During L.A.'s matchup with the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday afternoon, James was forced to leave the game after twisting his ankle during the second quarter. While trying to secure a loose ball, Hawks forward Solomon Hill fell on top of James' right ankle and James fell to the floor in pain. Lebron James didn't sub out of the game right away. In fact, he stayed in the contest and knocked down a 3-pointer from the corner before he checked out and headed back to the locker room. Shortly after James exited the contest it was announced that he would not return to the game. X-rays on the ankle were negative, but after an MRI James was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. He will be sidelined indefinitely, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The loss of James for the foreseeable future is obviously a big blow to L.A. The Lakers are already without All-Star forward Anthony Davis due to a calf strain in his right leg, and they are in the midst of a tight battle for postseason positioning in the Western Conference. The Lakers currently sit third in the West, but they're only two games ahead of the fourth-seeded Clippers and just 2.5 games ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers, who are in the sixth spot. Without their two best players, it will be difficult for the Lakers to maintain their spot in the standings. It's tough to tell exactly how many games James will miss at this point, but it's safe to say that the Lakers will be exceedingly cautious when it comes to the reigning Finals MVP. After all, the most important thing for L.A. is that James is healthy for postseason play.

The Celtics' fell victim to the Hawks' hot shooting, as they surrendered a franchise-high 23 makes from 3-point land in their 127-112 loss. The Celtics just strung together three of their most disappointing losses of the season. First, they blew a 24-point second-half lead against the Pelicans and lost in overtime. Then, they saw Luka Doncic sink them with a last-second 3-pointer in a game that Dallas played without Kristaps Porzingis. Then, on Wednesday, the Hawks obliterated the C's and the entire fourth quarter was essentially garbage time. The Celtics are sitting at 15-17 and currently are ninth in the Eastern Conference. Team Governor Wyc Grousbeck said of the team, "We're not contenders." So, is it time for the Celtics to punt on the season, become sellers, and try to retool around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown during the offseason?

The results showed no rupture of the right Achilles tendon. Davis will miss tomorrow’s game vs. Minnesota, and will be further evaluated by team doctors upon his return to Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Lakers lost by 17 points to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday and that was far from being the story of the game. Instead, every Laker fan was more focused on the status of Anthony Davis. Davis left the game in the second quarter after shooting two free throws. Davis was clutching his Achilles and limped off the court. Davis has been dealing with Achilles tendonitis as he appeared to re-aggravate the issue. Davis is set to have MRIs on Monday. Regardless of what the MRI says, it is safe to say that we won’t be seeing Anthony Davis in action in the immediate future. The Los Angeles Lakers have to be as cautious as possible with Davis. Achilles injuries are no joke and this is not something that could cost the Lakers the title this year, it isn’t something that could cost the title next year, but it is something that could cost multiple titles for the Los Angeles Lakers.

As evidenced by the Brooklyn Nets’ decision to rest James Harden, they clearly didn’t think they needed all three of their stars to defeat the Washington Wizards. But they were wrong. In a display of one high-octane offense taking on another, the Wizards managed to pull off an improbable 149–146 win against one of the hottest teams in the league. Early threes from Kevin Durant and Joe Harris, who hit a career-high eight threes en route to 30 points, forced a timeout from Wizards Coach Scott Brooks. Despite the timeout, the Nets would continue to scorch the basket from deep, and after Harris hit another three to put his side up 14, Brooks was forced to call yet another timeout. And it wasn't Brooklyn’s starters — Jeff Green added 23 points off the bench. With the deficit shrinking and the clock ticking, the stars — Durant (37 points, seven rebounds and six assists) and Kyrie Irving (26 points, eight assists) — were not looking to pass late in the game. Between Westbrook and Beal, who had 24 points in the second half and 37 altogether, the Wizards were more than happy to step into the ring with Brooklyn’s bruisers. With 12 seconds remaining, and the Wizards down by five, Beal sped up the court and hit a long three. With seven seconds left, Garrison Mathews stole the inbound pass, dished it to Westbrook who hit his biggest three of the season, putting the Wizards up one! The Mavericks lost their fourth game in a row, falling to the Jazz 120-101. It was a dispiriting effort from Dallas, who yet again showed a level of lethargy and carelessness not often seen by a professional basketball team. The team has a hard schedule and terrible luck with health, but at a certain point, they have to show up and play basketball at a high level. Or maybe at least a competitive one. The offense was disjointed to start the game, as the Mavericks were only able to put up 12 points in the first quarter. The Jazz, however, had no problem getting buckets, hitting seven 3-pointers on their way to 37 points in the opening frame. This was despite missing their star Donovan Mitchell, out for the second straight game due to concussion protocols. Dallas fought back in the second, cutting the deficit to 16, but Utah roared back in the third, outscoring the Mavericks by ten on with another barrage of shots from deep. Not much changed in the fourth. Luka Doncic put up a respectable line of 25 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Perhaps ironically, McGee would be helping replace the shot-blocking and interior defense provided by Jarrett Allen, who the Cavaliers acquired in the trade that brought Harden to Brooklyn. Nets head coach Steve Nash has recently been critical of his team’s defense and it’s no coincidence that his comments have come so soon after Allen and forward Taurean Prince were shipped to Cleveland. Love, an excellent defensive rebounder, would help Brooklyn defensively by limiting the number of possessions the opposing team has. Furthermore, as a career .370 percent shooter from deep, his biggest contribution could be as a 3-point shooter that plays off the dribble-drives of the Nets’ Big Three. There is plenty going on in the NBA right now so here I am providing the news! JJ Reddick and Lonzo Ball are linked to possible trades to other teams in order to boost the pelicans chances of winning. Javale Mcgee is linked to the nets in a possible trade to help Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving win a Championship, but Kevin Love is also a name that jumps out when talking about possible trades to the Nets as well.
