Mattsson, a native of Huddinge, Sweden is one of the biggest prospects to come into the Tri-Cities. A draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL, Mattsson boasts a name that is very familiar to hockey scouts and fans. A former player in the OHL with the Sudbury Wolves, Mattsson arrived in Kearney and this is his first season with the Tri-City Storm. Amidst the snow flurries in Kearney arrived two Western Conferences foes Friday night. The Tri-City Storm hosted the Lincoln Stars at the Viaero Event Center in front of nearly a 3,000 fan capacity crowd. Travis Maxwell notched the first goal of the game in the 2nd period before Tim Bonner answered in the 3rd period. Paul LaDue scored the game winner with 52 seconds to go in OT, sealing a Stars win in Kearney. The two teams combined for 91 shots on goal. #BelievePurple? Two hot teams faced off on Black Friday at the Viaero Event Center. Visiting team Omaha, on a 5-game winning streak, opened up a 1-0 lead. Mike Vecchione tied the game 1-1. Jared Linnell netted the game-winner with 1:45 to go in the 3rd period to give the Storm a 3-2 win and rattle off 4 straight wins.
