The Chicago Blackhawks picked up their 9th win on the season shutting out the Detroit Red Wings by a score of 2-0, improving their record on the season to 9-5-4 and a impressive 7-1-1 in their last nine, and perhaps even more impressive 9-2-4 over its last 15 games. Phillip Kurashev opened the scoring with a goal of the year candidate absolutely shredding the Red Wings defense. Kevin Lankinen and Duncan Keith picked up the assists on the goal. Alex DeBrincat would seal the victory for Chicago late in the 3rd scoring on the empty net with a slick pass from Patrick Kane. Kevin Lankinen was stellar again earning his first career shutout in the NHL stopping 29 of 29 shots. The Chicago Blackhawks picked up their 8th win on the year defeating the Detroit Red Wings by a score of 3-2 in overtime, improving their record to 8-5-4 on the season and a impressive 8-2-4 in their last 14 games. The hawks got the lead when Mattias Janmark scored his 6th of the season off assists from Carl Soderberg and Nikita Zadorov. Dominik Kubalik finally scored at 5 on 5, after an excellent play by Brandon Hagel to force a turnover resulting in a tap in goal for Kubalik his 4th of the year. The Red Wings, who dominated most of the game, would send the game to overtime however after netting goals from Vladislov Namestnikov and Christian Djoos. However the Hawks were not to be denied as Pius Suter set up Dominik Kubalik for the GWG on a 2 on 1 in the dying seconds overtime. Nicolas B Beaudin picked up the secondary assist. The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 3-2 in overtime, improving their record on the season to 7-5-4. in a defensive minded game the Blue Jackets struck first with a goal from newly acquired Patrick Laine. Cam Atkinson had the lone assist. Shortly after the goal Laine and Brandon Hagel had a scarp, in which Hagel knocked Laine into next week. The Blackhawks would tie the game in the 2nd period with a goal from Nicolas Beaudin, his second goal in two games, with Nikita Zadorov and Patrick Kane picking up the assists. That tie would be short lived however as the Blue Jackets would respond with a goal from Cam Atkinson. He would finish with 6 points over the two game series, which was phenomenal for him. Zach Werenski and Seth Jones picked up the helpers. Carl Soderberg would tie the game late in the 3rd period from great work by Philip Kurashev to force a turnover, the young rookie was rewarded with an assist on the goal. And like a tale as old as time, in overtime Patrick Kane found Alex Debrincat, who batted his own shot out of the air to beat Joonas Korpisalo for the game winner in overtime. Kevin Lankinen got back to his winning ways stopping 29 of 31 shots for a save percentage of .935. The Chicago Blackhawks fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 6-5 in game 15 of the 2020-21 season, dropping their overall record to 6-5-4 on the season. Cam Atkinson opened the scoring off a Nicolas Beaudin turnover in the first period, scoring shorthanded. In the 2nd period Ian Mitchell scored his first NHL goal, tying the game at 1, getting assists from David Kampf and Matthew Highmore. Not to be outdone, Nicolas Beaudin made up for his costly turnover by scoring his first NHL goal off a ricochet along the end boards from a slap shit from Nikita Zadorov. Alex Debrincat picked up the secondary assist. Pius Suter then got in on the fun scoring his 6th of the season from Patrick Kane and Nicolas Beaudin, giving the Blackhawks a 3-1 lead. The Blue jackets would draw to within one with a Jack Roslovic goal at the 18 minute mark. Patrick Kane would eventually extend the Blackhawks lead to 4-2 with a power play goal early in the 3rd period. The Blue Jackets would then tie the game with goals from Boone Jenner and Jack Roslovic's 2nd of the night. Alex Debrincat would then get the lead back to the Blackhawks after creating a turnover in the neutral zone and a slick passing play from Patrick Kane, Madison Bowey also picked up his first point on the year and first point as a Blackhawk on the goal. The Blue Jackets would then take over the game however with 2 goals in the final 3 minutes to seal the win after mounting pressure on the young Blackhawks team. Kevin Lankinen finished the game, in one he would like to forget with 37 saves on 43 shots for an .860 save percentage. The NHL is also likely to change the rules of the draft lottery and delay the 2021 NHL Draft to the summer of 2022 holding two separate drafts for that year. The Chicago Blackhawks picked up their 6th win on the season defeating the Dallas Stars by a score of 2-1 in overtime, improving their overall record to 6-4-4 on the season. The Blackhawks had a dreadful first period, lead by a brutal turnover by Pius Suter, leading to the Stars lone goal of the game by Rope Hintz. In the 2nd period the Blackhawks got on the board with a power play goal scored by former Dallas Stars forward Mattias Janmark, his fifth of the season, earning assists from Dominik Kubalik and a great pass and play from Phillip Kurashev. The 3rd period went scoreless with good goaltending on both sides of the ice. In overtime, Brandon Hagel made a slick passing play to Pius Suter, who sliced up the Stars defense like butter, scored a beautiful goal to give the Blackhawks the victory, his fifth of the season. Kevin Lankinen finished strong again, stopping 34 of 35 shots for a .971 save percentage. Look out for this kid, he is probably the favorite for the Calder right now and definitely in discussion for the Vezina. The Chicago Blackhawks fell in a shootout to the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 4-3 in game 11 of the 2020-21 season. Dropping their record to 3-4-4 on the season and impressively 3-1-4 over their last 8 games. Andrei Svechnikov opened the scoring in the first period putting the Hurricanes in front 1-0, with assists from Warren Foegele and Jordan Staal. Warren Foegele then potted his first goal of the season giving the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead, getting assists from Jordan Staal and Brady Skeji. Phillip Kurashev opened the scoring for the Blackhawks with his fourth of the season on power play from Pius Suter and Dominik Kubalik. Patrick Kane would score his 5th of the season with 17 seconds remaining in the 1st period, tying him with Doug Weight for 6th all time in American points. Alex Debrincat picked up two assists on the evening in his return from the covid protocol list. Vincent Trocheck would then put the Hurricanes back in front 3-2, putting home a blocked shot by Connor Murphy, the assists coming from Nino Niederreiter and Brett Pesce Dylan Strome picked up his fourth goal of the season tying the game in the 3rd period, with Alex Debrincant and Dominik Kubalik assisting on the goal. Kevin Lankinen continued his march towards the Calder and Vezina Trophies with another impressive outing, making 38 saves on 41 shots for a save percentage of .927 Nicolas Beaudin also returning to the lineup from the covid protocol list, played a career high 20 minutes. The Chicago Blackhawks picked up their 3rd win of the 2020-21 season, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 3-1. Kevin Lankinen continues to be the Finnish Magician stopping 32 of 33 shots for a save percentage of .970 on the evening. Through his last 5 games Lankinen has stopped 153 of 160 shots for a save percentage of .956 simply unheard of. Phillip Kurashev picked up his 3rd goal of the season from a great pass by Patrick Kane. Kurashev is now second in rookie goal scoring in the league. His Holiness Pius Suter the First scored his fourth of the season to give the Blackhawks the lead, scoring from a bad angle after a bad Elvis Merzlinkins turnover. Not to be outdone, Patrick Kane scored his fourth of the season after Phillip Kurashev forced another turnover by Elvis Merzlinkins behind the Columbus goal. Kurashev finished the night with a goal and an assist. Reese Johnson made this NHL debut on the evening leading the team with 7 hits in just under 11 minutes of ice time. Dominik Kubalik was held off the score sheet on the evening as he has now put the puck in the net in only one game of the first 10 on the shortened season.
