Daniel Ricciardo is going back to where it all began - Red Bull. The outgoing McLaren driver has decided he’d rather spend next year being wheeled out for Red Bull marketing stunts than racing in F1 for a team like Haas. There’s more to Ricciardo’s move than just some good PR, though. Red Bull’s been quick to play down the prospect of Ricciardo being an option for a race seat but we know Ricciardo only wanted to do a deal that helps him get back onto the grid for 2024. #F1 #RedBull #DanielRicciardo 00:00 Ricciardo's homecoming 00:42 His new role 03:01 Rejecting race seats 06:04 A future race deal? The fallout from Max Verstappen’s refusal to follow team orders at the Brazilian Grand Prix to help Sergio Perez continued into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend, with the team taking responsibility for handling the situation poorly, and also condemning the abuse Red Bull and its drivers have been subjected to since Sunday night at Interlagos. Red Bull had hoped that the behind-closed-doors discussions that took place on Sunday night would be the end of the matter. But it appears the saga has rumbled on behind the scenes, leading to the team issuing a statement about it on Thursday in Abu Dhabi. #RedBull #MaxVerstappen #SergioPerez Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace

After months of speculation, it’s finally been confirmed: Mick Schumacher will not race for Haas in 2023, with Nico Hulkenberg making a full-time return to Formula 1 in his place. It’s a decision that’s been a long time coming given Hulkeberg was first linked to the seat in early September. Eponymous team owner Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner gave Schumacher every chance to prove himself, but ultimately decided not to keep him both for on and off-track reasons. The second Haas seat alongside Kevin Magnussen was the last vacancy on the 2023 grid, meaning the full line-up for next season is in place. #F1news #Haas #MickSchumacher 00:00 Schumacher out, Hulkenberg in 00:54 Why Schumacher was dropped 03:04 Did Mick deserve another chance? 06:02 Why Hulkenberg? McLaren’s Formula 1 driver plans for 2023 featured a major risk when it became clear the team wanted to bin a multiple grand prix winner, in Daniel Ricciardo, for a rookie that McLaren hadn’t even evaluated itself. Oscar Piastri’s switch from Alpine to McLaren was one of this season’s biggest talking points, and the move was so contentious that Alpine spent a long time playing hardball. In an unexpected twist, though, McLaren, Piastri and Alpine have finally reached a mutual understanding - handing a boost to McLaren and the man tasked with succeeding where Ricciardo failed. #F1 #McLaren #OscarPiastri 00:00 McLaren's driver gamble 00:38 Piastri's early release 04:06 Why it matters 06:21 Who else is moving early? For the first time in 2022 Mercedes had a race-winning car at the Brazilian Grand Prix, and almost inevitably Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen wasted little time in adding to their infamous list of collisions. While Hamilton recovered to finish a close second to team-mate George Russell, Verstappen could only make it back to sixth after pitting for a new front wing and later serving a five second penalty for causing the collision. In this video we’re going to explain why the stewards felt Verstappen was at fault, and we’ll also get into how we think this decision shows the increasingly specific guidance around wheel-to-wheel combat that was introduced for this year is flawed. 00:00 First clash of the year 00:40 Why Verstappen was punished 03:01 Flaws in the rules 05:42 Can they race each other? #MaxVerstappen #LewisHamilton #BrazilianGP READ MORE HERE https://the-race.com/formula-1/how-verstappen-hamilton-feud-fits-in-with-f1s-racing-rules/ Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
Formula 1’s crazy 2023 silly season made a mockery of some teams that took certain plans for granted, and rewarded those that were ruthless in getting their targets. It also left some drivers out in the cold and gave new opportunities to various others - some expected, some less so. For one team that had a particularly turbulent time in the driver market, though, the last few months have led to a particularly big gamble for 2023 - banking on a driver that was on nobody’s radar barely a year ago. #F1 #F1news #F12023 00:00 Off the radar 00:30 F1's crazy driver market 02:48 Williams's gamble 05:33 What's Plan B? What's gone wrong for Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren after he shone at Red Bull and Renault in F1? Mark Hughes explains how the weakness Ricciardo's shown over the last two years was probably always there, it had just never been brought out by the previous cars he'd driven. #F1 #DanielRicciardo #McLaren Subscribe: http://the-race.com/youtube_subscribe Website: http://the-race.com/ Twitter: @wearetherace Instagram: @wearetherace Facebook: http://facebook.com/wearetherace Podcasts: http://the-race.com/podcasts Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, please also hit subscribe to show your support so we'll keep doing what we're doing. https://www.the-race.com http://www.twitter.com/wearetherace
