W vs South Africa W T20 World Cup Final Highlights | AUS W vs SA W Final Highlights

Ashleigh Gardner | PoTS: We have been longing for this moment since the last World Cup. We weren't in winning positions in certain phases, but we scrapped and got through. Probably the semifinal performance with the bat against India was the best of this tournament for me. We have won this tournament. We spoke about wanting to do this, so really proud. Confidence in my bowling. I have bowled quite a bit even in the Big Bash. Thankfully it (form) has come into international cricket as well. Proud is probably as understatement for the impact we have had globally as a team. Very fortunate to be part of this team and it something later in life I am going to be super proud of. Luus | South Africa captain: It's been amazing. To play at our home ground, with so many people supporting is amazing. Thank you Newlands for all the support, we love you guys a lot. If you told me before the game Australia were getting 156 I would have taken it. We lost wickets at crucial times, we knew they had a quality bowling line up. We lost the game but we can still be proud of the way we played in the tournament. I don't think womens cricket is going backwards at the moment. Some exciting moments are waiting in the coming months. I hope there is a lot of development in this front in the country. So many girls want to pick up a bat and ball, so the schools had to get girls cricket. They got to be starting club cricket as well with more girls knocking on the door. Firstly, you guys (Australia) are very annoying (smiles). But, congratulations to Meg and her team. You have been inspirational in world cricket for a long time and lot of the players look up to you guys and you showed your class again. I think my wish is just to keep on growing. We have set the platform today. Pressure is womens sports in his country, on the Minister of Sports, CSA and everyone to keep growing womens sport in this country... whether it is financially or the pipeline, Meg Lanning | Australia captain: It's a pretty special effort from the group, all the teams came really hard and we knew that was gonna happen, but to be able to perform so well throughout the tournament, super proud. We felt it was a good score but you have to bowl well with the wicket not as good as it was in the semi-final, so we were confident if we could hit the right lengths and target the stumps enough, we will be able to put South Africa under pressure, I thought our powerplay was excellent and that really set the tone. It is just about enjoying the opportunity and making sure that we are focused on what we are doing. We knew it was gonna be an amazing atmosphere which it was. It was a great event and we got some really good experience within the group and we wanted to really call on that and make sure when the pressure was on we are able to keep things simple and get things done and that's what everybody did. The people (of South Africa) have been super-friendly and the tournament has been amazing, so we thoroughly enjoyed it and certainly nice to finish off with the win here with this group. It's a special group, not just the players but the support staff who put a lot of work behind the scenes, so just want thank all that back group over there who certainly allowed us to go out there and play some cricket and really enjoy ourselves and also my family and friends are here. Meg Lanning walks to the dias and gets the World Cup in her hands. Now she joins her teammates as the champagne goes off. The fireworks and the confetti do their bit in the background. There is something that South Africa does so right in hosting multi-team tournaments. Be it the facilities, the colour, the entertainment, the competition, it's been quite an enjoyable viewing ever since the 2003 World Cup. Mens cricket has just had the success of SA20, now the women have made a great impact in the World Cup. Cricket world needs South Africa on song, for they have traditionally been one of the attractive cricket nations. This World Cup sure will inspire quite a few in the Rainbow Nation like it did in India with the 2017 World Cup.
