Opener Shikhar Dhawan hit a superb century as India survived a wobble to secure a 26-run victory over Hong Kong at the Asia Cup in Dubai on Tuesday. Batting first in the Group A fixture, Dhawan guided India to 240 for two from 40 overs, chalking up his 14th one-day international hundred before he was dismissed on 127, with 15 boundaries and two sixes. Ambati Rayudu had earlier made 60 off 70 balls, but the Hong Kong spinners responded following Dhawan's departure with a late flurry of wickets to restrict India to 285 for seven. Kinchit Shah finished with three for 39. Team India started their Asia Cup 2018 with a lacklustre 26-run win over minnows Hong Kong. The ‘Men in Blue’ were given a real scare by the qualifiers as they ran the mighty Indians close with some belligerent batting. India struggled in almost all the departments and the team’s discomfort while playing in the hot and humid conditions of Dubai was also clearly visible. Anshuman Rath, captain of Hong Kong team addressed the media post match. He said, "Yeah, I think today was bittersweet. We really proved to the world what we can do. But in saying that, we had India by the horns and we really should have finished it off. If we are being hard on ourselves, which we should be, we should have finished that game off." Another World Cup, another failure for Brazil. Four years ago at home they were humiliated with a 7-1 defeat in the semi-final to Germany. This time around in Russia they were beaten 2-1 by Belgium in the quarter-finals. The last time the "Selecao" made it to the decisive match of the tournament was in 2002, when they beat Germany 2-0. "I'm so disappointed. It was not the football we were expecting from Brazil, there was a lack of football. They didn't believe in themselves as much as we believe in them. The coach (Tite) is not guilty. There is no guilt, but there was just a lack of football" said Marcus Oliveira, a 31 years old professor of Jiu-jitsu who attended the game in downtown Rio de Janeiro alongside thousands of other supporters. Neymar hobbled out of a training session on Tuesday, setting alarm bells ringing in the Brazil camp as they prepare for their second World Cup group game against Costa Rica on Friday. "Neymar came out of training today with a painful right ankle," said Vinicius Rodrigues, a spokesman for the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). He put the the knock down to the number of fouls Neymar received in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Switzerland in Rostov-on-Don in Brazil's opening Group E outing. The 26-year-old could be seen grimacing as he held his right ankle after feeling pain as he took part in a light session for those who had started that game.
