He's already made it as part of the reserves for the Asia Cup, where India have picked just three quicks in the main squad (Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan). Zimbabwe too could have one eye on the T20 World Cup, harbouring hopes of advancing to the Super 12s there. They'll also perhaps, look forward to testing themselves in the 50-over format against stronger opponents than their previous ones. Bumrah's last India game was an ODI, against England at Lord's on July 14. He was subsequently rested for the just-concluded eight-match white ball series against the West Indies. Bumrah becomes the second pacer to be unavailable after Harshal Patel. As reported earlier, the Haryana and RCB bowler is down with side strain and, like Bumrah, did not play in the West Indies series.
