The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the UNLV Runnin' Rebels by a final score of 86-74, in the consolation bracket of the Maui Jim Invitational. The Rebels and Caleb Grill shot the 3 ball very well early and led by 7 during the first half. However, the Tide cut that lead and the score was tied at halftime at 38. During the second half, UNLV simply ran out of gas. T.J. Otzelberger only played 8 players and 4 of 5 starters played over 32 minutes. Alabama came out of halftime strong and put away the Rebels. The #14 North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the UNLV Runnin' Rebels 78-51 in round one of the Maui Jim Invitational. The Rebels started off strong, jumping out on a 13-0 run in the first three and a half minutes of the game, however after that it was all North Carolina. The Tar Heels closed the half on a 37-17 run and went into halftime leading by 7. To start the second half, UNLV came out flat. The Rebs only shot 16% from the field in the half, and UNC dominated the half from start to finish. The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels lost to the Montana State Bobcats by a final score of 91-78. The Rebels never lead in tonight’s game against the team from the Big Sky conference. Bryce Hamilton scores 27 points for the Rebels and Nick Blake added 16 more. However, Bishop and Belo for the Bobcats dominated the Rebels lackluster defense and both score 36 points combined.
