The hawks got the lead when Mattias Janmark scored his 6th of the season off assists from Carl Soderberg and Nikita Zadorov. Dominik Kubalik finally scored at 5 on 5, after an excellent play by Brandon Hagel to force a turnover resulting in a tap in goal for Kubalik his 4th of the year. The Red Wings, who dominated most of the game, would send the game to overtime however after netting goals from Vladislov Namestnikov and Christian Djoos.
