Michigan vs. South Carolina Outback Bowl final score: Gamecocks win late
Michigan vs. South Carolina Outback Bowl final score: Gamecocks win late

South Carolina beat Michigan in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day in Tampa, 26-19. The Gamecocks came back from a 19-3 deficit late in the third quarter and won on the strength of five takeaways. Michigan’s collapse cost the Big Ten a perfect bowl record. The Gamecocks finished 9-4, and the Wolverines finished 8-5. South Carolina’s victory means free Bloomin’ Onion appetizers at Outback Steakhouses. During the third quarter, the Bloomin’ Onion Man mascot — an Outback Bowl staple, along with the Coconut Shrimp — was SB Nation’s Ryan Nanni. South Carolina’s fortunes turned in the exact quarter Nanni showed up on the sidelines. This was a running diary of the game, with highlights mixed in: South Carolina 26, Michigan 19, 0:00: The Wolverines’ Brandon Peters threw a pick to Carolina’s Steven Montac with 1:05 left to seal the game. South Carolina 26, Michigan 19, 3:47: The Gamecocks added a 22-yard Parker White field goal after a Michigan muffed punt, extending their lead to a touchdown and PAT. South Carolina 23, Michigan 19, 7:53: On a third-and-goal from Carolina’s 5-yard line, Brandon Peters threw an interception in the end zone to the Gamecocks’ JaMarcus King. That’s a touchback, and Michigan’s best shot to pull ahead is squandered.South Carolina 23, Michigan 19, 11:33: The Gamecocks lead for the first time, not even 10 minutes after they trailed 19-3. Jake Bentley found Shi Smith for a 53-yard touchdown pass to put Carolina in front. The wheels are falling off for Michigan.Michigan 19, South Carolina 16, 0:51: Well, now things are interesting! South Carolina scored two touchdowns 94 seconds apart, this one coming after a Michigan turnover. Jake Bentley found Bryan Edwards for a 21-yard scoring strike, one play after Michigan QB Brandon Peters fumbled the ball away. The touchdown: Michigan 19, South Carolina 9, 2:25: The Gamecocks finally scored a touchdown, on a speed option pitch from Jake Bentley to Rico Dowdle. A two-point conversion try failed, keeping Michigan’s lead at two scores. After the touchdown, you might’ve noticed the Bloomin’ Onion Man mascot running around in the end zone. That’s our guy, Ryan Nanni! Michigan 19, South Carolina 3, 5:42: Quinn Nordin’s 48-yard field goal — his fourth of the day and longest so far — extended Michigan’s lead. Michigan 16, South Carolina 3, 7:49: South Carolina forced a fumble and got the ball back inside its own 5-yard line, at least temporarily averting a three-touchdown deficit. Michigan 16, South Carolina 3, 9:03: The Wolverines’ Noah Furbush intercepted Jake Bentley at the UM 46 and ran it 27 yards to South Carolina’s 27. The Wolverines appear to have things well in hand, as South Carolina’s offense can’t move. Michigan 16, South Carolina 3, 9:56: Michigan drove 72 yards across seven plays and 3:34 of clock time on its first drive of the second half, capped by a 1-yard Ben Mason touchdown run. The game’s previous longest drive? A 45-yard field goal trek by South Carolina in the first half. A

PNG HUNTERS VS IPSWICH JETS (RD 13 INTRUST SUPER CUP 2015)
PNG HUNTERS VS IPSWICH JETS (RD 13 INTRUST SUPER CUP 2015)

Hunters halt Jets charge The Ipswich Jets made the trek to the Hunters’ home ground Kalabond Oval for their Round 13 game, looking for their first win at the ground. The Jets and Hunters clash brought together two in form teams, with the Jets having won five games in a row (and six away games in a row); while the Hunters had not lost at home all year. They were also chasing a club record of six wins a row. The Hunters had several changes with Henry Noki, David Lapua and Sebastian Pandia all out of the Hunters’ line-up, while for the Jets Liam Capewell, Brendon McGrady, Kurtis Lingwoodock and Gerico Cecil made way for Richard Pandia, Pat McCallum, Joe Ofahengaue and Chris Ash – meaning there were three Jets players on debut for this game. The match started well for the Hunters who in the fifth minute saw fullback Stargroth Amean slice through the Jets’ defence and over the line to get the Hunters up 6-0. The Jets pressed the Hunters’ line with attacking raids, but the Hunters held them out and seemed to gain confidence. It was the little half and captain Israel Eliab who came up with the big play after the Hunters had been defending; when on his own 30m line he received the ball and set off for the line on a 70m run that saw the Hunters out to a 10-0 lead. The Hunters’ scheming number 7 Ase Boas was keeping the Jets pinned down and controlling the game with his kicking game. However, it was a careless Hunter’s penalty that saw the Jets gain attacking momentum and Landon Hayes score his first Intrust Super Cup try. The Hunters were up 10-6 and the Jets had settled into the speed of the game when the Hunters pulled away again through Oti Bland Tony who got the Hunters to a halftime lead of 16-6. The Jets needed to start the second half well to get back into the game and they achieved this through a try in the 43rd minute to Hayes who was having a strong match. At 16-12 it was a tight struggle until Timothy Lomai found Brandy Peter with a nice short ball and the Jets couldn’t hold the Hunters who pulled away again 22-12. With 20 minutes to go, Eliab scored his second try to seemingly take the game out of the Jets’ reach at 28-12. Marmin Barba had other ideas and scored try number 17 for 2015 to keep the Jets in touch at 28-16. The Jets chipped away again at the lead when they scored with 10 minutes to go through Jets big bustling bench forward Billy McConnachie the score was now 28-22 and a dramatic finish was on the cards. The Jets’ Kurt Capewell used his footwork to beat Noel Zeming cold and score his fourth try of the year and it was now 28-28 with eight minutes to go. It was a hectic last eight minutes and the Hunters broke the game open when Adex Wera busted the Jets and scored a try in the corner to take the Hunters out to 34-28 with five minutes to play. The Hunters sealed the win with a try after Esau Siune broke the Jets once more and made a 30m run. He found Puara who got the ball onto Lawrence Tu’u to score and end the game with a score 40-28. The Jets will enjoy the week off this week while the Hunters will take on the Souths Logan Magpies at Port Moresby. PNG HUNTERS 40 (Israel Eliab 2, Stargroth Amean, Adex Wera, Kato Ottio, Lawrence Tu’u, Brandy Peter tries; Noel Zeming 5, Israel Eliab goals) def IPSWICH JETS 28 (Landon Hayes 2, Marmin Barba, Kurt Capewell, Billy McConnachie tries; Carlin Anderson 3, Marmin Barba goals) at Kalabond Oval, Kokopo. Nimblewill Nomad - Odyssey 2012: IAT (Part 1)
Nimblewill Nomad - Odyssey 2012: IAT (Part 1)

June 28, from Potawatomi State Park to June 30, south of Algoma, Wisconsin Follow the Nimblewill Nomad as he begins with what he calls Day Zero of the first trek of his 2012 Odyssey. First he captures a shot of downtown Minneapolis, as he lingers at the bus station there, in route from his home in Missouri to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Upon arrival at Green Bay, the Nomad is treated to a little "Trail Magic" from a couple of "Trail Angels" known as Meander and Bacon. They were at Green Bay to meet the Nomad and transport him on to Sturgeon Bay, at the Potawatomi State Park, where he begins Odyssey 2012 on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail (IAT). Next we see a scene along the Ahnappe Rail Trail, by the Ahnappe River, and then on to Algoma for an overnight. South of Algoma the Nomad pauses to deliberate on whether or not to take the suggested County Road K, with no shoulder, or the State Road 42, with a wider, marked shoulder to hike along. The Nomad chooses the State Road and heads on his way, sharing a little footage of the tarmac with us.
